Provecho is an okay place to get eat. The waitresses are nice, but spend most of their time by the bar sitting on their phone. Two of the three times we went, we had to cancel the appetizers because the food came out first. One of those times the appetizer was queso. They had no queso...... Either way, the place is nice. Not a lot of parking but the jumpy house was a nice add. The food is a little bland and the chicken was dry. We had a pineapple flavored meal with really no flavor of pineapple. I really enjoyed the food, but the service was lacking. One of their four tip options was 99%, which I thought was very disrespectful and malicious to put as a suggested tip because some customers may inadvertently select it. It took so long for our food to arrive that we were already full from sharing a little over one small basket of chips amongst three of us. They charge $2 + tax for the chips and salsa, but it is very worth it as there are unlimited refills. However, they did not refill the salsa until we finally asked, which was fine, but then they also didn't refill the chips which were almost gone as well. The tortilla chips were very thick, which we thought was so unique. We really enjoyed them. My friend asked the hostess afterwards how they make the chips, and she just laughed in response. I got the chipotle pineapple chicken tacos, which were very good. I really enjoyed the sauce and the chicken. The rice was normal. The beans, however, were very liquid-like and did not taste good. They were so watery. My friends shared the chimichurri carne bowl, which I guess says in the description that it's a meat bowl, but they were surprised it didn't come with anything else like rice or beans. They said the steak was good, and the shrimp and chicken were fine. The food was good overall, but the service was so slow and inattentive that it made for a poor dining experience. I think the server forgot about us at the end because we waited quite a while while she kept walking by us, and we finally just went inside to the front to ask to pay the bill. read more

Don't miss breakfast here. We stopped in on a quiet off season Wednesday morning and ended up being the only table for a bit. I ordered the sweet potato toast thats sweet potato slices topped with tomato, guac and egg style of choice. I should have added bacon but thankfully my fiancé went with the traditional breakfast that came with a ton. I added a stolen piece of bacon and proceeded to inhale it. It was so good. His breakfast was massive and we both really enjoyed the food and the service. It's beautiful inside here too. Will be back! read more

First time in the new business since the changeover. The menu has changed, but the food and service were pretty good. There were only a few people eating so we got lots of attention. There was music playing in the background. It was a bit loud, but I assume it helps drown out conversations from other tables when it's crowded. No biggie there. We had chips and salsa to start with. For our entrees, we had street tacos, taco plate (chipotle pineapple chicken), and steak a la Mexicana. All of the entrees were good. We'd definitely get them again. The charro beans lacked a bit of flavor butter weren't supposed to be the star of the plate anyway. We had a top shelf and regular margaritas. The top shelf costs almost the same as one of the entrees, which was a bit disappointing. They were good. Will definitely come back to try more menu options at some point, even though lots of traditional Mexican menu items aren't served here. Maybe that's a good thing. read more

My first visit was ok, the street taco platter was solid , charro beans were decent , our next visit was not as pleasurable , the service was lacking both times even when there were barely any other customers there . Yesterday's visit we were sucked in by our children wanting to play in the bounce house ... we sat outside for about 10 mins before someone finally brought us menus . We knew what we wanted by the time they got there as we just came for drinks and queso . When the drinks finally arrived ( I got a raspberry marg, and wife got prickly pear marg) It appeared I was drinking mostly raspberry syrup on the rocks. It left an awful coating on my teeth , usually you can at least taste the alcohol .. I let it water down a little bit as it was hot outside ... hoping it would help the thickness of the drink, it did not. In the mean time we watched the 3 other tables also seated outside yet their meals when we ordered our chips and queso before them , our server never reappeared . My wife took our drinks to the bar to say something only to be ignored by the bartender which was on his phone "googling what ingredients were in a sangria" She stood there a bit longer then just ended up telling the hostess that the drinks were not good , and we hadn't received our chips and queso . Try this restaurant out for the first time and absolutely loved it. Our server was on top of everything and our drinks were never empty. The food is full of flavor and this was a great place to eat great Mexican food and enjoy some cold drinks with pretty views. My sister, her husband and I meet in Salado for lunch every month. It's half-way between our homes. We decided to try Provecho today and were very pleasantly surprised. We got there a bit before the lunch hour and were immediately seated and our drink order was taken. I guess our only complaint was the country music playing but that changed to Mexican music as the hour got closer to noon. Our meals were brought out on a timely basis and were quite large. The menu is varied and has a lot of American offerings as well as Mexican although it's certainly not your typical Tex-Mex. My sister ordered the fried catfish and there was plenty and it was excellent, light and flaky with a crunchy crust and a terrific flavor. (We all sample each other's meals for next time.) She tried the house cole slaw for a side and said it was very good. It must have been because there was none left for me to try. My brother-in-law had a Mexican offering with ground beef layered with tortillas and cheese which he enjoyed a lot but the star of his plate was the Brussels Sprouts. They were flash-fried with a secret spice and were spectacular. My sister and I couldn't get the recipe out of the Chef but we both bought a small container of her secret spice mix. I had Street Tacos. There are six tacos on the plate and you have a choice of protein and can pick thee. I just got four shrimp and two shredded pork. They came with a side of charro beans and were excellent. I need to mention that when our server first brought out our drinks my iced tea was very weak although acceptable. Right after she brought us our meals she brought me a glass of much stronger tea and apologized for the first glass. Mixing the two glasses gave me a perfect glass of tea. All in all this was a great experience and we will definitely be back again. read more

We stopped in for a drink, great service. Really nice and helpful people. The owner, Brooke actually took the time and helped us find a room for the night. It was a very busy weekend and we had not planned to stay, but the town is so charming we had to see if we could possibly get a room somewhere. Brooke called a friend of hers who had a a charming loft above a barn and offered it to us for the night. Don't worry spice sissies like me, when I asked the waiter how "chili" the chili lime is he was spot on when he said it's not spicy at all! It was my first time trying cauliflower rice - it was GREAT - and the lime and seasoning on the chicken was savory and refreshing! The food is AMAZING they have a great twist on Tex mex! They chips and salsa taste home made in house. The only thing that I would say is sometimes touch and go is the service and the drinks. I love their margaritas but they don't taste the same every time, but it also means you are getting a handmade margarita and not a mix from a bottle. Greeted at door and immediately seated. Nice decor but very loud - need some sound abatement measures. Nola, our server, was attentive & knowledgeable without hovering or rushing us. Margaritas were fantastic (we did get top shelf tequila). They have a very interesting and original menu and reasonable prices. Catfish tacos really good but taco was flimsy which made it a bit messy. (That said, tacos usually are messy, right!) The stacked creamy chipotle enchilada with pineapple chicken was good and creative but not as expected (we expected an Al Pastor type taste and this dish was milder). We will definitely return to try other dishes and we highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. read more

I usually forget to rate restaurants, but that's all I thought about after lunch today. We drove up to Salado for lunch today with plans of eating at another restaurant. We were walking around and decided on a whim to stop in. I have not had the best dining experiences since moving to Texas four years ago, so was hesitant. But our foodie friends wanted to give it a try so we agreed. At first we were seated next to the window, which had several flies, so we switched tables. Immediately, a staff member took care of the flues (a few customers didn't close the doors after themselves, so maybe a better door closure system would help.) Once seated, it was hard to decide what to pick from the menu because there's actually a good amount of interesting and unique choices. I played it safe and ordered the street tacos (carnitas, chicken and shrimp) with refried beans). Husband ordered carnitas on a bun. (Both carnitas and refried beans are our "litmus test" our first time trying a New Mexican restaurant.) Both had an unexpected , but delicious heat to them. Very flavorful and generous portions. My shrimp tacos were good, but I found the chicken bland next to the carnitas. Our friends had the poblano enchilada stack with chicken (she said it was lacking something) and he had carnitas tacos and loved them. It was a delicious meal and we'll be back. read more

This was a second visit to this establishment. Our first visit, or attempt to visit. We were greeted and seated. They were not very busy so we thought we could eat fairly quickly. 10 minutes in, several, what we assumed were servers, walked past us. Each looking our way but no one spoke to us. After giving a further 5 minutes we decided to leave. The manager (we assumed) chased us and begged us to come back. We politely refused but said we would try again another time. Well. Last night was that second chance. We went with 2 other couples. I ordered the "Chimichuri bowl" my husband the taco plate with steak tacos and my brother ordered Steak Mexicana. My meal had steak, chicken and shrimp and a "chimichuri" sauce. The steak and chicken were so dry, I couldn't eat them. The shrimp were over cooked and drowned is a chipotle sauce that wasn't very pleasant. I ate flour tortillas. My husband's steak was chewy and gristly. My brother's steak was tough and hardly edible. I hear the food here is really good from friends. I'm posting because someone came in to the restaurant today, ordered tacos and margaritas. Ate and drank them all and then asked to have their money for the $2 tacos refunded claiming they were burnt. They still ate them and drank all of their drink though. I love this restaurant. The owners have been serving amazing authentic Mexican food farm to table style for years and I have followed the deliciousness. This is not typical Tex-mex but authentic style using fresh, locally sourced (when available) ingredients. I appreciate their dedication to bringing clean , healthy choices. Went in to this place last week on a Wednesday at about 6:30 pm. We were sat by who I can only assume was the owner or manager. We immediately noticed that there were about 8 tables and only 1.... 1 waiter who was also the bartender. It took the waiter 10 minutes just to acknowledge us.
