They are the 3d business of this type that has contacted me through the years. They are all scammers. You can file the exact same property tax reassessment form yourself and save all the money. These guys appear the worst of the three. First, their proposed valuation at a 35% discount to my current assessed value is completely unrealistic. It can't be supported by any real estate valuation methods you can think off. Instead, I have already filed an informal property tax assessment review and obtained a much more realistic 5% discount. And, this was at no cost to me whatsoever. Second, these guys charge a 35% cut of your yearly property tax savings for two consecutive years. That is an outrageous amount of money. The others were charging 40% cut of only the first year in property tax savings. Don't just walk away, run! read more

Protax works on a contingency fee, so if they do not reduce your property taxes, you owe them nothing. I engaged them, and they kept me abreast of the status of my case. Just today I received word that they were able to get the Orange County Tax Assessor to reduce the assessed value of my home by $68,,478. Should be zero reviews, and I intend to file a report with the BBB as well. Protax solicited me, scheduled an appeal date with County, then I heard NOTHING. After nearly 3 months I called Protax and was told Protax decided to withdraw my appeal. What an outrageous waste of my time and money filing an appeal, and total hubris on the part of Protax to take action that I was not consulted about. Protax offers tax base value appeal services for your property tax on your behalf. They get paid on the amount your tax base is decreased and therefore your tax bill. My personal experience is 1) their service is deficient (they appealed my assessment for a $50k decrease and got it - I called them to say this was ridiculous as I qualified for a higher decrease. I am a veteran in this field. I eventually got TEN TIMES the decrease by doing the work myself. 2) they are dishonest: Upon me lowering my assessment they wanted to get paid for it and sent threats of legal action and debt collection 3) They are rude: Aggressive and abusive language was used when I called them read more

I hired these guys. Dont be dumb like me. They saved me money the first year. But then I found out I signed up for 2 years. In the fine print. The 2nd year cost me almost $4,000. just about the same they saved me the 1st year. Then they sued me for years 3 and 4. I dont have a contract with them for years 3 and 4. I have been to court 3 times and each time they ask for an extension thinking I wont show up. They now put if off again until Dec, 2018. They call me and scream at me. One star is too generous... I took these guys to court and the Judge stated that their business model is "Egregious, one-sided, and takes complete advantage of those it services." In CA , "when a property is assessed under Proposition 8 the Office of the Assessor is automatically required to assess the property value every year", so what Protax bills for is a percentage of the tax savings that will come to you automatically since the "Assessor is required to re-assess your property each year as mandated by Proposition 8". So they are taking a percentage of your savings by claiming they got you a reduction in taxes when they had nothing to do with it! If you have a contract with Protax, cancel it, if you're looking for them to help you reduce your property tax bill, don't. read more
