This place is a joke. The staff is good and professional. The owner Steve is not. Two years ago, I needed guidance on adjusting my withholdings so more money is taken out. After about 8 to 10 calls, leaving messages he finally answers, tells me how busy he is and rushes through the document. A year later through Joe, I find out they are taking less money out. Steve gave me wrong information. Last year, again after calling Steve, leaving messages never getting a return call ( That should have been my clue to take my business and precious time elsewhere) and finally getting ahold of him, again him being Rude he with attitude gives me the correct information. Fast forward to today. I made my online appointment two weeks ago. Received email confirmation stating In Person appointment. Steve personally leaves me a voice message. We have you scheduled today for a virtual appointment and haven't received your docs??? Really......... He's calling me two hours before my appointment giving me once again Wrong information. Appointment is not Virtual but In Person. I called him back and advised that I got his message and my appointment is today In Person, not virtual. And he says oh, must be some misunderstanding as we have different information. Doesn't sound like he's interested in making it right, asked me what I want to do??? I advised my appointment is in two hours. Isn't there anyone available??? He says no, all booked. This guy is a joke. In my years I've worked with 3 different accountants for my tax returns, and after meeting Steve Castro I can't imagine going anywhere else (I now drive an hour just to see him to get my taxes done each year and would gladly drive further). I've been seeing him for 5 years now, so this review is for all 5 years of his services. He's extremely knowledgeable and gets you your max refund, is able to explain things in a digestible way to clients, gets things done quickly, and is super nice to boot. Steve gave back this year to veterans as well, which was a pleasant surprise (since I'm a vet). He donated his Sunday afternoons to doing taxes for veterans, for free. I've found my tax guy!! I was recommended to Steve by my mother and I am so glad I went to him. My taxes are simple and easy and I could probably file them myself. But the year I did that, was the year I had a bunch of issues with the IRS. And even if Steve didn't file them for me that year, he was still extremely helpful with me and helped me out! Now that's awesome service. He made everything simple, explained to me exactly what he was filling out so I wasn't sitting there confused, and he was so nice the entire time! He's fairly priced and they give a bunch of incentives too for a bigger discount. Refer friends and you'll get a discount. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a decent priced tax guy that doesn't lie or cheat or try to take your money without giving you the proper service. I went again this year! Unfortunately Steve was booked all the way until March. I didn't want to wait that long so I booked with another associate named Luis. He was available that same day, however I just booked a couple of days later. Anyways, of course the service was great! I felt comfortable and confident that they were filing my taxes for me. It wasn't free this year, but still super cheap! I even called up surrounding places in my area and almost all of them were at least double what he charged me. I have been going to Protax Associates for many years. I have always has Leah as my tax preparer. Leah is friendly, smart, and great at what she does. I love our yearly dates! She is very honest which I love. There have been times where my returns weren't always what I wanted them to be, but that was due to my claiming errors and she has always been upfront with me. This is a family business and I am always treated like one of the family when I go in. Steve is also awesome!! Joe, Leah's husband is super friendly as well. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with a smile by the front desk. There is a comfy couch and chairs to wait for your appointment. They have a television to watch and coffee or water to drink. It is comfortable and I absolutely LOVE it there!! If you are looking for a new tax person, check them out. read more

I discovered this place by merely googling "tax services around me" and I was fortunate to find Protax Associates for several reasons. For one I currently serving the Army and had served all last year in an active capacity and was informed that they would file my taxes for free! Which not many places will do which definitely made me feel appreciated. I had the pleasure of working with Steve this year for my taxes and couldn't have been happier. He was very kind and informative and also advised me on a couple personal financial questions I had. The last and most important reason is because there was a discrepancy with my taxes and found out someone was using my identity to file my taxes (fraud) and that it was rejected. Steve made sure to take care of me by finding time throughout his busy schedule to help me amend my taxes and give me the guidance I needed to fix and notify the IRS of this inconvenient situation. This is our third year filing with Luis and he's done a great job every year. He's efficient, thorough and always answers all of our questions and gives us the best advice he can. I believe they are priced very fair, much cheaper then H&R Block and a much more personal experience. The office is very clean and inviting, everyone we have encountered has been very polite and kind. We even had our 13 month old son with us and It didn't seem to bother Luis one bit, he just did his thing. We will be back for years to come. read more
