Do Not Hire - Disrespect, Poor Workmanship, and Broken Promises…read more We hired Fireplace Solutions and Services for a $37,000 fireplace remodel, and the experience was extremely disappointing. Although, in general, the fireplace does look good from afar, as you get closer anyone will notice the inconsistency and lack of workmanship. Especially for a project at this price point. Note: We did use very large format tile (4'x9') but this was communicated to their whole team multiple times. The project finished on time (2 weeks) but was clearly rushed. Our biggest complaint was about the hearth installation. It was the last thing to get done and was rushed leaving uneven and chipped tiles, untooled caulk between the floor and tile, grout haze, and some other minor items. Also, I raised concerns about the original thermostat placement three different times and was told it wouldn't be an issue. It now reads 16 degrees higher than the rest of the room. Although it was moved when they came back that day - see below - it has left a drywall patch that I now need to take care of. The owner (Steve) initially seemed helpful and agreed that all the issues needed fixing. A crew came back but spent just 2 hours doing cosmetic cover-ups. They left a bad drywall patch, didn't recaulk, and left even more grout hazed than the first time. When I followed up, the owner (Steve) completely changed his tone. On the phone, he told me "All you guys do is keep b***hing" and called my wife and I ungrateful. Since then, he's ignored all my calls and texts. I've only asked for partial reimbursement for the bad drywall patch and damaged hardwood floor -- and have heard nothing back. (They damaged the floor by dropping a tile). Now I am left covering these costs and possibly redoing the entire hearth at my own cost. This company showed total disrespect, dishonesty, and poor workmanship for us as clients. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

The part about it only being $1154.13 and not $1200 is a rounding issue and whether it was paid by me or part of the house purchase is irrelevant, it was paid for. The issue at hand is that Buck stated that if I had any issues using the fireplace once someone moved into the house, to let him know and they would walk us through using the unit, and since the house was going to be vacant for a while Buck told me he was going to shut off the gas and it would need to be turned back on when it got ready to be used, and AGAIN, if there was ANY question, he would be more that happy to walk us through the process and if needed, even stop by, NO CHARGE. Due to an EXTENSIVE remodel, it was almost 2 years before we started showing the house and wanted to use the fireplace. When we were unable to use it, we contacted you, the Office Manager stated that it was outside of the normal time period and they were not going to stand by their work or word and that it would cost me $275, and that if anybody else performed any work, even a checkup on the unit after their work, that it would void any and all warranties if there were any. Because of this whole issue, we were unable to ever demonstrate the fireplace at any of the showings. Given all of that, we had an entire winter of not being able to use it. Simple and to the point, honor your word and get the unit working and I will change my review, otherwise I stand by my word and so should you.

The past few weeks the logs (which we purchased online) in our outdoor fireplace were not lighting correctly. We had an appointment set at 10:30 a.m. and Jacob arrived EARLY! Fixed our problem quickly and charged us an agreeable fee. Let's face it, gas fireplaces are like hot tubs....they are somewhat of a luxury and we have to pay to keep them up. Their service technician was on time, polite, professional and quick. My entire service including replacing the Control Module and installation of a new Remote Control unit and thorough cleaning took only 20 minutes from in the door to out. THAT is great service. What is NOT great service is the fact that their markup on parts is WAY out of line. The exact parts used...if I had known and purchased on Amazon would have been; Control Module - $60 (he charged me $215) Remote Control Unit - $109 (he charged me $375) I understand a 40% to 50% markup...even a 100% for smaller cost parts...but 300% ++ is just greed and maybe additional commission for the installer that said he was one of the owners or part of the owners family. Note: in his defense the remote was purchased because we couldn't move the furniture to give him access to a simple wall switch that he said would have cost me $15. (Which is included with the remote control package from Amazon) Conclusion: If you like all of the good things I have shared about this company...DO use them. IF you don't like the negative comments...and can diagnose the problem and buy the parts yourself...AND they will still install them for the service charge...THEN even I would use them again. With an "L" shaped screwdriver the switch could have been changed out....but he didn't have or produce one....nor did I and even if I could have moved everything it would have taken him MUCH more time.
