I would not recommend this place. Old. Felt dirty. Breakfast looked bad. Better places to stay in town. I didn't feel safe.

    K-Diamond K Ranch

A Diamond in the Rough! If you want to take your children or…read moregrandchildren to a "real" ranch, K-Diamond-K is the place to go ! The ranch was founded by hard-working Stephen & veterinarian June Konz in 1961. The present gorgeous large log cabin lodge and all its furniture was self-built by the Konz family between 2000-2008, and is now run by their eldest daughter Kathy (Konz) McKay, husband Brian McKay, and son Stephen McKay. This is the real deal when it comes to western ranches. They raise their own longhorn cattle. You couldn't ask for more ! My wife and I took two of our grandchildren to the ranch planning to spend three days from Thursday, July 31st 2025 to Sunday August 3rd 2025, and ended up extending our stay to August 4, 2025 because our grandchildren had so much fun. What can kids do at K-Diamond-K ? Read the signs and look at the pictures included with this review. This is "real" ranch life with a host that is brimming with smiles and spirit. Kids can rise at 7 am (Don't worry, your excited kids will be waking you up !) to feed the baby animals and gather some fresh eggs from the chicken coop. Then they can accompany owner, Kathy, on her ATV to the ranch's lower valley to milk Kathy's cow Rosebud. Rosebud delivers 3 gallons of milk every morning and every evening, and you will become an expert milker after a short time. Then around 7:30 am, the kids can accompany Kathy on her ATV to round up the ranch's ~50 horses that have been grazing in the lower valley overnight and herd them back to the corral by the lodge. Breakfast is served at 8 am. After breakfast, your kids can brush and love-on a horse and go for a horseback ride on the ranch's 1,600-acre property at 9:30 am or enjoy a completely different ranch activity. Lunch is served at 12:30 pm. Each day is spent doing "exactly what you want to do". The ranch has all the facilities and gear you need for any activity you desire (riding boots, hats, gloves, ropes for roping, biking, fishing, archery, a pickle ball court and a basketball hoop, or just plain relaxing on one of the ranch decks, or on the front lawn lounge chairs). You get three delicious meals a day and will never be hungry. Kathy, cook Chloe, and wranglers Madeleine and Evelyne truly worked as a team during our visit. By the way, the cream in your coffee and the ice cream dessert you enjoy at meal time all come from Rosebud ! So, if you haven't made ice cream before, you can see how its done ! Our grandchildren immediately loved feeding the miniature pigs, milking Rosebud twice a day (they had never milked a cow before), and accompanying Kathy on her daily ritual of herding the horses to the corral in the morning and back to the valley in the evening. They also very much enjoyed the large outdoor trampoline in front of the lodge. We went horseback riding, fishing at Swan Lake, visited the ranch's abandoned gold mine, panned for gold, spent time in the petting zoo, and enjoyed mountain biking. We also played many fun games in the lodge. The kids particularly liked scrabble and the foosball and air hockey tables in the basement. Every evening after dinner, the kids would go to the outdoor trampoline, play games, and sit around the large outdoor campfire to make smore and identify the planets and constellations with the help of our phone's "Skyview" app. Our grandchildren also made some new friends at the ranch and exchanged emails with them to hopefully see them again on a future visit !

Halfway thru our stay another large group came without reservations and wanted to stay, we were asked to go back to the original room assignments which we did. During our stay, food was mediocre at best, as the weeks progressed, less and less of it was cooked at dinner time, good choices decreased. At check out time, the owner then decided that the negotiated price for the stay was not enough and tried to raise our final payment. This due to the fact that for half our stay we used twice the rooms. The main hall was dusty and there were a lot of flies. Garbage cans were rarely emptied. Disgusting place. I did notice that Yelp deleted my original review of this dump so I had to post again.

I heard the cashier ( who was ringing up my items and bagging them) say, "we need to get him out of here". I asked her was she referring to my son, who was currently looking at candy near the register my son took one out and asked me if it was candy. I told him yes; my son turned to a customer who was behind us and showed the candy to him then my returned the candy to the plastic container and put it on the counter. The cashier stated that my son was passing out candy and I said no he was showing it to the customer behind us. Cashier's response was "our security is not familiar with him and might misunderstand him. Which made no sense to me. Staff needs to be inserviced on the Rights of the Disabled mentally/physically. The cashier's explanation, in regard to security was totally unacceptable left me very uncomfortable. It would have been a sad day for security. Not in CA we reside is Oroville and I expect more from this community in regard to all of our Special Needs Children

Room is clean, spacious, little fridge and microwave in case you buy the Red Hot Bomb burrito from the mini mart. In room Keurig but they offer free coffee and cocoa in the store. If you've traveled for many days, there's a laundry mat connected. There's a little picnic area next to the stretch of rooms. Heater works, carpet is new and rooms are clean. Beds are comfy. Noise from road seems to be a bit loud but I brought ear phones and a sleep hypnosis app :-)

We stayed in a one bedroom cabin, yes the cabins are old and need updating but everything was clean and worked. The microwave, coffee pot, toaster, oven, sinks, shower, toilet and beds were very clean and in great working condition. I saw they have started remodeling some of their cabins and are working on getting things up to date, however a place this big after a pandemic might take some time to get it all remodeled right away. The beach was clean and beautiful, the docks were in Great condition (we loved the night fishing). They have a nice big area for rv and campers, the play area for kids is nice, we rented a boat for the day and it was nice. They have some amazing fishing in their area and lake. Love their store, we got everything we forgot to bring there plus some fun stuff. We will definitely be returning to this place in the future. I would recommend it to friends and family.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Tiffany's resort this weekend for one night at Cabin 5. We found the place infectiously dirty to the level of health abd safety and the only positive was the lake view. We arrived at 5:15 pm, we brought our stuff in the cabin and had to leave and returned at 8:00 pm. The owners leave at 5:30 pm and so when we came back there was no one to contact. These cabins have obviously been constructed at time when lead paint was used in these facilities. The cabin has tons of decaying wood peeling paint and obvious mold growing in and around the sink area. The caulking was little to nonexistent there was cracks in the concrete floor in the livingroom and bathroom, the floors were so dirty that we had to wear our shoes and there were light fixtures that did not work. The windows did not stay open and if they did they had, there were broken screens which were duck taped to seal the screen. There was a serious gap in the door which allowed the outside wind and air to enter the cabin including bugs. When we looked up at the light at night there were tons of little green flies around the light. The beds were covered with old, motel like cover, which was not clean, smelled like bio, and the bed was covered with cheap sheets, on an old mattress. I checked for bed bugs... did not see anything, but who knows? All of the furniture in this cabin, was old, dirty and run down; bed side tables were missing handles. In the bathroom we found two soaps and no shampoo. The gas heater in the living room did not work, the couches were filthy, and all stained and dusty, God knows what was on them...You would not want to bring a blue light in this cabin. There is no doubt when the facilities were originally constructed, they were fantastic and were the place to build family memories. In the review book, people reference those magical times, but now these cabins pose a serious health hazard to those hoping to enjoy the lake. There's a serious concern of mold spores, being dirty, lack of sanitation, period, not to mention the required sanitation due to COVID-19 protocols, the structures severely asked the question should they be condemned for health and safety purposes?? We understand staying in the rustic cabin, we also do not mind old, but we do not pay to stay in filthy and condemned places. We rented it as a choice for staying in a tent, as the nights are getting cold and we knew we were coming in late, but this type of facility looks like something that you would find abandoned with no maintenance being done for years. And all this for the price of $118.00 plus taxes, per night, when the state park across the way charges $30 a night for a tent spot and the grounds there are spotless, pristine and maintained amazingly. While the cabins are decaying slowly, the owner is building a new building and their current home, which is right on the property, oozes with the fancy and richness of a Beverly Hills like mansion with big expensive looking signs with warning of no soliciting or trespassing on their private property with "top od the line quality" sectional on their porch. At check out we provided the feedback about the cabins. The owners feelings of discomfort were only concerned because another potential client was in the room at the same tim with me and heard what I was saying about the state of the cabins. Moreover, owners continue asking me why we didnt leave when it was so bad...or why didn't we say anthing. How can one provide feedback when no one is typically available after 5:30 pm. The owners responded that they are sorry, and as soon as I walked out, they excused themselves to the client in the room, saying that they were sorry the client had to hear what I had to say. They did not seem to see that this was a health and safety concern, especially in the world of COVID -19. We won't be back!
