There are two dump stations near the entrance. When the park is full I suspect the dump station could get crowded. There are playgrounds for the kids in between the major campground areas. Restrooms and showers were decent. It's a well maintained campground especially for a public one.

Gone are the onslaught of splinters, burns from the hot metal slides and being attacked by the countless wasps hiding in the nooks, crannies and roof peaks. Even back then, this was the park to go to! Fast forward to a recent refresh, the playground is still sprawling and super diverse, something for everyone! Wood has been replaced by plastic and metal but the laughter of kids as they run wild is still here. The only downside is maybe the lack of parking, but on hot summer days you'll find the ice cream truck posted up in the lot closest to the playground. What I really love about this park is that's it's more than just a playground. The greenway cuts through it making bike riding an awesome option. Keeping in that theme, there's a BMX style dirt track with whoops, table tops and fat banks and burms. A comprehensive skateboard park, tennis courts, a huge open grassy area, covered seating for parties and a large dog park round out this sprawling Medford classic.

I spent more time swinging with the youngest grandson, and watching him and his 8 years old playmate (friends since toddlers), and walking around to the nearest creek & bridge. It was a challenge finding parking but when we did, we excitedly walked to the park anticipating the enjoyment we would all have. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were greeted with multiple signs advising that the park does not allow dogs and encouraging people to walk their dogs around outside the park. We did that, as well as attempting one of the trail options but we have better options for that without driving here, hence the two stars. We also understand the necessity of not allowing dogs is specific locations so this review is for anyone researching because the Internet has told them this is a dog friendly place. It is not.

What a beautiful national park!…read more Came here on a day where the weather changed between partly cloudy/sunny and snowy/rainy. The snowy surroundings created a nice contrast against the very deep blue color of the lake. In the early morning, it was very peaceful. There were not many people around, likely because of weather. The Steel Visitor Center's film was excellent to get a sense of the geology and history of the park. The lodge also offered an excellent meal with a partial view of the lake. Because of the snow, we were not able to go on the Rim Drive or hike the trails. I would imagine all the views would have been beautiful. The Cleetwood Cove trail down to the lake is closed for 3 summers, through 2028. If weather is of any question, the NPS website has up-to-date information about the weather, including webcams of several spots in the park.

We purchased the annual national park pass at the front gate, sad to hear that the national park staff keeps being reduced and scary to know that there's only *one* emergency ranger on staff currently so please follow the rules folks! Lot's of cute shops for goodies and campgrounds along the way. We stayed an hour away but the drive felt fast and scenic. A nice breath of fresh air. The large parking lot seemed to fill up fast to see the lake, but super close so very accessible. A few hikes were open but honestly just sitting and admiring the lake does the trick. There is an easy pathway that offers stunning views of the Rogue River and four overlook points for capturing great photos. Find the Rogue Gorge Day-Use Area and parking lot on the west side of OR 62, just north of Union Creek Resort. It is a quick, easy stop, well worth your time.

First, this was kind of an add on stop after grabbing a bite to eat just around the corner. First thing we did was explore the path. I should add that the path is relatively flat and easy to navigate for anyone that has a hard time with hikes. This is a paved path and is pretty flat from one end to the other. There are a few spots you can go down steps for a closer vantage point, but the most steps you will encounter is about 10 at any one point. Great shots of the Rogue can be captured all along the pathway as you walk to the upper point of the viewing area. Just guessing, but round trip I'd say that the total walk distance is approx. 1/2 mile. Now to go into details as to why only three stars. I can't go without saying, the bathrooms here are absolutely disgusting. My gf turned and walked away after the initial door opening/smell that escaped when the door was opened. For this reason alone I had to deduct 1 - 2 stars. If you are just here for the views and don't use the restroom facilities then I'd highly recommend. Really cool all in all minus the bathroom experience.
