If you have never been to a hot spring before, the first thing you will notice is the smell. It's not human poop or pee, hot springs release a gas called sulphur which smells like rotten eggs. You get used to the smell prettty quickly or you don't. Either way it's natural so don't worry. If you are not a hiker I wouldn't recommend this spot. The forest rangers usually keep the entrance of this place closed so be prepared to walk about 2 miles to the entrance of the hot spring. Once you get to the parking lot of the hot spring, you are going to have to hike up a pretty steep slope but don't worry, there are some make shift hand rails that will guide you to the spring. Please for the love of god don't forget towels, water and possibly a flashlight if you are going at night. Also clean up after yourself. Don't leave trash or wet clothes behind for someone else to pick up.

The space features a short hike with waterfall views and access to large boulders and parts of the beautiful Rogue River. I stopped here on the way back from Crater Lake National Park. The turnoff from the highway is easy to miss. In fact, I missed it myself and had to turn back around in the middle of the road. There's a small parking lot with a highly degraded trail map and a few portable restrooms near the beginning of the trailhead. The hike is pretty short, I'd say less than 2 miles round trip. You start off on a flat path that will take you to a two-way intersection. If you bear left, the trail will lead you the Rogue River and the Avenue of the Boulders. And if you bear right, the trail continues to two separate viewpoints; Barr Creek Falls and Mill Creek Falls. I decided to hit the falls first. The hike is pretty easy with gentle rolling inclines. It's entirely shaded by big beautiful trees. The first waterfall in view will be Mill Creek Falls. These falls absolutely stunning! They were flourishing in late fall. The second set of falls is just a short walk up a some log steps. This is where you'll find Barr Creek Falls. These falls weren't as robust as Mill Creek Falls, but they were still very charming. You'll also get a glimpse of the beautiful Siskiyou forest in the backdrop. On the way back, I headed down the other way toward the Avenue of the Boulders. I've been to the Avenue of the Giants before in Humboldt County, but the the Avenue of the Boulders are a completely different experience. They're comprised of huge boulders, many of which you can climb to get a better view of the falls and the Rogue River that flows down below. Simply one of the most gorgeous sights that I've ever seen! The Rogue River is so comforting and calming. This a total relaxation spot. A place where you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the view. Enjoy the sounds and sights of the river flowing beneath your feet. It's truly endearing. Who would have thought that something this beautiful could be hidden away in a small town just outside of Crater Lake? It's so amazing and yet still extremely secluded. If you're coming up to Crater Lake, a visit to Mill Creek Falls and be Avenue of the Boulders should definitely be added to your list.

It's a downward hike and you don't notice it until the hike back out, but it's fairly easy and short so it's a great little stop over for a worthwhile view. Several side trails to water but not a great view of the falls. When leaving Gold Hill before you reached the freeway entrance had a roadway under a bridge. Fall Creek Falls- AMAZING!!!…read more I love this place! The hike to the Falls is beautiful with plenty of things to explore, and is not all that far. When I got to the Falls there was a family there that was just leaving and I wound up having that entire area to myself for about 45 minutes. I spent more than half of the time meditating directly under and right next to the falls, make sure you bring a bathing suit so that you can really get in there and sit under the water. It was by far one of the most energizing waters I've ever had the pleasure of being in, it was alive, electric and conscious and really gave me the mental, spiritual, physical recharge that I had needed for so long. I don't think you can truly understand until you go there yourself and get under that water for some time. You have no idea. Much love to Fall Creek Falls and the beautiful drive getting there.

The trail up is through the burn zone on a well-maintained mostly flat path that zig-zags to the falls. While not one of the more spectacular falls you'll encounter on this road, it's accessible to most anyone.

We came here with our two friends each of them having a little one strapped to their backs. Our dog Momo was also part of the group and she particularly loved this walk. At the time we were her in late spring (end of May), we were able to see still lots of wild flowers, but my friend mentioned that Renee were even more a few weeks earlier. The trails are mostly leading through forest area and so you're in the shade most of the time. We took a trail that led us to the peak and we were able to enjoy lovely views over the valley. Note: there's lots of poison oak here. If you have small kids with you, remind them to be vigilant.

Parking for this is about a couple miles from the entrance. Its usually packed due to the amount of people overlooking the lake and taking pictures vs the amount of people going up to this trail. When you look towards the lake from this viewpoint, the trail is just to the right. Head straight and you will see a sign to either go to Rim Trail or Watchman Trail. I believe Rim Trail is a flat long path to a view but its not as nice as Watchman Trail's. You can eat up at the Peak as a reward but space is limited.

If you come from discovery point it would be longer but you would avoid any of the snow crossings. Totally worth the hike- one of the most amazing views in the park especially at sunrise or sunset! Lots of different wildflowers along the way and panoramic views. There is a cute fire lookout that appears to no longer be in use at the top.

There is an easy pathway that offers stunning views of the Rogue River and four overlook points for capturing great photos. Find the Rogue Gorge Day-Use Area and parking lot on the west side of OR 62, just north of Union Creek Resort. It is a quick, easy stop, well worth your time.

First, this was kind of an add on stop after grabbing a bite to eat just around the corner. First thing we did was explore the path. I should add that the path is relatively flat and easy to navigate for anyone that has a hard time with hikes. This is a paved path and is pretty flat from one end to the other. There are a few spots you can go down steps for a closer vantage point, but the most steps you will encounter is about 10 at any one point. Great shots of the Rogue can be captured all along the pathway as you walk to the upper point of the viewing area. Just guessing, but round trip I'd say that the total walk distance is approx. 1/2 mile. Now to go into details as to why only three stars. I can't go without saying, the bathrooms here are absolutely disgusting. My gf turned and walked away after the initial door opening/smell that escaped when the door was opened. For this reason alone I had to deduct 1 - 2 stars. If you are just here for the views and don't use the restroom facilities then I'd highly recommend. Really cool all in all minus the bathroom experience.

We were here visiting family and had already planned a trip to Crater Lake. Even though it wasn't raging and spectacular it's a neat place to stop and check out this unnatural event. Since there hadn't been rain in awhile it was pretty mild (see pics), but if you can time it right and there has been rain for a few (or more) days it becomes much more glorious. Nice little stop area that is kept clean and has a couple nice vantage points for viewing. If you're in the area this should make your list of nature oriented things to do, especially if you are already heading up the North Umpqua for a day of site seeing.

This is a beautiful river located about 18-20 miles east of Roseburg, OR at Glide. It's called…read more"Colliding Rivers" because the waters from the North Umpqua River meets the Little River. We went to Oregon to spend Thanksgiving w/ his Mom and this little scenic stop happened to be the destination that Kevin wanted to take me to. The weather was cold so my kiddo stayed in the car w/ his Mom... Kevin and I explored alongside the rivers a few minutes just to be in awe w/ nature and of course, take a few pictures. It was certainly breathtaking and I had a great vacation.
