There is a sign that directs you to the small parking lot. From the parking lot, reaching the waterfall is an easy half-mile walk through the forest, with a few switchbacks along the way. The trail is well cared for, dogs are welcome on leash, and the peaceful beauty of the woods made the journey every bit as rewarding as the falls. Although, we had been warned about the mosquitos in the area, they were not an issue at all when we were there. Well worth the slight detour on your way to Crater Lake, Diamond Lake or the Rogue River Gorge.

Fall Creek Falls- AMAZING!!!…read more I love this place! The hike to the Falls is beautiful with plenty of things to explore, and is not all that far. When I got to the Falls there was a family there that was just leaving and I wound up having that entire area to myself for about 45 minutes. I spent more than half of the time meditating directly under and right next to the falls, make sure you bring a bathing suit so that you can really get in there and sit under the water. It was by far one of the most energizing waters I've ever had the pleasure of being in, it was alive, electric and conscious and really gave me the mental, spiritual, physical recharge that I had needed for so long. I don't think you can truly understand until you go there yourself and get under that water for some time. You have no idea. Much love to Fall Creek Falls and the beautiful drive getting there.

We were here visiting family and had already planned a trip to Crater Lake. Even though it wasn't raging and spectacular it's a neat place to stop and check out this unnatural event. Since there hadn't been rain in awhile it was pretty mild (see pics), but if you can time it right and there has been rain for a few (or more) days it becomes much more glorious. Nice little stop area that is kept clean and has a couple nice vantage points for viewing. If you're in the area this should make your list of nature oriented things to do, especially if you are already heading up the North Umpqua for a day of site seeing.

We went to Oregon to spend Thanksgiving w/ his Mom and this little scenic stop happened to be the destination that Kevin wanted to take me to. So we took a drive through the park the next day on our way back from town and it is a beautiful park, it sits on the banks of the North Umpqua River which is a very nice river. This was a free fishing weekend in Oregon so it was a popular place to be. Too busy for us to even drop a line in. Maybe next time we are passing through it won't be during the restrictive months and our dogs can enjoy this really pretty park. I'm sure it is because there are people out there who don't have dog etiquette and don't clean up after their pets which is too bad for the rest. Nice park though well kept and it has a boat launch, group picnic areas that you can reserve as there were reserved signs up.

There is a parking area with a bit of grass for dogs and kids to stretch their legs. There was one person in a truck backed in the shade and another in a parking spot having a sandwich while his dog enjoyed the grass. There is, also, boat launch which is available during the rainy season, I'm told, but right now the river is so low that there is no river at the end of the boat ramp right now at the start of September. The gentleman down there said that the river was the lowest he's seen (and he grew up here) this summer because of the drought brought on by global warming. Harold and Sid Nichols Park and Boat Ramp was constructed with funds from the City of Winston, the State Marine Board, and the Department of Fish & Wildlife using Federal Sport Fish Restoration Funds. The facility is owned and operated by the City of Winston. This project would not have been possible without the additional support of the Umpqua Fishermen's Association and the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians. I appreciate the city for keeping up this wonderful place to be by the river so close to the city.
