After talking to the salesman, Jason Runyun about my 1992 pontoon boat, I decided to repower it with a new Mercury 90 HP motor. When I got to the dealership the sales guy says "Oh, I didn't know you had a motor on it" even though he had pictures, and I had ask about the control box working because it was OMC brand. That should have been a clue for me. I left the boat, the next day I ask if I could get a tach/ hour meter to keep track of the hours on my new motor. The sales guy claims he never saw one in his life, even though almost every boat has one. He ask to send him pictures of what I was talking about. So I did, and he told me he could get the Mercury Quicksilver tach/hour meter. So I agreed. After I got my boat back, the brand new OMC control box that I had just installed, that I ask to remove carefully, so I could resell. They just cut the cables, with no regard for my wishes. Also the tach/he meter they installed under the cowl, making it impossible to read it while using the engine. The sales guy thought that the location was a great place?
Then the rpm's were not reading right , I ask about the setting and was quickly sent to the service dept, Scoot Reed, who listened to my complaint and told me he would call Mercury and get answers for me. He calls back in a few hours and tells me that the gauge they sold me won't work on the engine I have, even though it says that it would work on that engine. But they had another option for $250. But they would not take the other gauge back. Supposedly because I insisted on that gauge! Even though all I did was asked for a tach/hr meter. And never insisted on any gauge.
My recommendation is never go to Pro Choice Marine for anything. The salesman lied to my face, lied to the service guys, who in turn lied to me about how I got the gauge to start with. They sold it, installed it, and said they tested it. Obviously that was also a lie, because it would only read to about 4000 rpm , which is why I called to figure out what was going on with the engine because it was supposed to run about 5000-6000 rpm.
The salesman and the service guy have since ghosted me, and when I asked their website who I could send complaints too, Luke Payne answered about what type of complaint. When I explained what was going on, they have ghosted me also. I have all their names and emails and texts to prove everything I am saying. So don't waste your money at Pro Choice Marine. read more
