Came in on a Thursday afternoon, so it wasn't busy at all. I'm not a big beer drinker, but it looks like they have a decent selection of beers and the beer I got was pretty good. My buddies seemed to enjoy their beers also. I think it's Utah law, so I think anything over 5% abv has to be in a can. They also charge for samplers here. I believe the worker said it was $2? You can order food from next door at Proper Burger and they will deliver it to you. I got a mushroom Swiss burger and it was pretty good. They have a bunch of other types of burgers and my buddies also enjoyed their burgers, fries, and onion rings. This place also has several TVs, pinball machines, skeeball, and pool tables. They also have a little store where you can purchase beer and other Proper Brewing items. Because it wasn't busy at all, we were able to enjoy a few beers and our burgers and were able to hang out and talk for a while. Not sure how it is when it is really busy, but it's a cool spot to get a drink and some food and hang out for a while without being bothered or asked to leave.
Great burgers and fries. They have some creative ideas with their burgers I have to say. Fries are also great. They have a delicious cheese fries menu. But the beer menu is amazing. Fun vibes.. give them a try.
Had this beer at another establishment while visiting Park City, so when spending time in Salt Lake City decided to check out the Proper Brewing. We checked it out on a Monday afternoon so it was a great place to chill. Mondays they have free pool, so that was a fun surprise in showing up there and kept us there for a few hours. Also tried the Shorty's, was a great beer as well. The bartender working was extremely friendly, answered all of our questions on the beers while offering up his favorites too. Would definitely come back to hang out when in Sat Lake City!
The burgers are always delicious. The bun is fresh and burger fixings are tasty! I love the zucchini pickles and appreciate the healthy portions. The fries are fresh. A large portion can be shared by two people. There is a great selection of craft beers and cocktails. Service is great. Staff is friendly and laid back, while being attentive. Proper Brewing, which is next door to Proper Burger, is a great place to hangout. They have sports playing on a large screen on the wall, there are plenty of retro games for those that want to hang around for awhile. Will be back!
This is a pretty popular brewery, where most people grab a burger from the sister business proper burger next door. There are some arcade games and pool tables. They will definitely fun out of seats on a busy night but the atmosphere is fairly relaxed. I was able to stop in and try a number of samplers and get a few pints. Overall the beers were good. They definitely have a large number of ipas and hoppy beers. I didn't love the balance on their sours, but because the beer rotate through, they might be better the next time I visit. The staff was very pleasant and made some good recommendations for what to try next.
Such good beers at Proper Brewing! Extra bonus points go to this brewery as it is open later than a lot of the other ones in the city and this is a city that rolls the sidewalks up early for a urban area of it's size. I got a lovely wheat beer here which I was very impressed with and the atmosphere is cool too. Kind of a lot going on at this location. One part of it serves burgers and another part is a merchandise shop. Parts of it seems to close earlier than other areas. The taproom looks like it's the last to close. Good place to stop and especially so if you touring SLC breweries.
It's a fun atmosphere! Plenty of seating and good beer. We came during covid and all the games were shut down. Now that covid is pretty much over, the games are back on! There's skee ball, arcade games, pinball machines, pool table, and shuffle board. All the games are free or affordable so it's a cheap and easy date night plan. Depending on which beer you order, it can get pricy. I like IPAs and they are obviously more expensive than the regular stuff. They didn't have the hopspital which was my preference so I went with something else.
Stopped in after a long flight. Was a little confusing. If you want food you have to order next door and they will bring the food over. Hopefully there's not a long line to order food and then hopefully you don't have to wait to order drinks. We didn't have such luck. We were told we couldn't open our can of water while the rest of the group was ordering (food ) and had to open next door. That was confusing and explain LaCroix is a sparkling water only, they still said no. Ok back over the the brewery again to order. Drinks were mehhh nothing crazy. Had some fun games we played. Music was not to loud, which was good since it made you feel like you were in s weird 90 's video game. I order the Utah Johnny burger which was good, large basket of fries again good. Overall I think I would pass on this place if you're looking up places in SLC.
Really great ambiance. Solid choice to just kick back and try some creative brews. Slow day so service was great. Friendly staff, worth a stop!

This place is neat. They also have a hamburger shop next door that they server food thru. The space is nice with a pool table and arcade space. They had a distillery cocktail event that was pretty neat and got to try some of their collabs. The staff is very nice and chill and very helpful. The beer is decent with many different varieties on tap. read more

Just picked up some 4 packs of Lake Effect and Recommended Rye. The bar is only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5-11 but the beer store is open daily from 12 until 8 PM. read more

We've been here before, but this time it seemed a little more special. We always love to sit at the bar so that we can talk to the bartender and pick his brain about what to order. There are so many options and every beverage has its own flair. This time on our visit we ordered food from the proper burger next-door. They were very nice to deliver our food right to the bar where we were sitting wow that was awesome. It is always nice to be able to go to a pub or bar on a Sunday when you're in Salt Lake City. As the night went on the place filled up with people playing pool and playing games and having a good time. We usually leave with a growler of beer and this time was no exception. read more
I was so confused when I walked in, sat at a table, and waited for a server for quite some time. I had to get up and ask the bartender how to order food. They don't serve food at Proper Brewing. You have to order from Proper Burger (next door) and they deliver it to you at the bar. That's confusing for people coming for their first time. As far as the food I tried, I would say the El Mariachi burger was really good - avocado spread, pico de gallo, and a good spice to it (Mmmm). Good assortment of many different burgers from classic style to burgers with kimchi. The price is about $10 for gourmet burgers w/ no fries included. read more

Tried a couple stouts that were good. Wasn't a fan of the cheese dip. I recommend toasting the bread on both sides. read more
Proper has become my go-to spot lately. Almost every day of the week they have some sort of decent special or interesting event going on (I'll add a photo of their daily specials in a minute). They have a decent variety of beers which I like, it's not just a bunch of IPAs, or German beers or anything --you can really find something you're looking for here. They have some real good beer and you can carry it out in a crowler or growler for home drinking too.They can or bottle it real quick and you can be in and out in under 5 minutes with a decent haul of solid beer. Going next door for burgers is great too, they have some awesome flavors but that's technically its own business so I should review it separately but... good food! The atmosphere is fun at Proper Brewing too with all the shuffleboard tables, pool, pinball, skeeball etc. It's a great hangout bar. read more

Dropped by to check out this new Moab brewery. Staff was great, the chili cheese fries were awesome! I was lucky to be the first customer to try their new beer, the Daily, that was brewed for this Moab location. I give it a thumbs up. Definitely put this on your places to go when you hit Moab. read more

I get that proper brewing and proper burger are two different entities, but this set up blows and it really pains me to say that, because their beer is some of the best we've had and the food was absolutely bomb.... I feel like both places are losing out on an extreme amount of money by the ridiculous set up they have. Standing in line for food for 30 plus minutes to turn around and have to go stand in line for beer for 20+ minutes is stupid. We would've loved to stay and visit and hang out and drink more, but it was so god forsaken loud and the line for drinks was so long that it made it miserable. You can't even enjoy who you're with or enjoy the experience or any of their drinks and food.... we won't come back unless it's the middle of the day, not during a rush, Never again on a Saturday night!!! Super disappointing because it is cool, amazing beer and food and I've been dying to try it. read more

So we had been here before just to have some beers, but hadn't had the food even though we had heard it was good. We happened to be in the area and while we would normally go to a place a little further south that is known for it's burgers we decided to try a new place. Wow, are we glad we did. So first of all, the beer, just as it was on our first visit, was amazingly good. Well made, and what you'd expect from a good craft brewery. I started with a Cream ale on nitro which was truly amazing and was what I was craving a couple nights earlier at another place that left me a bit disappointed. As we usually do when a space is available we sat at the bar in order to observe what they are doing and maybe pick up some tips about how they do things. Since it was a bit slow early on a Sunday evening we had the opportunity to visit with Joe, who was working behind the bar that night. He was great. I mean really, really great. He was super knowledgeable about the drinks there and much like me he had worked in the kitchen prior to moving out front and had a really good appreciation of flavors and how they worked together. It was amazing to get to pick his brain and discuss beer and spirits with him. My wife had the Patersbier to start, but what sticks in my memory is her second beverage, is the Chupacabra. A truly unique and delicious change from the usual fare. And we continued to discover that this is not an unusual occurrence here, the art of the cocktail is truly a rediscovered art here, with ingredients made from scratch, and unique flavor combinations being the order of the day. I mean who makes sour mix from scratch anymore? These guys that's who. Then there is the food. As I mentioned, we had not had the opportunity to partake of it on our first admittedly brief visit. Now normally, as I mentioned, we often visit a popular place to the south that is well known for it's burgers and until this visit had you asked I would have said it was my favorite. But now I have a second favorite. My wife had her usual bacon cheese burger, but I had the Pork City. These were seriously some of the best burgers either of us have had. ANYWHERE. I really can't say much more than that. The fries were good, the Onion rings were good and we appreciated the fact that by ordering a large side we could get half and half, but we have had better and that those items are better in our other favorite place is all I can say to find as a fault. If you like a good beer, a well made cocktail, or a tasty burger, or a combination there of, this is your place to go in the SLC with a reputation for a great burger and a great drink that is well deserved. read more
