I have been here twice and there really is no middle ground when dealing with this type of business. They either do and stand by top quality work or they don't. Hinckley is a premier brand yacht and service center and charge accordingly. We had items both large and small done. Some were done correctly and others were not. 85-90% is not OK when your talking about systems that your life can depend on. Most telling, they did not stand by the work, so $$$$ for nothing. This was a gift from my son and I was going to meet him at the Landing to go fishing. No customers were in the store. I actually thought they were closed, but I went in. 2 men walked out of the office to see what I wanted. I told one of them I needed to have my new rod spooled, and he just said they couldn't do it. I really should have pushed back, but I was just without words. NOBODY...I mean nobody else was in the store, and they didn't close for 2 more hours, and they can't(WON't) put some lousy monofilament on a fishing rod spool? He didn't even give a reason why...just said they couldn't do it today. WHY?? Because of how incredibly busy he was? I would have to come back next week. YEAH RIGHT!! I spent a couple hundred dollars at this store over Christmas for gifts, then I come back and get this treatment? WTH?? Full disclosure...these guys were not rude, but just sterile and clinical...we are just not doing this today. Ok...guess what? I'm going elsewhere from now on with ANY business of mine, and sharing this experience with my circles. I can be clinical too. River services is a great company with a great business model, but it won't stay that way long with service like this. To me River "SERVICES" IS A MIS-nomer. We were in need of a battery for our boat and they had what we needed. One catch - we were without a car because we were on our winter boat cruise. From the moment we set off, Bryan's energy, knowledge, and sense of fun made the trip something truly special. We went shark tooth hunting (and found A LOT!), got an awesome history lesson along the way, and explored beautiful Daufuskie Island. Bryan is not only an incredible captain but also a fantastic guide who made the entire experience engaging and memorable for the whole family. Finding him and the boat was easy and he was ready to go. We took advantage of the cooler on board and thanks for the blanket because it did get cold once the sun set. We learned a lot about the Savannah waterways and history but at the same time we also got to just sit and take in the incredible sunset and dolphins. You can tell he just loves doing this! We just completed a haul out at the boatyard for our 1987 Jefferson 46' M/Y the Sea Angel…read more When these folks state this is a "Full Service" establishment, they are spot on. They have the ability to take on whatever issues that might arise from a haul out. Steve and his staff could not have been more accommodating. We had a list of things that we wanted repaired or replaced and their estimate was what was quoted. Not only that but an engine room inspection found additional things that NEEDED to be replaced before serious troubles escalated. These repairs here again were within the estimate quoted. They kept us informed of the progress being made to our vessel. At one point the 8" exhaust elbows were found to be leaking. This situation could have resulted in an engine room fire! Upon finding that it would take an additional two weeks for the elbows to be made and delivered, Matt, their mechanic, fabricated the 4 elbows needed on location. They were built stronger than what could have been purchased and here again at the quoted price. Our boat received a pedicure, manicure, and facial wax. She was much better off back in the water as to when she arrived. I have owned a boat company in the past, as well as a current Yacht Broker. You can trust this Captain stating that we are very well satisfied with our Oct. 2015 haul out and repairs to our yacht. Captain Mark and Becky Covington Lady's Island, S.C.
