Not impressed with the food or the items on the menu. The only thing nice about this restaurant is the patio.

Did you know they have a Bloody Mary bar!?!? I walked by and didn't even know, sat down, ordered a Bloody Mary, and heard the great news! They had cheese, sausage, pickles, olives, peppers, zing zang, Clamato, tomato juice, V8, pickle juice, olive juice, bacon, chips, and more! I was in awe! Aside from that awesomeness, our service and food were good! I had pancakes and I think my stack was 6! Definitely enough to feed two people. I got the fresh fruit with it and it was perfect. My husband had the Pronto Deluxe which was your basic breakfast. Eggs, pancakes, and sausage. He said it was just what he needed! That's all I've got. Nothing bad about our experience! Just have a 4 because the food was good, not over the top good. I was pleased! read more

I was in here recently and the experience, service provided by one of your staff was fantastic. I believe his name was Chad (bald, bearded with glasses). He made the entire experience and my night out wonderful. He was Very professional, attentive, polite, professional, good sense of humor and fun. I appreciate a wonderful experience and will be back to visit soon and look forward to being served hopefully by Chad again. read more

PLEASE READ THIS !!!!!!! Cold food. Old food. Out of drinks. Dirty place. The chicken N sausage gumbo was served cold. The mound of red rice was leftovers from the day before and must have come out of the fridge and straight into the gumbo. The shrimp po boy was also cold. It didn't have much flavor either. At least the bread wasn't stale. The mini paczkis were a joke. They were horribly stale, tasted like two days old. The berry, custard, and chocolate fillings were gelatinous. They were served cold too. They were out of Blue Moon draft which was on their drink menu. The booth had dried up orange splatter on the back so I couldn't lean back. ***** I added pics of some of the sweets that they had at the counter (up close they did not look fresh) and also a pic of the small Sunday Bloody Mary Bar (I saw no one in the place drinking a Bloody Mary, so me thinks this is not the place to order one) read more

What happened to this restaurant?! I've been here many, many times over the years. It always had ridiculously slow service (to the point where we called it "non pronto" as a joke), but we lovingly put up with it because it had good food and was a long-standing tradition in the community. Then, both the service and the food became merely mediocre. We put up with it, still, because it was what it was. Now, there simply is no excusing the fact that it is just bad. It's a shame that we can't look past the occasional shortcomings, anymore. The truth is, I'm done making excuses for this place, despite its longstanding reputation as iconic within the local community. It isn't good! It's time we acknowledge that. The bar might still be busy on Saturday nights - not because it's good, but because there is a distinct lack of acceptable alternatives in the area. That doesn't make it worthwhile and I'm tired of pretending it is good enough. It isn't. It's time for the owners to decide if this place is a nostalgic relic better suited for the stories of yesteryear or a current interest, because the memories of how it used to be are not enough to warrant repeated disappointments. The restaurant is awful and if the dinner crowd of three tables occupied on a Saturday night at 6:30 is any indication, I am not alone in this assessment. The service sucked, the menu is lacking, and the food is barely a nod to its former glory. This place is now just a sad remnant of what it once was and the management seems to be even more over it than the former clientele. The quality is simply unacceptable now and that makes the zombie like service simply unforgivable. This place is now inexcusably bad. I'm done pretending it is okay. It isn't. The bar might still be busy (I didn't bother staying to find out), but the restaurant is dead and it is no mystery as to why. Until they get their tired act together, do yourself a favor and skip it. Let's stop donating our patronage until this place decides to earn it again. read more

Pronto is one of my go-to brunch spots in Royal Oak. I've been quite a few times for brunch and the stuffed French toast is my go-to favorite. The stuffed French toast is topped with strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries, stuffed with cream cheese and drizzled in caramel sauce, yum! It is usually decadent and delightful, but I was a little disappointed in the stuffed french toast the last time I came in. They used a piece of bread that was close to the heel and could have used more cream cheese, and was a little drier than usual and more sparse with the berries. The last time I came to Pronto was before the Saint Practice Day pub crawl for brunch and service was pretty fast even though they were relatively busy. My friend had the eggs Benedict served with breakfast potatoes and another friend had the avocado toast topped with poached eggs which she said was very tasty. Pronto also offers chocolate chip pancakes, a variety of omelettes, huevos rancheros and sandwiches and salads too. They also have a very good build your own Bloody Mary bar. You can order mimosas singly for around $5 a piece or mimosas for your whole table which comes with a bottle of champagne and carafe of orange juice for $15. I also came for dinner once with a large group, around 20 people, for a birthday party. They did a good job of accommodating our large group. It was easy to get a reservation for this large number of people and service was good. I had the Santa Fe taco salad which was good but I was jelly of my friend's Pronto Pasta which looked and smelled incredible. The Pronto Pasta, is a three cheese baked macaroni and cheese with Havarti, sharp cheddar and Monterey Jack served in a skillet and topped with bread crumbs. He added chicken for an upcharge. Another friend ordered the meatloaf which he really liked. Prices are really affordable, with most items being around $9 - $14. Pronto also hosts karaoke on Wednesday nights and often live band karaoke with the Persuasion band. I know I'll be back again soon probably for brunch. Hopefully the stuffed french toast will be on-point, like it used to be. read more

Both patrons and staff in this establishment showed disrespect to my friend. My friend asked if there was a staff to clean a spill that someone else had made. The staff member proceeded to throw the towel at her and say "You do it." When my friend brought this situation to the manager, there was no action done. The staff proceeded to ask her to leave, when the staff had mistreated and yelled at my friend. Both the patrons and staff were screaming in her face and caused her great distress. It is heartbreaking for us to not be respected in what is supposed to be our safe place. read more

Oh so sad to have a poor experience here. I hate writing truly negative reviews, but my experience warranted the truth. In general, their prices are reasonable and you can get a bottle of champagne and unlimited orange juice for only $12. This past weekend however, was a disaster. Ordered a roast turkey sandwich with parmesan fries. Asked for no barbecue sauce, and instead a side of peppercorn ranch. They didn't bring out my ranch until I asked another waitress, and there was barbecue sauce on the sandwich! The "parmesan" fries were dusted with a low quality gritty cheese. The worst part:the waiter charged my card my meal price of $14...AND my entire table's meal of $43. He did not tell me this. I saw the extra charge when I got home. The manager assured me on the phone that he had made a mistake, and said the charge would be dropped in 3-5 days. That happened, but the money was still taken out and they offered nothing for their mistake. Also, the waiter knew he made a mistake and never said anything when he brought my card back. This type of service won't get my business again, which is unfortunate. read more

One of the worst steaks I've ever seen and tasted. The filet is all of 4 bites and every one of them tasted like burnt rubber.

Oh, Pronto! I have spent countless nights and dollars in your bar. I think that Pronto has the nicest, friendliest bartenders in the area and they are what keep me coming back. In addition, I highly recommend karaoke on Wednesday nights as it's probably the best karaoke in the area. However, as others have suggested the name Pronto is misleading as the restaurant service is quite slow. The menu is quite large with a plethora of sandwiches to choose from including several vegetarian options. The sandwiches are served with potato chips but for a price you can upgrade to fries, onion rings, potato salad or orzo. The food tastes good and has many interesting options to choose from. On my last visit, my companions and I sat on the front patio, which was delightful. However, it took about an hour to be served our three vegetarian sandwiches with chips. The server was nice and gave us a big piece of bumpy cake for free because of our wait. The cake was so rich we couldn't finish it. Another Yelper indicated the drinks are somewhat expensive, which is true. However, there are happy hour specials throughout the week and drink specials on weekday nights. The promotions seem to change occasionally, but they are there. I would only recommend Pronto if you have a lot of time to spare or if you want a drink. read more

So, I have been a patron here for many years, intermittently. I was able to visit while I was in town over the holidays... the atmosphere is almost identical to what it was a couple of years ago, though the place didn't get as packed as what I recall. The vibes have changed a bit and it would be nice to see some spunk return to the bar. Different events and/or theme nights. Bring back the OG feel, ya know? I had the sweetest, most adorable bartender that night who tended to my friends and I with a smile. I believe his name was Corbin. He just made our nights and was super attentive. I plan to return in future years to check the joint out...! read more

Located in busy Royal Oak, limited street parking, nearby pay garages. It is a gay bar. Pretty good snack/bar food, the fish tacos are good. The staff is usually good, in particular for different bar crawls they like to play along. Sometimes the bathrooms are messy. Decent drink prices. Okay beer selection. Large video screens for music playing in the evenings. Large patio area out back. read more

Fun and retro! Love this little diner in Royal Oak. Ordered the avocado toast and it was amazing. Toast topped with avocado, smoked salmon and pickled onions. The best. The ambiance is fun and very reflective of the 50's. read more

Their Chicken Margherita was watered down. The bread was soggy and the balsamic was nonexistent. Pattie Smith would be very disappointed in the sandwich holding hostage her namesake - soggy, sad deli turkey with a remnant of something resembling honey mustard. So disappointed. This was supposed to be my birthday lunch and we got take out. The order was wrong when picked up - they missed one of the items and gave us two of another (which had an item on there that shouldn't have been as it was requested off) and then the third item they were missing the main item. Had to call and go back up there to get the proper items and even then as it was being checked things were still missing the proper items. So then the food was cold. Nothing was done to make good or even offer anything after all of this. I had such high hopes with new ownership and then this happens. Not a good start read more

Been coming to pronto for years and have seen it change management a few times. This is the best it has ever been! The music is better, the food is delicious (try the Chicken Alfredo), the events are unmatched, and the staff makes you feel like you're a part of the experience rather than just another patron. I highly recommend checking it out if you're new to the scene or have been in the scene for a while and want to spice things up! There is something for everyone to enjoy! read more

A local legend, this restaurant/bar/event space welcomes everyone! We went the other day and had a blast at their karaoke, but we've had so many amazing memories there over the years. Horrible. We ordered Bottomless mimosas and all the glasses had lipstick stains. The orange juice was diluted and literally tasted like water. Once we received our food it was plated on paper plates. I ordered the avocado toast and the avocados were all brown. My friend got the grilled cheese and it had old brown lettuce pieces. Fries, pancakes and sandwich were cold. When approaching the manager he was not apologetic but he did take a few of the meals off of the bill. This place used to be amazing! Not sure what happened but we will not be back. The food is fantastic, service on 10/10 the staff is supper friendly, and the ambiance gives welcoming vibes and a safe place for everyone.

Newly re-opened (under new ownership by Five15 next door) with a fresh menu and all new kitchen staff. If you ever went to Pronto before this, it should be a big improvement. Recommend: -The Shrimp Po Boy -Mother Clucker (chicken sandwich) -Or any of the baked goods (the sous chef specializes in pastries) Weekends & Tuesdays tend to be the busiest for the bar, especially when the patio is open. *Social distancing + Covid safety measures in place. read more

I have been going to Pronto! Video Bar for the past two years and all I can say is wow. The service and management truly reflects the meaning of going above and beyond. While the interior could use some TLC, and the bathrooms have a unique smell that can only be described as questionable, I would still give this establishment 5 stars! The food is phenomenal and the atmosphere is lively. If you are looking for something fun to do on the weekends or have a few drinks after work in a LGBTQ safe place - this is definitely the place to be! If you happen to find yourself here, ask for Alejandro, he makes the best drinks in town and will be sure to make your experience super Update: the new bartender Nick is the living embodiment of Pronto!s mission statement - to serve causes that are important to their staff and the community. Apparently their cause is making sure twinks are taken care of. Every single time one walks in, Nick is ready to service them with a smile. read more

We came in for dinner recently and the food was fine nothing exceptional, but what made our time OUTSTANDING was our server Riley. He was the only server for the entire restaurant on a busy Friday night but he made us feel as if we were the only people there. Our drinks were never empty, he was incredibly personable and friendly. It is so rare nowadays to see a young person with that type of work ethic. He was really working hard to make sure every table was happy and taken care of, again you don't get this type of service anywhere anymore. He was exceptional and we will be coming back just for him again, management is lucky to have such a good worker on their staff. Thank you Riley!!! read more

This was the first time at this restaurant for me where I was in the mood for something light and I ended up ordering the Mediterranean Chicken Salad. The Pronto Mediterranean salad is a traditional Greek salad with beets, feta cheese, tomatoes, yellow pepper, black olives, onion, fresh lettuce, Grilled chicken all topped with a balsamic vinegar dressing. All ingredients in the salad were definitely fresh with crispy lettuce which is the starting point for a good salad. Unfortunately the tastiness of the salad was a bit pedestrian for my palate and left me wanting a bigger flavor punch. Based on my own personal palate, the salad appeared to be lacking some key herbs/spices to give the flavor punch it so badly needed which would have elevated this salad into the realm of good to very good. Considering how many restaurants in the area make very good Mediterranean style salads I was definitely underwhelmed by this offering. Also, the presentation of the entree, which I put a certain importance on, could use some work as well as it looks like the salad was just kind of thrown together with the dressing dropped in the middle of the bowl. Food aside, the service was both great and friendly and I do like the location of this restaurant right in the heart of downtown Royal Oak. Overall Three stars based primarily on the taste of my entree with honorable mention for fast friendly wait staff. read more

I had always loved Pronto, since the 90's. I was traveling for a few years and had not been to the restaurant side in a few years. I went there with friends yesterday, was really looking forward to it. The inside restaurant had 3-4 customers and one waiter (on Father's Day with a festival going on in Royal Oak). The two drinks we got were terrible and the food was mediocre. I think they need to get back to the original menu concept, quality and service that made this place hopping for many years. This used to be a good restaurant with a bar attached and now it seems like a bar that serves bar food. What a complete disappointment. read more

Pronto was a go to for lunch for years. We hadn't been there for a while and our visit there this past week was so disappointing. Upon entering the restaurant it smelled dirty. Immediate turn off and it left me wondering when the last time there was a deep cleaning. The service was ok and not particularly attentive. The food was disappointing. A favorite for years, the Veggie Rueben, was not good: the avocado was bad, too much sauerkraut, and the bread was low quality. We shared the "house specialty" chicken tenders, and I don't think they were house made, rather they seemed to be frozen. Everything was uninspired. What a shame. read more

Absolutely terrible service!!! Slow! Slow! Slow ! This place has no atmosphere, but we decided to stay anyway, and not judge a book by its cover. The bathroom stall had no lock...real classy Ordered coffee, and the creamer was clumpy. I told the waitress and she just took the cup away. Didn't apologize, didn't offer to bring me anything else. After waiting an hour and 20min. for our simple order of fried eggs and toast, the waitress said " I don't know what's taking so long". She never refilled our water glasses or offered to bring us anything while we were waiting. So after another 15 min., we just left. We will NEVER return to this dump, EVER! MUST TRY!! Or Try again. The food is absolutely DEVINE. The restaurant, bar and club next door are all under new management. I had a small wedding reception there which was perfect. If you are planning a party, speak with Suede who makes the entire delicious experience simple, flexible, and AFFORDABLE without compromising what you want for your guests. He thinks of everything so the planning part is highly efficient, and he does all the work and worrying, so you literally just need to show up and receive compliments on your venue and menu selection. They don't charge for the room which easily saves between $500-$2,000, and you only pay for drinks your party consumes. I frankly have not met managers and owners who are all consistently and genuinely good decent people like this team. Did I mention the very affordable dessert table? We had fresh Pronto prepared cake, cannolis and chocolate covered strawberries. The only time my guests stopped raving about the dinner was after they went to the dessert table, and those compliments lasted the rest of the event. If you have been there in the past, you have got to see what an amazing experience the new management offers. They have updated almost all areas (no more wet, squishy carpet) and the food is much better tasting than many fine dining restaurants in Royal Oak, Troy or Birmingham. If you go, please try their spinach artichoke dip - heavenly. The management is friendly and they have a surprisingly impressive offering at very reasonable pricing. For a place this size, it is amazing how many choices they have for all dietary requirements including my long list of severe food allergies (for which Suede gladly substituted items). They also have something for everyone when it comes to ambiance and entertainment. The restaurant and outside patio are quiet enough for a great family experience despite that they have a 'party all night' bar, patio and dance floor on the other side. For those of you who can tolerate some quite naughty comments, the drag queen shows at Five15 next door are as good as any in Vegas. If purchasing drag tickets, I highly recommend Sabin who is deservedly one of the most popular and hilarious drag queens in the Midwest. I am so impressed that I barely want to pass along this sparkly gem, since it might limit the restaurant's availability going forward. I moved 40 miles away and still go back frequently. If planning an event, reserve early since they fill up quickly. For completeness, I should mention that while better, the bathrooms haven't been brought up to the same level as the restaurant. They are much cleaner and I know this management team won't stop until they reach perfection in every area. Don't forget the spinach artichoke dip!! ... and avocado toast, burgers, steak, sandwiches, Greek salad, quesadillas, etc. read more

I only write reviews when I feel obligated to alert the public of a dissapointing establishment that causes me immense frustration. Ordered takeout here twice, my order has never been right. This place is more of a spectacle or novelty. The food is just so-so. I never leave this place thinking how good or great the food was, just how uncomfortable and slightly dirty I felt after eating here. The restaurant has an interesting array of foods, to be sure. I used to enjoy a chicken sandwich there, but since giving up meat, it's not as great for vegetarians. read more

Worst food I ever had at a Royal Oak establishment. On the summer menu was a Peppered Salmon Salad. Sounds good right? Wrong. The salmon was over cooked and tasted worse than it looked and the other ingredients (goat cheese & almond slivers) seemed haphazardly thrown onto a bed of spinach. The dressing, some sort of creamy balsamic, was alright. The seasoning on the salmon was visible, but not tastable. Even the iced tea tasted old. Yes, I ate it because I was hungry, it was way past lunch time. And I regret eating it...when I got home I got sick. Why go somewhere that makes you sick? Royal Oak, I expect more from you. If you find yourself on the sidewalks of Royal Oak, starved and looking up at this restaurant, get out of there, pronto. read more

3.5/5 stars so I'll round up to 4. I had heard their food was very good, and a friend and I went here today since apparently EVERY DOWNTOWN THAI place is closed this weekend for Memorial Day weekend. I had been craving a burger for a while now so I ordered the basic one, and added sautéed mushrooms. Everything is a la carte and a charge for toppings, which was kind of annoying, even pickle chips, though you do get a pickle with your burger. I also upgraded to sweet potato fries, and both that and the burger were good. They have an outdoor patio area which looked nice, although we dined inside. Their desserts also looked really good though I didn't buy one since I was going for bubble tea later down the street. I'd come back here again but the entrees are a little pricey. My friend got a pretty basic brunch plate that was decently priced though, about $7. read more
