Because once you're in the gate area, there's nothing in there. Not even a Coke machine. Well, there are at least power outlets so that you can top off your phone one last time. Air Canada is the only carrier serving Bagotville with three flights a day to and from Montreal. At the moment, they are using a DH-1 aircraft, a nine-row turboprop with two-by-two seating. It's barely a 90 minute flight, so it's tolerable. Though the vibration seems to have loosened a couple of my fillings. Taxi service here and a couple of rental car outlets. And a small restaurant in the arrivals area. Luggage is a bit slow, since they use the same tractor for departing flights. So they unload the plane onto one cart, load the plane with the next cart and then they bring the luggage to the carousel. Tip: try not to check anything and you'll be one of the first out to the taxi stand or rental car desk. Free wifi = awesome!

I was amazed at the overall personal care I was provided at La Sagueneenne from making sure I had a taxi to take me to the hospital each day. Many hotels I called in the area, would not speak to me. Maybe due to my limited French language ability. And just told me they have no rooms available or wanted a very high amount of money for a room almost to the point of gouging. La Sagueneennee is heads above the rest of the hotels in Saguenay! This was one of the activities we have planned for ouf trip in the region, and we were happy with our choice. We discovered a lot about the region, and visited some great places during our four-stops bus ride. The good: Host was not only very informative about the region and it's history, but she was passionate about it, which made it even more enjoyable. Nice view of chapels, waterfalls, landscape, etc. We even had a taste of local cheese on the tour. Four stops includes road of creches, first habitants, hungover bridge, and landscape point ox view. The bad: Focuses a lot on first habitants and the flood of 1996. Two of the four stops are not recommended for people with limited walking, or wheelchairs (but you can stay on the bus). Ride is VERY bumpy. French only (but understandable). But the bad does not outweigh the good at all. This tour is highly recommended for anyone who wishes to learn about the region.

A grand old hotel that looks like it's heyday was in the 80's-90's. The hotel did not look run down but it did look dated in decor. My room was comfortable and healthy in size. It was two Queen beds and had a separate area for sink and mirror and separate toilet area for doing your business. The layout of the room made me feel like I was at my uncles place who lives in a forgone era. He was a slickster back in the day and I'm sure this hotel was just the same. I took a walk and there is a huge water park for the toddlers a big pool and a few hot tubs. Really a large pool complex that you could spend hours at with the kids. The also seemed to have extended hours compared to the usual pool hours which typically closer early at hotels. Lastly the hotel had a happening looking bar with a few lizards hanging around. Also a wonderful restaurant La Seigneurie which I ate at. I'll review that separately but their specialty is beef! Hotel WIFI was a bit slow at peak periods in the evening but that's par for the course. Hotel room also had a fridge which was a nice pleasant surprise. Overall a comfortable stay and I'm sure the best hotel in the region. A great place to stay at with kids but come with tapered expectations.

The staff was kind, especially one who taught me how to use their coffee machine and then gave it to me on the house! They do have one of the slowest registration experiences that Ive had in a hotel recently. Each afternoon there was a long line of people checking in and unlike most hotels that just take your card and ID, here you have to recite your mailing address and email to them. I also did not like that the 4th floor was presented like a reserved, private floor, but I heard children running up and down the hallway until very late in the evening.
