A Prometric Testing Center certainly isn't the usual sort of establishment that I review, but I did want to say that there were some things about this place that made my testing experience a little stressful. First of all - the email you receive when scheduling to test makes it sound like this place is much harder to find that it actually is. It's under a bright awning next to another learning center type establishment. Still, however, clearer signage would be really helpful. When you walk in, the place definitely seems old and the staff does not seem to want to be there at all. However, the man at the front desk did seem to perk up a little when greeted pleasantly, so it wasn't a bad experience or anything. I had a 12:00 noon testing time and showed up to check in very early, it was only about 11, and he said he could go ahead and check me in to take my test. I was more than happy to get it over with a little sooner. I got my locker key, and the lockers are fun little things that are a lot nicer than the lockers I ever had in high school. I will say, this was where the experience got a little bit less fun. The bathroom is very outdated, and there are signs posted about not trying to flush things down multiple times if they get stuck. Also, the lady in the back who went over my testing paperwork and did the brief search with the metal detector was really snippy and stern, which is a really uncomfortable moment immediately before an important exam. At one point, I dropped the pen, and she let out an audible "ugh" and rolled her eyes at me. The testing room was very, very chilly, but there were headphones available for everyone to avoid distractions, and the lighting was bright but not irritating. I will say, I passed my test and made it out quickly, so no harm done even if there were some bumpy bits in the road of the test-taking experience. read more

Didn't do great on the GRE but testing center was legit. It's in a good safe location with a massage center & great Thai restaurant next door. There's also a kiddo clothing store & huge indoor Jump place in the plaza. The staff was crazy professional. You're allowed ear plugs & that's about it. They even provide Kleenex. Lol. Seriously strict considering the recent bad press for places like this due to celebrity cheating scandals. I kept thinking about sneaky rich people whose kids get these ridiculous breaks. #angry Please keep your standards high! Bathrooms were clean. Noise canceling Head phones worked-well but too tight. Good thing I didn't check reviews before I scheduled a recent proctored exam here, yikes! I'm just beginning the journey down the road to a professional designation. A journey that has 12 testing stops o_0 I have been to a testing center over on San Pedro, just outside 410, that was awful...grimy place, gruff staff, just clearly showing its age worth a crew that had #zerofux to give. Was really happy when I found the one at 410 and Vance Jackson - huge improvement, despite being located in tittie bar central, and I was hoping to schedule the remainder of my tests there (that Prometric, I mean, not the jiggleandslap lol ). I was bummed that nothing was available at that locale for the end of December and reluctantly made an appointment for this center at 281 and Thousand Oaks. It's very close to Northwoods and 1604/281 junction, so traffic in the area, pretty much without fail, *blows*...leave early for your appointment! The neighborhood is definitely nicer than the other 2 locations (wine bar next door, as opposed to craft beer nudie club, if that's a frame if reference :) ) (traffic is, apparently, the only thing in the area that blows lol) Building itself was really clean, bright, not-musty-and-grungy. Standard security measures for a test proctoring center - ID check and v signature comparison. Check pockets/sleeves/pant cuffs for cheat sheets. Get scanned with Metal detector (?? Still not sure exactly what that thing is) wand. Have scratch paper and a couple pencils, and a basic calculator your particular test allows it, provided for you. The staff at this center, however, was exceptionally pleasant and efficient. Awesome! Given distance from me and traffic conditions, I probably won't seek this center as my first choice, but it IS otherwise a great option and definitely won't cause worry if I do end up testing here. read more

What's there to say about this place? They offer computer-based secure online testing for a variety of examinations. Their "security" rules are quite clear, appropriate, and top notch. Staff are friendly. read more

Horrible experience. I took my exam 12/18/2020. I was approved for accommodations based on my medical diagnosis. The accommodations were located next to the staffs check in desk. The staff was so unprofessional I was surprised. For people who are paying around $500 per test to become legally certified you would assume the company would train the employees on rules. The staff was so loud and disruptive that in the middle of my exam I could no longer focus due to hearing their personal stories. I was suppose to have a quiet room as part of my accommodations so much for that. I even used the noise cancellation headphones and could still here the staff. Very unfriendly and unprofessional. For some reason this center was the only option during Covid. I am hoping when I retest it will not be here. I have already filled 2 complaints for this incident and if it is not taken care of soon I will be filling for a refund in a civil court due to obstruction of my accommodations. read more

I was scheduled to take the Praxis exam Friday, January 15 at 8:00am at the Prometric testing center on San Pedro in San Antonio, TX, which I had scheduled back on December 11. I had a confirmation email and everything. However, when I arrived at the testing center I was not on the schedule to take the exam. According to the owner of Prometric, only 2 out of the 3 testing labs were open, but they were still allowing people to sign up for the closed testing lab. Prometric was supposed to contact the people registered for the closed testing lab to reschedule, but that did NOT happen. At the time of registration, there were no options to sign up for a specific testing lab. The only thing on the website was the testing center address, which included a suite number. I called the Praxis contact center and spoke to agent and was told to send an email documenting the situation. The worst part is that multiple people were having to call the customer service number for other tests because they were also not contacted about the testing lab closure. This situation should have never happened if someone at Prometic was doing their job. Through out this crazy process, the owner of the testing center was apologetic and understanding of our frustrations. I have taken multiple tests here and never had an issue like this happen. Moral of the story: call the testing center to confirm your exam/test and time BEFORE you show up! read more

I came to set up a proctor for an exam. Not only was the clerk rude to me, but she "doesn't know how to do it". The manager was not around, and the scheduling proctor is gone for a week. Is this for real? Way to be professional. read more

I've been to so many test centers this is the worst test center i've ever been to!! Every one is so rude and disrespectful even the manager. They didn't let me take my exam because the middle name that i have in the 2 ids that i brought doesn't match the online registration (when i registered online they only asked for first and last) and when i told them that i've been to the same test center before but different location and they didn't do that at all they said the other one doesn't follow the rules but we do !! This is one of the better testing center I have been to. They have 2 different size lockers for your use. Some of the others I've been to have these tiny lockers that barely will hold a wallet. This center is in a shopping plaza in a ground floor so going to the car on break is not a problem. The staff that was working on my test day were friendly and followed the procedures. They made it quick and easy to enter and exit at break time and I never had to wait in any line. read more

I've taken a lot of standardized exams over the last 8 years and this prometric center was my least favorite. The bathroom was filthy with a damaged toilet seat that was all cracked. The testing room was super cold so bring a sweat shirt, and the rooms weren't sound proof so I could hear the people outside the room. read more

Originally, I had scheduled my first CPA exam earlier this week in Austin, but it got canceled the morning of because the location was understaffed, which was incredibly frustrating and stress-inducing. I then was only able to reschedule the exam for the San Antonio location, which required me to stay in a hotel the night before. At this point, I was pretty frustrated at the inconveniences of the testing center, but when I arrived to the San Antonio location, the staff was unbelievably friendly and accommodating and made a stressful day more pleasant. They also told me that they rarely close, so I may continue to take the exams at this location, despite the added travel time. Overall, I was unexpectedly pleased by their good-natured demeanor and encouragement before I entered the testing room. I never write reviews but they really left a positive impression. read more
