They seemed to have a great approach…read moreto physical therapy, offering solutions for mobility and injury prevention in addition to more traditional strengthening protocols. During my first appointment, I did a consultation with Jessica. We spoke about my history with knee pain from skiing, and then moved into an assessment on the table. Without any kind of prep, she initiated muscle scraping on my entire leg, which was one of the most painful things I've had to endure. She said nothing to the effect of "we're about to do some muscle scraping, are you familiar with this?" or "this may be painful" or "it can cause pretty serious bruising and tenderness." She just got the tools and went right in. It was excruciating, and I found the total lack of preparation unprofessional and alarming. I was left with huge bruises up and down my leg for days; this was 2 days before a birthday trip where I'd be in a bathing suit, during which I had a massage I needed to cancel due to the tenderness of the massive bruises. Had I been prompted about the severity of this procedure, I likely would have declined or opted for a less intense massage approach (which was what I had explicitly asked for in my consultation and the beginning part of my assessment with Jessica, as massage therapy has helped me a great deal before). My first visit ended with some ultrasound therapy, which was more pleasant. Despite the intensity of the scraping, I was at least interested in the fact that this PT (the fourth clinic I've been to in 2 years) was performing more manual therapy than the others. I figured that I would give it a shot. At my second visit, we did more muscle scraping, and no ultra sound therapy. I was quickly passed off to another therapist to do some hip strengthening exercises, and halfway through she had to ask me which side my injury was on. She didn't seem super prepared to help me, and then brought me to the front desk to wrap up my appointment with 20 minutes still left in the hour. That appointment cost me $168, as my insurance does not cover PT until after I've hit my deductible, so I was feeling a bit shortchanged. I asked if I could be charged for fewer PT units due to the shorter appointment, and the therapist instead took me back to do some stretching. I had arrived to my second appt with some hip pain, and the therapist showed me a stretch that aggravated that pain. Upon telling her that I was in pain, and not in a tight muscle kind of way, she said "yeah, you'll feel that" and dismissed it. I left that appointment in more pain than when I arrived. I am super disappointed in the care I received here.

She did NOT double and triple book my appointment, limit her time with me or hand me off to other staff. She asked all the right questions, read about my history, and reviewed prior imaging. She focused on me as "the whole patient," and she encouraged me more than once to ask for specific imaging from my reluctant physician. She helped me find my voice and gave me the confidence to advocate for myself. My insistence led to additional imaging and, finally, a diagnostic outcome I had been seeking for over three years. She also provided me with new exercises that helped to lessen the intensity of my chronic pain. In three months, she changed my life forever. I am so grateful! The atmosphere is relaxed even though there is a bustle of activity with patients doing movements and therapists directing. It is run like a symphony. Speaking of music, they have upbeat music with a good, happy rhythm at the perfect volume making it easy to do my exercises and help with the counting of reps/sets. The gym is a comfortable temp. There is a noticeable positive vibe. Everyone who works there are professional, pleasant, friendly, helpful and serve the patient. The atmosphere is clean and crisp. I am able to communicate clearly with my therapist, Paul Ragucci. He does a custom program for my injury and checks in with me at the beginning of my appointment and then decides how he will direct me according to my body during that session. He explains what to do and what muscles we are focusing on so I feel I can help myself as he helps me to heal. I trust his expertise. There is good pacing to the flow of the tasks. I appreciated Paul's positive style with compassion on my intake interview evaluation as I answered questions and told my story. I immediately felt supported as Paul talked about our goals of both the reduction of pain and the gain of mobility as our goal, along with strengthening not only my injured muscles but the muscles around the injured area. I value ATI's expertise with my care. I have formed a level of trust in my therapist. He directs me at the pace my body can handle any given moment adding specific exercises as I increase my strength. It is all about effort without strain under his instruction. Each session is of great benefit. I honor myself and do my homework exercise plan developed by Paul facilitating my part in the recovery. I consider him my teacher/coach to do the moves correctly. With this knowledge I feel confident that my healing is here for me with Paul and the ATI support team. I highly recommend ATI. My personal opinion is formed by years of past experience of receiving therapy and with therapists at other facilities. I was in a head-on crash and also a rear end crash with multiple injuries and years of recovery and repair surgeries. This group of professionals work as a team. With their attention I am healing and getting better. They serve and they care.

Everything went smoothly and my recovery went very well, so when I tore a tendon in my right shoulder playing golf last spring, I returned to his office for treatment. My surgery was originally scheduled for October, but my insurance company denied the claim because there were "no doctor notes attached." The office had 30 days to resubmit the claim, but they did not do so. The surgery was then rescheduled for early March. Before the procedure, my primary care physician ordered my pre-op labs and told me the surgery needed to be completed within 30 days of the lab work. The lab staff confirmed the same information. I called and emailed Dr. Bowman's office to let them know my labs had been completed, but I did not hear back for two weeks. When they finally contacted me, the surgery date they offered was beyond the 30-day timeframe. When I questioned this, the woman I spoke with told me, "Oh, that's okay, we do surgeries up to 90 days after labs are taken." I explained that both my doctor and the lab had told me otherwise, but she insisted they were wrong. After the problems with the insurance authorization, the lack of communication, and the conflicting information regarding pre-op requirements, I decided to seek care elsewhere.

This occurrence spanned over the course of 3 months due to issues with insurance and waiting for the next open enrollment. Dr. Vandana was quick to assess that my shoulder was indeed progressing into a painful frozen shoulder issue due to the small battery of tests she had me do. I could not get any Physical Therapy help during those painful 3 months due to insurance issues so I had to wait until the next open enrollment when I transitioned over to PPO coverage. This all took place a few days before the New Year. Out of the pocket visits to Physical Therapy were expensive ($125-150 per session) and I was not going to pay for that whatsoever so I had to find some alternative temporary remedies to power me through this ordeal. In the meantime, on my visit, Dr. Vandana wrote me a referral letter which was the key missing piece of the puzzle that enabled me to get Physical therapy help on the first week of January. Had I tried to get a referral letter through regular channels and through a regular Physician, I would have waited at least 3 months since I was considered a new patient. I didn't know that an Urgent Care doctor can write you a referral to PT anytime. Nurse Abigail B. did a great job taking my vitals prior to me seeing Dr. Vandana so I have to give her props as well. I was treated with the utmost of respect and my visit was less than 30 min. I'm thankful that we have these Urgent Care centers where we can get immediate help and going through the regular channels I find challenging since I recently found-out that the cause of these issues are due to lack of medical professionals because of shortage of personnel.

As a result, we were charged $175 for each appointment, along with additional lab fees, which quickly added up. The 2 medications prescribed were extremely expensive--around $2,000 total--even though the doctor was aware that we were paying out of pocket. She initially acknowledged this and said she would switch to more affordable options. However, four days later, my mother ran out of her medication, and the updated prescription had still not been sent to the pharmacy. When I followed up, I was informed that the doctor was no longer able to change the medications. I was also unable to speak directly with the doctor, as the front desk would not allow it. Overall, the lack of communication, follow-through, and consideration for cost made this a very frustrating experience. I would not recommend this clinic based on our experience.
