I was apart of their members' exhibition because I'm a member of their art gallery. I have my BS and MS in Art Education. Its only $25 for artist members! They have various artists come in a do art shows. Allen town has a "first Friday art gallery walk" the first Friday of every month. The art galleries in the area are free to look at and often offer light appetizers. Dan and I go every month. This is also a great excuse to check out some local restaurants like the new Italian restaurant Giacobbi's (my new favorite), the Gatur's Ethiopian Cuisine, or Cafe 59 and if you feel like a light snack and/ or coffee go to my other fav Caffeology! Most exhibits have an opening reception where many times you can meet the artist and hear about their process. There are a few different galleries with changing exhibits. One is a very large space which is sometimes used for lectures and presentations. The museum is free. Easy access from the 190 but parking is limited. The volunteers and staff are helpful and knowledgeable. The exhibits are varied in styles. Right now there's one on tattoo artists and one on fairy tales and Greek mythology. I keep going back so I don't miss anything in this ever changing space.

I decided that…read moreafter my meal I was going to go for a walk around the area and see what I could during the remaining daylight. I stumbled upon this alley. I am assuming that they use this area during street festivals or gatherings of sorts. However, I as type that out, it also looked as if it has not been used in a hot minute. There are weeds that line the walkway and some trash could be picked up. Some of the mortar on the walls have fallen off and there are obvious signs of a need for repair. The artwork on the walls are nicely done and show the flair of the area. Vibrant colors that pull you into the alley. I sure do hope that they spruce it up a bit as it could be a big draw to pull tourists further out. It just feels like this area has not fully rebounded from the pandemic.

Everyone loved Boxing Cat, as well as the Greetings from Niagara Falls. I (Heart) NF, and even the Fred Flintstone jailbird in an adjacent building added to the unique character of the alley. It's small, will take you just a few minutes to get pics of them all, but a worthy find!

The only hang up is that everyone who goes makes the same painting, so if you go as a date night, you wind up with two of a kind (obviously a little different). I'm hoping to go again with my mom & sisters. The instructors teach a great class and show you different methods to make your artwork just (ok, almost) like theirs! I bet it'd be a fun time for a low-key bachelorette too!

A friend of a friend was hosting a 2-hour painting class where half of our fee would go toward a…read morebreast cancer support group that her friend is a part of. I couldn't say no to participating since I've seen too many lived ones suffer through breast cancer and treatment. Plus I love being artsy so it was a PERFECT combination of doing good and having fun! There were 12 ladies in the class with all different levels of creativity running through their veins. Our painting was of a vase with flowers in it. I completely took a different (color and style) direction than that of the original painting and was pleased with my results. That's the fun thing about art- do what moves you! The art space itself is decent, comfortable for a group of 12 and I'm sure potentially a few more. But do note that you have to walk up a flight of stairs to get into the painting area. If you're handicapped or unable to walk up stairs, this space is less than ideal. I'm glad I unlocked my art talent once again. It's bee tooooooo long! I'm going to have to hit up an art store for supplies soon so I can make more creations at home. Very inspiring!

The industrial gallery setting is a really unique place to display art of any kind. Most recently, I went for Step Out Buffalo's insta-exhibition. When you walk in the building you immediately know you're in some sort of warehouse. It's raw and dirty, with tools and machines throughout as you walk up the stairs. There's also a huge service elevator you can take. Once you get up to the (4th?) floor where the gallery exists, its clean and open and the space is transformed into the artist's vision of the show. For the Step Out Buffalo exhibition the first room had local Buffalo-themed artist and vendor booths. The second large room had a bar in the corner and all of the photos on beautiful display. I love this space. If I were an artist, I would definitely have an exhibition here. The juxtaposition between the industrial space and the beauty in the art is gives you a unique perspective. This works perfectly with our city and it's history.

This is the second time my husband and I have attended an event together. I have been many times. We brought a charcuterie board, some bubbles and had a great time painting the highland xmas cow. Not…read moreonly do they feature interesting collections, but they also offer residencies for artists, with studios in the basement so it's a great opportunity to meet artists and see art in action! Most recently I attended a special event in the space adjacent to the gallery for an exhibit called "Serving the Solution". I highly recommend checking them out if you enjoy art!
