The good: has everything you could ask for, friendly staff. Important to know: it was really crowded, at least this afternoon around 5:30-6pm. Could have been because it's too cold outside to walk, or it's the new year, or some other activities going on - anyway, it's overwhelming to see so many people congregate at the same time in a small town. They all seem to go here!

All the wood & brick are just lovely. Equipment is well maintained, yoga mats, blankets, bolsters, blocks, etc. are all clean and in good condition. Staff/instructors and persons offering events/classes are always warm & welcoming. That's why we keep coming back! The prices are affordable, too! That makes good health accessible to everyone. We always keep an eye on the calendar the owner posts so we can make note to attend any that interest us. Online/social media presence makes this very convenient since we don't live close by BUT trust me, it's well worth our drive. If you're visiting the area or even live within an hour or so, stop by and check them out. Weekends are usually when the workshops take place and they are well worth it. Btw Southern on Main is just up on the corner & it's a great place to grab a bite or beer afterwards. Peace to you & yours. Namaste.

There was some up and down, but nothing too difficult. Both trails were mostly clearly marked. Near the end of Loop B the markings became less frequent, and at the junction of the two trails it was unclear which way to go. Other than that it was great. There is an interesting small cemetery. The trails cross small brooks in several places, with secure bridge crossings. I might choose to do just one of the loops next time, if I can figure out how to skip one of them. It was a pleasant couple of hours.

The fairway is probably 60-70 feet below you and stretches out towards the tree line. The par 3 2nd comes back a little to your left, and then you see the third hole as it wraps around water just below. Absolutely stunning. It's a tough track and I would say is fun from every set of tees (black, blue, white, gold, and even the red tees). Water comes into play on about a dozen holes. Highlights are the first tee box/first hole (it's a reachable par 5), the third as it wraps around a pond, the second half of the par 5 5th hole, the eighth hole looks like it's on top of the world, the views from the 10th tee box, the thirteenth hole (a brute of a par 5), and some of the best par 4s in Virginia (holes 15, 16, and 18). I stayed in the smaller of the two lodges that overlook the 18th green. We had a suite with a master with a king and another room with two double beds. Lots of space, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a porch. It was also the cleanest room I may have ever stayed in. Some of the nicest views were from the porch that included the storm that rolled through at night and the fog that followed in the morning. There is only one restaurant on property and the food was excellent. Love that the dessert menu was never fixed. I had an ice cream cookie sandwich that was excellent. The people here truly make this place special. Whoever cleaned our room deserves a raise. Bo (the head pro) and Sherrie in the pro shop are maybe the nicest people I have met playing golf, and that is saying something. The wait staff and grounds crew were all extremely nice as well. I know there is a 5-star resort down the road that I visited for a bit, but I would much rather be here every day of the week. (Not saying I wouldn't turn down a free stay and play at the other place.) Needless to say this is now on my list for places to have a relaxing weekend getaway filled with great golf.
