Please if you are here because you're looking for insurance companies do not pick this one. Progressive literally just takes your money and does not do anything for you when you need them. They have such awful customer service support and do anything they can to keep you as a client- including lying to you. I have had them for over five years, loyal client with no records, no tickets, no accidents. Now that I need them to come through on their part- they drop the ball. Please do not feed this greedy company. Run far far away from progressive. I really trusted this company and talked so highly of them until I needed them to protect and they failed. Absolute racket. Recommends a shop for repairs, while giving a 30 day limit on car rental they will cover. When the repairs run over 30 days I argue they should extend coverage as THEY recommended the shop to go to. Their response was "well you chose to go there." I had to cancel my insurance because I had to move and had to quit my job due to unexpected circumstances. The Progressive website said I could email about cancelling. I never received a response. They tried to charge me for the month after, despite me explaining multiple times it was meant to be cancelled the month prior. Customer Service tried to insist you couldn't email to cancel, I had to point out to them on their OWN website where it said that you could (they didn't even know where the Email tab was). In Texas, progressive writes their policy so if you have a legal age driver, even if they don't have a permit or license, you will be charged to have that person excluded on your policy. Progressive charged me a late fee even though my check was sent in and postmarked well in advance. They had the check; it just took them a long time to process it. I then received a lapse in coverage for non-payment email, so I called and was advised to pay with a credit card, which I did. When they charged me a fee, I called to question it and was told the fee couldn't be waived because that is their policy. I have no issue with the person I spoke with other than that she was not personable and it felt like she was reading from a script. I had opted to receive communications via email. I was "sent" an email requesting information about my household because my daughter received her permit. I hadn't gotten the email nor was there a notification on the website. my monthly payment rose $200. I couldn't change the information online. I feel something this important should be sent via email and mail. The overpayment is credited to my account, and I am grateful for that, but would it kill Progressive to allow their customer service workers to be slightly personal? If you're shopping for insurance - keep looking I was in an accident when an 18-wheeler's tire broke off and hit my car on July 8, 2024. I reported the incident through the Progressive app within an hour. It took 5 business days for my claim representative to contact me. The accident happened on Monday at 8:45 am, and I didn't hear back until Friday at 12 pm, only after I sent a follow-up message. We discussed the accident and planned for me to drop my car off with my mechanic on Sunday for the Progressive team to inspect. I was told at most, 2 business days for them to get out to see the car. I had to pay for a rental, which would have been fine for a day or so, but now it's been a week. Despite multiple requests for callbacks, I've received no updates from my claimed rep OR the leaders I was "escalated" to. My mechanic was told someone would visit last Wednesday, but no one has called or come by. I need help. I've tried to follow the proper channels to get my car fixed, but it feels like no one at Progressive cares. Not sure what's going on with Progressive. I had them as my automobile insurance carrier for the past five years. Ive made two previous claims through them and had no issues. Fast forward to yesterday, to my surprise, I was debited $350 for my monthly premium , which is more than double what I usually pay. I immediately reached out to them to notify them of their obvious mistake to which they informed me that since I had another adult living with me, they took it upon themselves to add said person to my policy, without my consent or knowledge. They also went onto advise me that they do not need my permission to add another adult (even though this person carries their own insurance coverage, for which they were fully aware) to my policy, they can do as they see fit and consequently increase my premium. I told them to cancel my policy effective immediately and I went over to AAA. I also reported them to the Department of Insurance. read more

They canceled me because they would not accept my rental lease as proof that I lived in the house where I live. They also made me add my 15-year-old son to our insurance even though he doesn't have his permit or license and has never even been behind the wheel of a car! I'm pretty sure this is illegal, no other company does this. After literally having nightmares and receiving several emails every night in the middle of the night, I was happy they canceled me. I have been with Progressive for over a decade without filing any claims. I got into my first accident, for which I wasn't at fault, and my vehicle was totaled. Unfortunately, the vehicle that hit me had no insurance. Being with Progressive for so long without any claims filed, I was hopeful that they would be there for me during a very stressful time in my life and help me through this incident. However, that is the opposite of what happened. They love you when you keep paying them year after year without claims, but when you need them, good luck! Progressive billed me for my son even though he is not living in my house currently and has his own insurance. After they insisted he needed to be on my policy, I switched him over. Only they retroactively billed me as well. So I ended up getting another 6 month bill one month after paying s full 6 month policy on him - even though he was insured and I have proof of his insurance. Essentially over billed me $400 but they say they are following "underwriters" policy and there is nothing they can do to fix it. Shady policy. Switched from GEICO to Progressive about 6 months ago. Never had an issue with GEICO , the initial rate was a little better with Progressive (Or so i thought!!!!). Switched insurance and after the initial 6 months, my rate was scheduled to go up $120 per month. No accidents, citations or claims. I am a Police officer and when i called to see why the rate increased, Progressive said it was the Snapshot Driver Monitoring (on phone). i explained that the days and times in question were when i was working, and that as a police officer you often drive faster (to respond to calls), brake harder (when making traffic stops) and have to utilize your phone (handsfree to take emergency calls). Progressive did not care and stated there was nothing they could do. Poor customer service and treatment of First responders out there doing their job!!!! read more

Worst company I have ever dealt with.. they kept upping my price monthly, it took over a month to cancel in which they still charged me TWICE even though I provided all documents for proof of insurance with another company. My payment went from $310 to $425 in the matter of a month which is not the policy payment I agreed upon. PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE RIPS OFF ELDERLY DISABLED Progressive Insurance is a fraud. I'm elderly disabled woman on a fixed income and was ripped off by progressive. I purchase auto insurance through progressive insurance. I've been with them for over 5 yrs. Until recently I just had auto pay For my account. I realized that they took out a double payment this month. When I checked into things further I realized that it wasn't the first time. I've called and they promised to resolve the situation, however they say that they can only refund for the current month due to timing. I have 3 months to file a claim. They also will sell your information to other companies in order to get you to buy other things to compliment your insurance policy. I never gave my permission to do this. I guess it's common practice for this insurance company to do. I requested a refund since I need the money to buy groceries, however they didn't seem to care. They process refunds in the order they're received. It could take up to 6 - 8 week's to process. I'm so disgusted and upset with their business policy's practice. Beware of Progressive!!!! I have had several policies with Progressive (vehicles, trailers, ATVs) for well over 20 years and haven't had an issue with them until now. I always disclose the members of my household as required. This year, Progressive decided they did not believe me. Progressive decided that several people lived in my 1-bdrm home with me and unilaterally added them as drivers on my policy. I have no idea who these people are or why they were associated with my address. In adding these strangers, Progressive divulged personal information about them to me as well, including their full names, dates of their last several claims, years of birth, driver's license states, last 4 of their licenses, number of years licensed, marital statuses. These strangers have different last names from each other and from myself. They also have drivers licenses in three different states--none of which are my state. In doing a quick internet (public records) search by myself, I was able to find a true address for at least one of them. Progressive should be required to do more in-depth research and not put the onus on me to tell them someone does not live with me. Progressive did not call to ask me about these strangers. Progressive's only call was to push for bill payment after they increased my premium--but since I knew I had paid my policy in full, I dismissed the call as a scam. Progressive should not rely on emails--these are often phishing tactics and dismissed as well. To add insult to injury, when I called Progressive, I was met with pedantic script reiteration and zero attention to customer service--there was not a smile in that voice from the word "hello". I told them I did not know the added drivers and yet they repeatedly asked "How do you know ___?" So I will be moving all of my policies to another provider now and because both my husband and I were treated so poorly on the phone, we will share our experience with as many people as possible so they can avoid feeling bad too. read more

I was involved in an accident with a Progressive holder but even though this accident (and the inconveniences that follow) is an unpleasant event, the Progressive customer service was accommodating and helpful. Because the Progressive holder was at fault, they took my truck in two days after the accident to get it fixed and provided a rental car as protocol. When you get to the building, think of an upscale Liberty tax, where they offer you a complementary beverage and get you squared away within 10 minutes. read more

If I could give them a zero, I would. Worst experience I've ever had with a so-called "professional." He spoke over me, and called me "repetitive," as I tried to explain. Here's the situation: HIS client was at fault--he pulled out in front of me from a neighborhood. I was driving 30 mph going straight in a BRIGHT orange car. The airbags deployed, fluid leaked, my arms were cut up from the airbags, and my head hit the seat. My car was towed. I had to WALK home because, as it turns out, there is a shortage of Uber/Lyft drivers, as well as rental cars. It was a Friday. I couldn't get a rental car until the following Monday, at which point I immediately went to the tow-yard, and signed the release form so they could take it to the body shop for repairs. On Tuesday, June 29th, the tow truck tried to deliver my car to the body shop, but the insurance companies (both mine and the other driver's) REFUSED TO ACCEPT FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, so the body shop company had to refuse the vehicle. UNBEKNOWNST TO ME, the car was returned to the tow yard, where it sat until I found out the following FRIDAY. I received letters from both insurance companies saying they refused to pay the tow storage after the 29th--although the tow truck driver attempted to deliver the car ON THE 29TH. That's around $500 they're expecting ME to pay, for an accident that was 100% not my fault--with FULL coverage. This is on both insurance companies, State Farm and Progressive, but it is GEORGE, the agent from Progressive, who was so unbelievably rude, literally talking over me, and when I asked for him to let me finish my sentence, CONTINUED to speak over me, until I yelled, and he said I should "stop being so repetitive." Seriously? What a human. Any company who is okay having their agents treat ANYONE in that manner is a company I will definitely not be supporting. Even though I am still VERY upset with State Farm over their own refusal to accept responsibility, at least their agents were polite and professional. If I could give zero stars I would! What a terrible company! I was involved in a hit and run where there client ran into my vehicle and fled the scene. I gave my recorded statement to their adjuster and stated what happened he said it was a case of he said versus she said and that I was liable. I didn't agree with this because I was the victim and the police report indicated this. The agent promised to investigate and keep me posted the next day I spoke to my insurance (USAA) and they said that progressive found me liable. No investigation was conducted the agent just right out lied to me and filed the claim as he sought fit. When we were asking to have the tail light fixed the company told us we had totaled the car and that we would have to give up the title and they would pay us $1697. It was not her fault. Yet she felt she was penalized because the adjuster claimed that there was more damage to the vehicle then there really was. They are cheap for a reason. Please use another insurance company. My dad in the Auto business says progressive is the worst out of all insurances to deal with. I didn't believe him so I insured my trailer through them. Sure enough. They didn't cover my trailer due a direct impact to the rain gutter. They said the damage was caused by a bad seal on the gutter not the gutter damage itself. No kidding! There is a bad deal because the dang gutter was hit by a foreign object.
