My experience with Progressive Auto Parts in San Antonio, Texas, was the worst I have ever had with an auto parts business.
I drove from Iowa to San Antonio--a 17-hour trip--to purchase an engine they had available. When the engine was loaded, I later discovered that it was the wrong one. I called the shop, and they apologized and told me to bring it back for an exchange. However, they also said it was my fault for not checking the engine before leaving.
I made the long trip back to San Antonio for a second time to pick up another engine. After bringing it home, I installed it in an ambulance. The installation took about 40 hours. When we started the engine, we found metal shavings in the oil, and the engine would not run.
I contacted Progressive Auto Parts and explained what had happened. I was told the engine was covered by a warranty and that I would need to bring it back for an exchange. I loaded it up for a third trip and was preparing for another 34-hour drive for the third time. Before leaving, I called to let them know I was on my way and to make sure they had a working engine ready. That was when I was told my warranty was no longer valid.
After making multiple long trips, spending hours installing an engine that did not work, and being told conflicting things about the warranty, I was extremely disappointed with the way the situation was handled. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Progressive Auto Parts in San Antonio, Texas. Recommend staying away. read more
