Dr. Andrew Brief, now affiliated with Orthopedic Group LLC in Ridgewood, performed a second surgery on my ankle. Weeks after the surgery, my foot was numb all the way to my calf and knee. Multiple calls to his office, he is never available to respond. I would leave a voicemail message to his nurse, who would call me back, not having an answer, will call me after conferring with the doctor. Several months after the surgery, numbness did not go away. Dr. Brief dismissed me by saying he did not know what happened and this had never happened to him. He dismissed me and referred me to a pain management doctor. Several tests later, it was discovered that Dr. Brief caused nerve damage to my foot, hence the numbness. The nerve damage is permanent and I will suffer for the rest of my life.The swelling and the pain were also unbearable, which he could not explain. I visited multiple surgeons and had surgery number three, to repair the torn tendon in my ankle. My surgeon could not believe the sloppy surgery that was performed and the size of the scar tissue that was never removed from surgery number one. Dr. Brief is not only an arrogant individual, he is the worse surgeon. He treated me as if I was a burden after the surgery. He could not be bothered by me or my pain. He was unable to provide me with answers, and now I know why. He messed up and refused to take responsibility to his own actions. If you are ever referred to him, run the other direction.

What made the situation even more frustrating was being told repeatedly that I was "next" to be seen, only to watch other patients who arrived after me and had later appointment times get called back first. When I asked about it, the explanations I received from the staff were inconsistent and didn't match what I had personally observed. Rather than acknowledging the excessive wait time and poor communication, I felt like I was being given excuses. The doctor's explanation only added to my frustration and did not address the actual issue. In fact, he took an incredibly rude attitude toward me when I inquired politely about it. I understand that medical offices can run behind, but waiting over two hours more than once is unacceptable. After speaking with others in the waiting room, it was clear that I was not the only one with this experience. Patients deserve honest communication and respect for their time. His holistic approach I great. He would not force you to do now than you can handle and when it came time for stretches he did not force my body but actually worked with it and respected the limitations. Not only David but the whole staff is extremely friendly. Kim is an amazing person who genuinely cares and will help you with whatever you need and do her best to work with your schedule. The first was that there's no way it could be real because she would never charge that much for a single consultation. The second was that the bill was not from her and created by the insurance company and the third was that she had "been working with United for 30 years and they never pay her enough." That was the last straw for me as I knew she had not only done this before to other clients but would continue to do so again and again. In the end she decided to settle with me for an additional $60 which I neglectfully agreed to out of the kind nice of my own heart rather than report her to the Attorney General as she well deserves.
