Dr. Andrew Brief, now affiliated with Orthopedic Group LLC in Ridgewood, performed a second surgery on my ankle. Weeks after the surgery, my foot was numb all the way to my calf and knee. Multiple calls to his office, he is never available to respond. I would leave a voicemail message to his nurse, who would call me back, not having an answer, will call me after conferring with the doctor. Several months after the surgery, numbness did not go away. Dr. Brief dismissed me by saying he did not know what happened and this had never happened to him. He dismissed me and referred me to a pain management doctor. Several tests later, it was discovered that Dr. Brief caused nerve damage to my foot, hence the numbness. The nerve damage is permanent and I will suffer for the rest of my life.The swelling and the pain were also unbearable, which he could not explain. I visited multiple surgeons and had surgery number three, to repair the torn tendon in my ankle. My surgeon could not believe the sloppy surgery that was performed and the size of the scar tissue that was never removed from surgery number one. Dr. Brief is not only an arrogant individual, he is the worse surgeon. He treated me as if I was a burden after the surgery. He could not be bothered by me or my pain. He was unable to provide me with answers, and now I know why. He messed up and refused to take responsibility to his own actions. If you are ever referred to him, run the other direction.

What made the situation even more frustrating was being told repeatedly that I was "next" to be seen, only to watch other patients who arrived after me and had later appointment times get called back first. When I asked about it, the explanations I received from the staff were inconsistent and didn't match what I had personally observed. Rather than acknowledging the excessive wait time and poor communication, I felt like I was being given excuses. The doctor's explanation only added to my frustration and did not address the actual issue. In fact, he took an incredibly rude attitude toward me when I inquired politely about it. I understand that medical offices can run behind, but waiting over two hours more than once is unacceptable. I had David as my physical therapist and he was the best…read more He had a lot of knowledge about how the body works and the best way to work the body so it can heal as fast as possible. His holistic approach I great. He would not force you to do now than you can handle and when it came time for stretches he did not force my body but actually worked with it and respected the limitations. Not only David but the whole staff is extremely friendly. Kim is an amazing person who genuinely cares and will help you with whatever you need and do her best to work with your schedule. I recommend anyone who needs PT to go to this location you will not want physical therapy to end. I would go back there if I ever need to.

When I first came in for the free consultation, Lawrence listened to my problems and helped set my goals accordingly. He explained exactly what I needed done and how we would do it. His entire staff are all very knowledgeable and educated about anatomy, exercise, pain and treatment. During my sessions, I am one on one with my physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. If they happen to be doing two people at the same time, the other physical therapist or assistants will watch and make sure I'm doing my exercises correctly. The atmosphere is not only helpful and productive but also fun. I honestly look forward to coming here and just casually chatting with Lawrence, Moise and other patients. They forgot to conduct tests and lab exams and when I pointed it out they made me come again and ordered another lab exam. First they said that it was their error and I would not have to pay anything extra but when I had two lab bills they ignored me and refused to reimburse me. The second warning sign should've been that the front entry to the building was in disrepair and I fell and injured my knee. The final straw SHOULD'VE been when a process server was attempting to serve the doctor while I sat in an empty waiting room -- but I was desperate. I went to Anna Lavotshkin's offices for a simple ailment in November of 2014. All I needed was a quick antibiotic and to be sent on my way. My GP couldn't accommodate me in a pinch so I got stuck going here. Right off the bat, Anna Lavotshkin was pushing to give me a physical. Ummmm no. I told her I had a GP and had had a recent physical, but he couldn't accommodate me. Luckily, after an uncomfortable conversation I was ready to get out of there. The worst of this was related to billing. I did not receive a bill for her services until MONTHS after the fact. (7 or 8 months, for the record) They do not accept cards at all, so I cut a check for the balance IN FULL through my bank account online and had it mailed to their offices. The check was cashed by her immediately. A few weeks later, I received a bill in the mail again. I called the office and they had no record of the check - they asked me to provide a copy of it. So while my statement is showing that the check cleared, I now have to pay a $10 to send them a copy of the cashed check. What a joke.
