What can I say. Had gotten my haircut done couple of times and I liked it. This time I asked for a trim. My hair was flowy and long. Just wanted a trim and small amount of layering and curtain bangs. Also I had a blonde long peekaboo strand. My hair gets styled looks good. Once I get home I notice the front of my hair is cut above my shoulders. Half of my hair is mid length and the other half is long. My peekaboo was half of what it was.My hair isn't flowy anymore. Now it looks weird. It took me months to get it to look like that. Disappointing and irritating:( it's not what I asked for. Can't even wear a hair clip. Half of my hair falls down. read more

I'm gonna do something out of the ordinary and review this business as a former employee. I no longer work for Prodigy so you should know that I have nothing to gain from giving them a 5 star rating. Prodigy is hands down one of the most incredible companies I have ever worked for in my life. Not only do they treat their employees with respect and kindness, their pay scale is one of the most generous business plans I have ever come across in any salon I have ever worked for. Prodigy is owned and operated by the same guy who owns the Paul Mitchell School in Colorado Springs, so he pretty much scouts the best talent going through those doors and funnels them right into this salon. With that said, the salon focuses highly on continued education for all of their employees, which helps guarantee consistency in quality of service with any of their stylists you choose to see. It is a tightly run ship that helped discipline me into the experienced stylist I am today. I am truly honored to have been apart of this team. And I say team because it really is a TEAM of people that create this well-oiled machine. We all worked with each other, helped each other out, and I trusted every single person that I worked with. Drama was completely absent from this work place (which is rare to say in this industry). I never saw anything that upset the work flow of the staff internally. We all treated each other with respect. This trickles down the the experience of the guests. Many people have read or heard about the memberships which they offer here. Guests pay $100/month for UNLIMITED services (I believe they may be going up to $150 in 2021). There is no catch. You could literally book an appointment every single day for any of the services they provide and it would all be covered by one flat monthly payment. It works just like a gym membership. Many clients don't even shampoo their own hair any more. What's the point when you have a bevy of highly trained professionals at your finger tips? Members also get 10% off of all products and are getting an entire team of beauty experts as opposed to just one stylist. The membership covers the cost of haircuts, hair color, highlights, toners, deep conditioning treatments, scalp treatments, facials, facial waxing, makeup applications, updos, and pretty much any other service they provide (except for Oleplex and extensions, which members still get 10% of these two services if they choose to use them). So with that said, people always wonder how we got paid if they were sitting there getting $400+ worth of services in one visit for only $100/month, come back the next day, and get a facial only to have it all be covered by the same cost. The business plan is completely transparent but basically, the fees from the memberships collected are all split between the stylists depending on how much work they've done. Each service is worth a certain amount of points. At the end of the pay period, the amount of points becomes a percentage of the collective membership money. In the most simple terms: every time someone signs up for a membership, every person's paycheck goes up. Every time you come into the salon to get a service done, that stylist's paycheck goes up. That's why when people say, "I'd be in here every day!" no one complains. Do it. Come in everyday if you can get an appointment. They are getting compensated for all of it. Just don't forget to tip; tips are not included in the price of memberships. They also fly all of the staff to California every year for a retreat, where they rent a gigantic house right on the beach for a week and pamper the employees with meals, massages, and advanced education. 15 Dec 22 - have been looking for a beauty salon in Briargate for a long time and found some that when I called their phone number was out of service. Finally called Prodigy Salon yesterday morning and not only did they answer their phone but informed me that they had several appointments open in the afternoon starting at 4:00 pm. What I did not like was leaving my credit card number for them to charge me if I missed my appointment without notifying them. I had a pedicure/manicure appointment at 1:30 pm so I chose the 4:00 pm appointment with Kat. When I left my nail salon it was snowing pretty hard and I was afraid I was going to be late for my appointment and the traffic was awful during the snow storm on Powers but I made it to the appointment on time. Kat was by the register when I got there and right away after talking to her for a little while she washed my hair and asked me how short I wanted my hair I loved her personality. She asked me if I had a picture of myself with short hair and I found one among my pictures and showed it to her. Turns out she is from Riverside CA and we were stationed at March AFB, CA and had owned a house at Moreno Valley, CA which is in Riverside CA. She did a great job cutting and styling my hair so I will continue to use her in the future and highly recommend this salon and Kat who is a great beautician! I really hate to do this because everyone was so nice but unfortunately I did not get the outcome I wanted ...and I would of loved to see more reviews when I came to this place. Anyways About two weeks ago I made an appointment for a consultation because I have always ALWAYS had the worst hair disasters from salons but it had been awhile so I trusted this place. Made a consultation to assure that the stylist could achieve the look I wanted and I even told the stylist "if you cannot do this then please be honest". She was honest about not being able to do a balayage blonde on my hair because it's too dark. So we looked at other options and agreed on a full all over natural red color. When I went in for my appointment I noticed the stylist was only putting bleach on sections of my hair, but I figured it was part of the process. I showed her the picture I wanted again and she said "okay great we can achieve this". When they washed out my hair I realized I had blonde highlights..I was still so confused because never once did I mention I wanted highlights...but again I thought hmm maybe she will bleach it again and cover the rest. I was wrong, she put the color on my head and rinsed it out. When she blow dried my hair I realized I had bright red highlights...not anything like the picture. I'm so very confused as to why she thought I wanted highlights.. I should this girl this picture of my expectations so many times. If this was part of the process it was never explained to me..I was so embarrassed by the way it turned out that I sadly ended up paying $300 just to go to Walgreens and get box dye in order to fix the bright red color...I was really hoping for a better outcome and it sucks that wasn't the case. I wouldn't recommend this place for color. * Also the fact that the owner feels the need to back up her stylists with "all of them are educated monthly and she trusts them" shows that you should run because as a business owner the customer is always right!! I'm sorry I wasn't angry but her comment annoys me! Trying to act like I'm to blame? I'm sorry but the business owners need a new approach. I'm not going to say names because again everyone was nice but obviously you can't defend your employees when there is proof that customers are not getting what they want! FOLLOW UP REVIEW: Almost one year has passed since Prodigy Salon managed to CHEMICALLY DAMAGE my hair! And just to add- I've been having to cut it shorter and shorter every 3 months since the damage occurred because it KEEPS BREAKING OFF. My hair was down to my lower back, and now it's at my shoulders. It has taken months to undo what was done to my hair. I truly hope Prodigy has started to re-evaluate their stylists and their customer service. I'm still upset over the damage I've had to endure. I've had to go through a complete color correction, and finding out that they put PITCH BLACK hair color in my hair (I'm BRUNETTE) and every time I get my hair colored to get it BACK to what I had it at, the color bands where they put the black in to attempt to piss-poorly cover up the horrifying "balayage" they attempted to give me. I guess in short, I'm still pissed off about my experience here, 9 months later. And I hope no one ever has to go through what I did. The owner is onsite and very involved in training & mentoring her amazing staff and it shows. They have a membership program that can't be beat! This is a great salon and I freaking love Renato! He always listens intently to my preferences and explains what makes a certain haircut look a certain way. He also knows how to give gentle input to make sure I don't walk out with a dated hairstyle! I am the type of girl who only gets my hair cut like once every 3-6 months, and so he makes sure it fits my lifestyle and looks good straight or curly (as I don't usually spend a lot of time styling). I had my hair done last week and it wasn't exactly what I asked for so I was booked for a re-do with another stylist and when I got to the appointment this morning I was told that they were letting me go due to my treatment of the previous stylist Lindsay. I am really confused as I did not treat Lindsay poorly. I asked for something and it was not what I asked for. I was upset but not confrontational in-fact I apologized for my tears and said it's not you...so to show up for an appointment with Tiffany and not be in the system is very unprofessional IMO. I asked for my money back as now I will have to pay for my hair to be fixed and was told simply No. I had my hair done and it looks fine...since when is a salon going to tell a customer that their hair is fine and they are not going to try and get my hair to be what I asked for? It's fine? Well yes it could have been worse Tiffany. I have a cosmetology license and I have done hair and had to re-do hair. I would never treat my stylist badly because I know how it feels. I don't know if Tiffany has a bad attitude or if Lindsay was untruthful but I was treated badly in this situation and it's pretty sad because stylists are in the service industry and it's a hard business and referrals are gold. I would recommend you find a salon that has respect for their stylists and clients alike. I mean what a great place for a stylist to work when clients get fired and you never have to see them again unless they are 100% satisfied with their hair. I did not mistreat Lindsay and if she thinks I did then she is going to have a real wake up call one of these days. People are mean but I was not mean... I just didn't get what I asked for and was honest that I wasn't happy and wanted a little re-do to get it closer to what I wanted. This happens daily to stylists around the world. Let me just start by saying the stylist I had was very sweet & I really liked her as a person... but my hair took a hit for sure. I asked for my hair to be cut to the length of where my underarm is, which obviously didn't happen, but it's hair it'll grow back I can deal with that. The unevenness though is so bad. Yes it's a lob and there's going to be an angle but surely it's supposed to blend better than this? I knew it was off and I had her cut the front more because it was too much of an angle but I couldn't see the back good. I asked for a mirror and it was so distorted you couldn't see good & plus my hair was curled (which I said was fine to do) but I couldn't see how uneven it was until I got home and straightened it and had a good mirror. ***UPDATE: Spoke with the manager who did offer to have me come back in to correct it but I won't be taking that risk seeing as I don't have much length to work with as it is. I normally go to fox and Jane but decided to take a risk and branch out since I needed a cut ASAP and they were booked a few months out. I already have an appointment made with them to fix it. I moved from the San Francisco bay area to Colorado Springs and hoped I would find a salon comparable to SF standards; well this place is definitely NOT it. I showed my stylist a photo of the hair I wanted - ashy blonde balayage. I walked out with brassy, copper, orange hair - top half black bottom half orange. Since I had this mess done, I've been keeping my hair up or wearing a hat, until I can get in to see my original stylist at Fox and Jane - they know what they are doing there. Update: I have never had this problem with other salons in the past, whether my hair has been box dyed previously, natural, etc. Previous stylists have lightened my hair and I'v had multiple sessions to achieve my hair goal but I've never left a salon with embarassing orange, brassy, coppery hair. I basically paid 120.00 to dye my hair back to its original color only two days after getting it "colored" at this salon. read more

I moved to the Springs this summer and went to a couple different salons trying to find a good fit. This place is real close to my house, which is a win. Though, I'm the type of person to drive as far as I need to for a good stylist. I regularly see Haley for everything. I'm a bit of a PITA client because I go in never knowing what I want done. As long as I look good, I'm happy. Haley is fantastic with just picking colors and making me look great. I also see her and Renato for scalp treatments, deep conditioners and facials every couple weeks thanks to the membership. Renato is also amazing. You can't go wrong here. read more

Had a consultation with the team leader a month prior to my appointment. My hair was supposed to be brown all over with navy blue highlights. My hair came out pitch black and you can't see the highlights. After I got home I called the salon and spoke with the team leader, she offered for me to come back in for a clarifying shampoo or that they would provide me with a clarifying shampoo. I explained to her that I don't live close, plus I had to be back at work. No discount, explanation or apology offered. For $185 and almost 3 hour's later I should have been happy with my experience. I won't be returning or recommending this place. I did email the salon and asked for a refund which they refused, asked to speak with owner/manager which they also refused. I've been a member of Prodigy for a little less than a year. I've seen at least five different stylists, and Lindsey and Lauren are by far my favorites! Excellent stylists, colorists, and I always get a great cut. I've done it all: root touch ups, balayages, full facial wax, toner, shampoo/blow dry. Never once have I had a bad experience. Today I went in for a root touch up and Lauren did a fantastic job! She covered every single grey hair, and I've always noticed, in the seven years of doing root touch ups, at least a few missed greys. Not Lauren! She's so meticulous and thorough! I asked for highlights and where my hair had grown out. I had blonde already on most of my hair. They turned my whole head brown. EVERYTHING. Completely botched my hair right before a big event. Then on top of everything, after I balled my eyes out they made me pay for the entire thing, when they reached out asking if I was comfortable coming back in to have it fixed, I said no. I absolutely hate when I write a negative review, but I am still upset with my first hair appointment experience. First I was greeted by the lovely receptionist who gave me a glass of water. I was impressed by their interior and environment. I had high hopes going here especially since it was my first haircut in Colorado. So my stylist was Brandi. I was on time to the appointment, but I had to wait maybe a couple of minutes for her. She finally came to greet me and I was impressed by her knowledge of hair product and hair care. She took me to the "Wash Room" which seemed like a relaxing place to wash your hair. She gave me a nice scalp massage which felt nice and relaxing. I love when hair stylists do that for me. There was a girl who seemed new there and Brandi demonstrated how to wrapped a towel around a person's head. I thought, "that's nice they try to teach their new employees how to do the job right." Afterwards, Brandi showed me to my chair, but then apologized to me that she had "overbooked" her appointments and had to leave me to another hair stylist. I thought that was strange, especially when another hair stylist invited that same new girl to blow dry my hair as well. So I had two people blow dry my hair. The experienced hair stylist really gave it her all and curled the left side of my head while the other new girl lightly blow dried some of my hair. I could tell she didn't really have confidence dealing with hair. As a result, half of my left side of my head was curled and the other side was not.. Finally, Brandi was done with her client, and came by. It was weird to have three people hover over me doing my hair. She also cut the ends of my hair with a technique I wasn't familiar with. I thought, "alright this could be nice." I also asked her to texture and trim my bangs. I was really disappointed with everything. You can tell my hair was just choppy. My bangs and the rest of my hair did not blend well. It looks uneven; left side looks heavier than my right, and looks heavy on the bottom. I hate to critique, but it has to be done. She might have a lot of knowledge about hair, but her execution was poor. I also didn't feel that client and hair dresser connection. We barely spoke to each other and she was too distracted by her other co-workers conversations. She was so distracted, she forgot my eyebrow wax appointment which was right afterwards. I was directed to the Wash Room again and my eyebrow wax experience felt so rushed. I also asked her advice about hair shampoos and conditioners early on, but the lady who blow dried my hair while Brandi was away answered my questions than her. Brandi didn't even stay to see if I had any questions after my appointment. Overall, I had such a disappointing experience. I am sure the business has great hair stylists, but this particular one was not impressive. I think she might need to take classes or go back to school.. I am looking for a hair dresser who cares to listen, is talented, and connects with his or her clients. Now I have to wait until my hair grows out to find another hair dresser. I had Brandi for my partial highlights and haircut appointment. I've been getting partial highlights for over 5 years, and they always stop at the top of my ear (about the top half of my head is highlighted). Brandi stopped at the top fourth of my head, if even. I asked her to go lower so she just did the very front to the top of my ear and left the rest. I don't know what toner she used, but it made my blonde highlights have a tinge of orange, which is weird since I'm a natural blonde. I told her where I want my face frame to start, and she combed hair from the back of my head to my face and then cut it at that level, resulting in layers that were way shorter than I wanted. She also overcharged me by $25 for something called Prime Shine or something like that (which I didn't ask for). Don't think I'll be returning to Prodigy again :( read more

The main reason the salon sucks is the incompetent manager--Jessa You did not provide any customer service and I know that you all are not putting 6 feet between people when they go into that tiny hole of a"wash house" that you have. I don't want to be mean, I am an honest reviewer, here goes. I have given Kat two chances with my hair. The first time I went in, I was pampered, but, as a new client, you kinda expect that. I told her I was a stylist of 10+ years. Maybe this made her nervous. I also told her I had an undercut that I was trying to grow out, and that I always wore my hair curly. I ALSO told her that I did NOT like the triangle shape that I had going on.. Props to her for cutting my length to meet the undercut. She cut some layering that intensified the triangle, and blew it out straight but did NOT finish it properly and the style lasted all of about half an hour. Next haircut. I asked for more layering and no triangle shape. She cut about an inch more off of the layers and the bottom and I still looked like a triangle head. Again, she blew it out straight, (I only wear it straight for kinky bedroom fun... literally that's IT) and this time she left the bottom very damp, so it ACTUALLY FROZE when I left. WHY. This nice woman needs to take styling classes and also needs to be honest when she is dealing with curly hair. "I don't have much experience with curly hair." Or, "I'm nervous." Or, "Brenda has better experience with curls than me." I am now going to Beauty Bar on Powers and am completely satisfied with my stylist. They take classes every month, pamper you every time, serve you wine and don't pretend they know what they are doing when they don't. Drop the mic. read more

I just went here for the first time last week, and I loved my experience. My stylist's name is Tiffany and she was great - she was super friendly and really easy to talk to! She took her time and made sure I was happy with everything as we were going along. She gave me some good suggestions on how to keep my hair from being a dry frizzy static-y mess out here (I moved from North Carolina where there is a constant like 90% humidity rating).. she was just awesome. And my haircut turned out awesome. The rest of the staff seemed super great and again, really friendly and not at all pompous (which unfortunately I've had far too many experiences of that) so it is so nice and refreshing to know that you can be a first time guest here and immediately just feel comfortable. They seem to book up fast (??) so definitely make your appointment a few days in advance. read more

Ok SO this place is very clean and professional. Beautifully decorated and the lady at front desk was very sweet. But my hair dresser didn't seem like he wanted to be there. He didn't talk me through anything and I was getting a big chop. He spoke like 3 words to me! Just kind of awkward. And I had to ask him twice to check to make sure my hair was even. Prodigy values itself and its policies over the health and well being of their customers. After requesting a refund for a bad highlighting job, they only offered me to have the same stylist (who I can tell didn't have very good technique or I'd have been happy in the first place) fix it herself within a few days, and that was the absolute only option. I get how that could make sense normally, although still frustrating, but on THE SAME DAY the governor shut down all bars and restaurants in the state because of Covid-19, they were still adamant that their company policy trumped my fear of being touched by a stylist at this sensitive time, and would not allow me to come back for a touch-up at a later date. Didn't offer a coupon for another time...nothing. They absolutely threw me away and took my money in the process, while leaving me with chunky highlights when I said the word 'blended' about 45 times during my appointment, with photos of exactly what I wanted and didn't want. Every conversation with them in dealing with this was brought with arrogant and fake tones, no concern for my disappointment over my botched hair job whatsoever, inability to admit fault, and completely dismissive of my actual rational fear of being in a salon and having my head/face touched when everyone is supposed to be limiting human contact. To be clear, I wasn't happy that their only option was to see the same stylist for a fix, but I was considering it until I got so concerned about the pandemic that I had to call and ask what they'd be willing to do instead. They continued gaslighting me and saying that I wasn't willing to come in, and that's not accurate. In my attempts to contact them regarding this matter since all salons have now been temporarily shut down, Prodigy removed my comments on their Facebook photo that boasts caring about the health of their customers (in polite terms, I wrote that this was absolutely false and I wasn't taken care of at all, and that my feelings were dismissed) and blocked me from leaving a review or messaging them further. It is illegal to ban honest reviews, thanks to the FTC. So now this is an actual legal problem. This is the worst salon experience I've ever had. Hands down. Bad hair results happen sometimes, that's normal, but the way this situation was handled is a whole different level of abhorrent unprofessionalism and disregard for anyone but themselves and their policies. First time going and I was going to get the membership. After a half heart facial and not washing my hair before deep condition or styling I left the salon looking worse than if I did my own hair. When you leave the salon you should be proud of what you had done, want to show it off, and get what you pay for. None of that happened for me. Do not let Marquis touch your hair if you book an appointment here. I'm new in town and was looking for someone to do my balayage. I'd had it previously so this was a touch up with a request made to him to only touch up the strands that had been done. I want it to look natural. 1. He didn't listen and did almost the entire top layer of my head instead 2. The color is uneven with parts blonde and parts red 3. My hair was so dry afterwards I had to deep condition it myself after coming home 4. I'd ask for a cut with my color which he didn't do (which was probably a small mercy). To add to this a new girlfriend I met looked at my hair and asked if Marquis did it. Turns out he did the same thing to her a few months back!! This salon is located in a convenient location (diagonally across Costco and across the street from Sprouts). I called a week in advance for an appointment, and even though Saturdays were booked for almost a month, Ben was willing to stay late on a Wednesday to accommodate my schedule. This ended up working well for me since I was able to eat dinner and run some errands before my 7pm appointment. As soon as I walked in, all the hair stylists were very friendly and greeted me immediately. I was offered a water or soda, and did not wait too long to be seated. I really liked the products used for my hair wash, and Ben did a great job with the simple long layer I requested. Moving to a new place & trying to find the "right" hair stylist is up there on my most dreaded list. Fortunately, after sifting through Yelp, I came across Prodigy. Couldn't have been happier with my experience! I was slightly concerned when I found out that my stylist, Miles, was a new graduate - I have fine, thin, naturally curly hair that never seems to get cut quite right, even with senior experience. However he was a gem! He told me how Jessa (Senior Stylist/Salon Co-Owner) had a hand in training & mentoring him. It's a tribute to both of their skills that I walked away a happy customer. Most importantly I was still happy when I washed & styled (brushed & left it to do its own thing!) my hair the next day. Am still pleased a week later & will be calling this my regular salon from now on - thanks Miles & the rest of the team! I love this salon! I moved from Georgia and had a hard time finding a new hair salon "home". I gave prodigy salon and have loved them over the last year! I love the ambiance in the salon and Staci has been wonderful, she always listens to exactly what I want and makes suggestions for style and products that are really helpful. It is easy to make appointments online and they even gave me a military discount on Veterans Day weekend (thank you!!!). Definitely recommend this spot! read more

I have been a client of Jessa's since Summer 2015 and have never EVER been tempted to go anywhere else! Jessa is a great colorist! I have naturally dark dark brown hair but have upkept a "Cruella" half-and-half blonde and black hairstyle since Jan 2012. I have run the gamut through blonde, copper, buttery-blonde, and platinum throughout those years, but Jessa has done a superb job of keeping me nice and platinum! She is very caring about her clients and is a great person to talk to! Boredom doesn't exist at Prodigy! Natalie is a barber and I have convinced my man to start going to her for his cuts. He feels just at-home as I do when I get my hair done. All of the Prodigy staff are go-getters and you will be very happy with your hair and their work, no matter who you choose! About the salon itself: They have a modern feel with an open air ceiling, HUGE mirrors at every station, and a very clean and comfortable waiting area. The Prodigy staff will greet you when you arrive and offer you something to drink. The stations are clean and the chairs are comfortable. The "wash house" is so soothing! The chairs lean back, have foot rests, and the sinks have a headrest! None of that neck-breaking scooped sinks. As for color, Prodigy offers any color you imagine! The prices for everything is extremely reasonable as well. I have paid as much as $200 for my platinum roots and toner elsewhere, and so far, I have never needed to spend that much, even after a fairly generous tip. I believe a men's cut is in the $20-$25 range. The parking in the complex is kinda funny as each spot has a "designated" business parking only (not sure who checks it, but I've never worried about which spot I use). I have been to this salon twice -- almost a record-breaker for me. When somebody does my hair right the first time, listens to what I want and can duplicate my hair almost exactly like a photograph -- THAT IS TALENT! Went here twice already for a balayage and both times I left a little disappointed. I showed a picture of the balayage I wanted and the hair coloring, but they just can't seem to get it. My first experience was way better than my latest one though. Shane did my hair the first time, but even though it wasn't quite the color I wanted, he still did a great job and was true to the pricing ($99). But my second experience was very disappointing (with a different stylist). I came in with a warm golden blonde balayge and wanting a more lighter/noticeable blonde balayage.. And I left with basically the same color I started with. Also the was the price $40 over, they didn't explain why. I don't understand how a $99 balayage turned into $140 (without tip). I also had like 3 hair stylists work on my hair and the blowout turned out awful.. read more

I found this salon by accident- and I am so glad! I was introduced to Sam and she took the time to listen to what I wanted done to my hair! I love my haircut and will definitely be back. She also was able to fix my daughters hair. My daughter has very curly hair and her last haircut (over a year ago) it was horrible. The lady who cut it did not know how to cut curly hair, but Sam was able to fix it and even it out. read more

I went on 01Feb17 to for a haircut. I had Kat who was amazing. Great personality and excellent conversationalist. She spent time getting to know what I wanted in my haircut and look. The woman read my mind. She took off all my split ends without sacrificing length. My hair looks perfect. It has a long layers that give my hair a waterfall effect to my already ombréd hair. She also is very fast. I will definitely be seeing her again in the future. read more

I'm new to Colorado and was really nervous going into a new hair salon especially since I was looking to get a dramatic cut and I have curly hair. Finding a stylist that is good with curly hair is very difficult. The receptionist recommended Staci and she did an amazing job! I absolutely love my hair cut and she also provided a lot of great advice. Everyone was super friendly and it was a very welcoming place. I'm definitely glad that I chose to go here. read more
