When I walked through the doors of Prodigy for the first time, I knew they had something special going and I knew in that moment that it was where I wanted my career to continue. I still felt that when I decided to work closer to home-nearly 11 years later. Commuting 45 minutes each way with a child in elementary school and extra curricular activities wasn't going to be feasible, so I felt it was best to find a job closer to home. It was a very difficult decision because my kids and I Prodigy so much! Prodigy will never be just a job that takes up space on my resume, it was a career-A career I loved deeply and took very seriously. Going to work every day, I knew that I was supported not only by fellow teachers, and administrators, but also by the owners, Stephanie and Joseph. Well we pulled our child out of a well known daycare, because we felt she was not getting the attention that she needed from the staff there. The classes were unruly with little structure. We choose Prodigy due to the fact that a lot of the parents that left our daughters previous school had gone to Prodigy. At first glance the school seemed to be okay, but me being a Director of Hospitals & Safety Officer noticed some cleaning and much needed maintenance to the building, but this is common and decided not to say anything to my wife, who was in love with the location and fact that other parents had liked Prodigy. In any case we continued with our tour and I started to hone in on "safety Issues" such as egress points from the 2nd floor are choked (this could be a huge issue of that building ever needed evacuation?). Then there were the "Farm Animals" in the rear of the property that I thought was "inappropriate" to say the least, but as you can imagine my daughter was infatuated because "they had animals". My first impressions of "Stephanie" was not good, she struck me as a person that is hiding a behavior problem, but against my intuitions my wife decided to enroll my daughter. The first (2) weeks were fine, then starting the 3rd week we got a call telling us to "pick our daughter up", because "she was trying to get out of the front door". By the time I had made it home my wife called and said "Prodigy called and said NOT to bring her back, because of the incident today" I called Stephanie to see what had happened and what could be done to salvage my daughter's enrollment, Stephanie abruptly said "nothing can be done, that is it" then began to tell me what had happened, which was a lot different than what my wife said she told her, so when I got home we immediately called Stephanie back to collaborate the stories and immediately Stephanie started "back pedaling" her story(s). I explained this is the first incident with my daughter and we need to come up with a solution that would serve us both, and she explained she is the business owner and she can basically do what ever she wants........WOW? This is a person in business to take care of other peoples children, to get them prepared for school and to help in the development of your child; I was at this point completely SHOCKED? I started talking to my daughter when I arrived home, who was (4) going on (5) at the time to fill in the unknown. After that day, and asking my (4) year old what had happened she explained that there was a dispute between her and another child and the substitute teacher (not her normal teacher) had grabbed her and stuck her finger in her chest to a point where she said "it hurt", so I asked my daughter the same questions in many different ways just to make sure I was getting the story correct and after a few times asking my daughter, she NEVER waiverd from what she had told us, so we decided it was time to call the police department and file a report. We are currently waiting to hear from that investigation to file civil proceedings against Prodigy. I DO NOT feel that the owner Stephanie is attuned and acclimated to taking care of children and dealing with any kind of situation that is out of her norm, nor do I believe this is the first time of this nature from this school! I WOULD NEVER RETURN MY DAUGHTER TO PRODIGY AGAIN! read more
