I agree with the review in 2013 --- Infant 1 is great, if there are only 4 babies. The teacher in that room loves the children and takes great care of them, the problem is she never gets any consistent help. The daycare never allows extra workers to have the children get more attention than the state minimum requirements.
Infant 2 room --- is okay if you are waiting to transition into another daycare. The teacher is not meant to work with children. She is always grumpy, does not seem to be kind, or like her job, and is always stressed (this could also be because of the high ratios and lack of help). However, she is way better than the other people they have hired to work with the children, which is not saying much. There are not really any planned activities for the children - sensory activities? No. Story time? No. Consistent nap and feeding schedule? No. One time a worker told me they didn't put my child down for her afternoon nap because my child seemed happy playing... until she was overtired and a terror for hours that night. This happened more than once. The workers do not necessarily know about child development that infants need naps, schedules, etc....
Workers on their phones is also a huge problem. I once witnessed a "teacher" in Infant 2 sitting in the corner with her headphones in while four children played on the floor.
The center does not transition kids appropriately either. There are infants in Infant 2 who are fully walking and over a year old, should be transitioned into infant 3, but because of their poor transitioning, there is no room for them to move up and therefore there is a 15 month old in Infant 2, who bites. There is no redirection with the child. After being reassured she was going to be transitioned into the older room three times, I sought other daycares. This poor child is basically put in an activity center or a high chair most of the time because if not, she will charge another infant and bite them. I have seen this happen at least 4 times. The day care also stopped writing incident reports for these bites. (I am almost positive they are required to write one for every injury by law, they do not).
My advice - get on a waiting list at a better daycare; it might be a little more expensive (ours is $160 more/month) but definitely better for development if you have a choice. I hope childtime gets their act together with their new director, but all I feel is sorry for the children who just basically get free play with toys and their diapers changed. read more
