Being at Kroka was one of the most soul-nourishing things she has ever done because it so specifically fit who she is and what she wants to be a part of. When I came to pick her up I was the one who cried; it was heartbreaking to think of her leaving such a peaceful setting, in which all of the pieces (the relationships, the work, the setting) were all as they "should be." Aria cannot stop reflecting on the experience. Her relationships and conversations with Marga, Davicho, and Dylan were inspiring and supportive. Her peers were fun and real. Her job (kitchen set up) felt meaningful. Her physical environment was breathtaking. The level of independence was appropriate and freeing. Again, crying as I write this... ha ha. I cannot thank you enough for providing a place in which her heart and her body feel at home. * I also want to comment briefly after reading a few of the other reviews. I also speak from the vantage point of a teacher who worked with Kroka as they were developing the organization in the late 90's. At that time Misha's son was in my Montessori classroom, and Misha and Lynn were "testing things out" (so to speak) with our class, so I was able to participate in a number of trips. In addition, I volunteered with Kroka one summer on a whitewater trip. I would agree with the reviewer who urged parents (and especially schools) to research carefully. Kroka is indeed, an outlier, and is not risk-free. Life is not risk-free. A tree fell down very close to my daughter's campsite last summer during a storm. As difficult as it was as a parent, to hear this, I have confidence that the trip leaders chose the site wisely, and I cannot imagine doing any better. Kroka is not cushy. Kids will be wet, or cold and uncomfortable at times. And honestly, it probably isn't for every kid... and schools have a range of kids. Some of my students were much happier than others with the experience. I do believe, however, that Kroka offers a unique, rich, often life-changing experience that is worth taking advantage of, especially in this era of protection and safety.

The school has a high tuition and easily offers some scholarship help if you give them you tax returns. Well as soon as they got the check from us they must have decided we were flush because they cancelled the scholarship assistance. My kid got into Andover as well... should have gone there in my book. Siblings did and they love the place. St Paul's ... no warm and fuzzy feelings here.

There is constant vandalism throughout the school but mainly in the bathrooms. The school has now placed cameras throughout the school to watch the students yet nothing gets done about the bullying. And the teachers do not keep students informed about what's going on during lockdowns. Not to mention the wires that hang from the ceilings, the water damage in the roofs, the chiped floors the students are constantly tripping and injuring themselves on. And agin ill mention the constant bullying that's happening from teachers and students. Something at this school seriously needs to change.

When did Rundlett get hip hop. OMG I'm excited I can't wait to meet her dance coach. If you live in concord and your child goes to Rundlett let them join dance because my cousin has so much confidence, she made new friends, she has learned to be a team player. She was not interested in anything before so I'm very proud of her. Go Rundlett and Go Dance coach!!!!!!
