All of the details that I have provided are unequivocally true, and my review is accurate based on our experience with the work that he performed. I find it highly unprofessional to have accurate reviews removed because they ruin a 5 star rating, especially without any contact to discuss the situation. Our family has a small cabin just outside Bozeman. My mother had reached to Mike to install a replacement door on the main building. The door was installed, and overall, the job appeared to be completed pretty well. Fast forward to our last visit to the cabin to check on things, and it was found that the door that Mike installed had been removed and the cabin ransacked. My family has owned this cabin for close to 25 years, and we never had issues with anybody being able to break in, however many times people have tried, myself included. The problem we have is how the door was installed. The new door was installed more or less how the old one was, however, the carriage bolts that go through the hinge into the door were installed backwards. He installed them from the inside out, meaning that the hex nuts retaining the door were on the outside of the structure, making them accessible to anybody to remove. I will note that the original door was installed with the carriage bolts coming from the outside in, so it was not just put on the way the old one was installed. We are not doubting that he installed the supplied door, and that it was functionable. However, the method used to install it was not proper from a security standpoint. I would imagine that the basics of installing an exterior door (especially one on a secondary residence) were it would not be unheard of to store camping gear, firearms, generators, etc., would involve installing the hardware in a manner that would prevent anybody from removing in 3 minutes with a pair of pliers. If an auto repair shop installed your brake pads backwards, so that they "worked" for the time being, but slowly wore abnormally and destroyed other components over time, would that be considered acceptable? Part of any job/task in general require proper installation of the hardware. Just because something "works" does not mean that it was done right. If there were any problems with the structure or the supplied parts preventing a proper installation, that should have been brought up with the customer. There was absolutely no reason that the bolts needed to be installed backwards. After the Sherriff left, i went to the hardware store, purchased new bolts and nuts, and installed them as it should have been with no issues. We reached out to Mike to make him aware of the situation, and it seems that he couldn't care less. All he said was that he installed the door as per our instructions. I don't think that is is reasonable to imply that we had to specify that we wanted the door to have a basic level of security. Thank goodness that only about $5000 worth of stuff was stolen, the damage to the inside was minimal, and that nobody was hurt unsuspectingly walking up to a cabin with squatters in it. read more

I hired Mike to install a cabin door, and the job was done completely wrong--the door was installed backwards. This allowed thieves to unbolt it from the outside and break into my cabin, causing significant loss and damage. This was not just poor workmanship; it was a serious safety issue. Eight weeks ago, he was hired to construct a small shed. I was assured he could start work, but the day before he promised to contact me to finalize plans, he cancelled the work, saying he was "busy". Did not answer or return phone calls. Very unprofessional and flakey. read more
