In November, 2022, I urgently needed a new roof before winter, so I just picked one from the…read morephonebook, which I never do without extensive research, but this proved to be a lucky break for me. It was Roscoe Roofing (SJBS Construction). Sal came right over to give me an estimate on my leaking roof. Other contractors each told me something different as far as what the problem was. Sal took the time to explain that it could be several things and what was needed to fix all the possible problems. He pointed out all the mistakes that were made with the prior roofing job. He impressed me with his extensive knowledge, so I hired them. They showed up bright and early every day, around 7:30, and worked through the whole day. They extended my dormers a foot so they extended over the windows and wrapped and caulked all the windows. I could tell just by being around them as they worked that Sal is a perfectionist and if something didn't look right, he made sure it was re-done correctly. I've had so many bad experiences with contractors so I was very happy to finally get such a competent one. I'm not an expert but to me it looks like they did an exceptional job. And I know they stand by their work because I called them when I had a question, and Sal came over the very next day.

Michael White repaired our roof and siding after a micro-cell severely destroyed it…read more He bid 10% higher than the other 3 bids we collected, but he seemed extremely trustworthy. His story line is "I am a Christian, as honest as the day is long, and I want to earn your future business with high quality work". He took 8 weeks to do a job he said would be completed in a week. He said we needed "17 to 20 squares of siding" and never told us if he estimated wrong he could not bring back the rest of it. He charged us $700 a square for the siding, ordered 17 squares, only received 15 squares and only used 12 squares. We were stuck with $2,100 of siding we can't use. Again: he never said he could not return the extra if he measured wrong; and using 12 of 17 means he was off by 30%. He used subcontractors, some of them first-time subcontractors. His son would foreman the work, and always came late and went home early. The excuses for the delays were almost endless; often involving some relative that died or was sick and that he had to leave state. At the end he told one of his employees "the work looks good so I am going to try to squeeze them for more money after the job is done". He told us "I would like some extra money at the end beyond our signed contract because I feel my son did a better than expected job". We only paid him the agreed to amount even though he never sided one portion of the house that was requested; and at the end we had an employee call us asking for some money because he said "Mike never paid me my money". I recommend you use anyone but this company. The owner will act like he knows what he's doing; but in reality he seems like he is new to this. We constantly had to walk around the house and point out the things they got wrong. You end up being the foreman even though you are paying him to be that.
