I called them after the delivery to let them know they delivered the wrong product and they blamed their supplier for the color difference and said sorry but too bad. They never gave me a heads up prior to my order about the color difference. I would never have ordered if I knew it was brown. I spent hard earned money only to be mislead on what kind of product I was getting. Now half of my yard will be brown and the other half is black. The first picture is what I ordered and is taken directly from their website. The second is what they delivered. Clearly it is not the same product.

They have recently just moved west from their old location, located off of Marine Drive, in Fairview, near Troutdale (East). I come from Portland (west) and their entrance is kind of on the middle of the curve (from the 223rd on-ramp it'll make sense when you are driving) it just kind of sneaks up on you. Been here a couple times now and it's a real easy process. They open at 7:30a-5pm mon-fri, 9-4 Saturday, and close Sunday. Follow the signs and wait at the office for an attendant. Starts at $12, It hasn't been very busy, and you kind of on your own unloading. I have only dropped off tree limbs and yard debris; on my way out I see you can purchase lots of different ground material. From other yelp reviews, they look like they have pretty decent prices and are pretty satisfied. I will be looking into possibly purchasing something for my yard. It's definitely place to check out!

I found Bloomsday at the Vancouver Pollinator Festival. I've been searching for literal years for…read morethe right someones to help me reclaim my space: lovingly planted years ago with family who are now dead or gone, the property was overgrown completely, me overwhelmed (think Gertrude Jekyll meets Ken Druse meets the late great Joy Creek Nursery - then left to just grow for 5-10 years). I didn't want a "removal" or an "install," I wanted a long-term partnership with caring humans who would help me wrestle my space into a proper ecological safe haven and food forest I can actually handle - without clearcutting it all. Matt came out for the consult, and I learned so much just from that; he knew the uses for practically every plant here. He resonated with my vision, and made a plan that was right for me. Then, he, Rachel and Angel came out yesterday and dug in. Honestly, it was so nerve-wracking to open my space up and trust. I left for my day job while they were in the middle of pruning-weeding-everything-everywhere, got home after dark, then went out in my slippers and jams this morning, coffee in hand, to see what they'd done. What I beheld was like a gift, like my Garden Fairy Godmother had come and waved her wand all around my space. I literally teared up seeing the shrubs we agreed to keep carefully pruned, those slated for removal completely gone, invasives removed, and cuttings carefully laid out as mulch or to create new walkways. They added to my limb-bordered path, and added and raked in gravel from my pile to show the vision. They even collected the apples from the tree Matt pruned in a bucket for me. Whole mini bioregions of my garden are opened up now. I have gone from hopeless to thrilled. I'm ready to dream a beautiful future for this place, and my life, and this is a very, very big deal. I'll be enthusiastically hiring them back to continue this transformation, and I cannot wait. Will add photos shortly.

In 2021, they moved to Sandy. Their website maintains an availability sheet so you can see what they've got before you make the drive out, but it is worth visiting to see the plants in action. They have small display gardens. The entire property is outdoors so dress warmly in case of rain. They're open year round, but at a high enough elevation that they get snow in winter so plan accordingly. I recently visited looking for plants to go near my frog pond. The staff was so helpful in showing me around to potential options. I have a decent native plant knowledge but they've got so many options! Plants I've never heard of before! As usual, I left with more plants than I planned on getting :) So far, they're happy in the ground, and I can't wait to see how they thrive in spring. Keep an eye on the business's social media for sales. Oh and they accept nursery pots back so you don't have to trash or recycle them!

I was fortunate enough to see some of their handiwork at an event held in the yard of someone who had previously discovered them. Hearing about what that space had looked like before and seeing the magical landscape that had been created there, I knew my wife and I needed to meet Nick Lake. Since then, he and his fantastic team have completely transformed our outside space into the most beautiful part of our home. Nick is an absolute treasure trove of inspiration and information. From the moment we first met with him, we knew we wanted to proceed as soon as possible. We didn't have pressing issues that made landscaping work an "emergency" (e.g., no water problems directly related to the yard), so an outside project easily could have waited. We also did not have a high level of horticultural knowledge, nor did we even know exactly what we wanted when we first started talking to Nick. We knew our yard had "potential", i.e. it was a smallish but not tiny, pretty drab space that wasn't particularly functional and wasn't much to look it. It was our conversation with Nick and his vision for the yard that made us want to move forward at that time and turn it into something great. Since then, with a combination of "demo" work, mulching, softscaping and hardscaping, every aspect of our yard has become a thing of beauty that we see and enjoy every single day. Throughout the process, Nick and his team have worked closely with us on every decision and every detail. Nick plays an integral role in all parts of the process and communication with him and his team has always been easy, fun, rewarding, and thorough. There have never been any surprises in terms of cost or how something was done. As a result, everything is exactly what was discussed and we could not be any happier with it. Nick certainly deserves the lion's share of the credit as the owner of the business, the mastermind behind the work, and a hands-on contributor to the implementation. That said, huge shout out for his entire crew and honorary mention for Tulsi, the smart and adorable dog that might make some appearances if Tashana is working and you give the green light. Every member of the team brings something important to the job, always including hard work but also creativity and individual areas of interest and expertise. The result is frequent flashes of brilliance and pleasant surprises throughout all phases of a project. It isn't a great time of year for pictures as I'm writing this (I'll add more in the spring) but below is a stone bench that took form during one day's work. This was not even part of the original plan, just an off-the-cuff idea (thanks to Kyle, Tommy, Daniel and Tashana if memory serves) to which we could have said "no thanks" if we were that foolish. Even once there are more pictures to add, they can only do so much. Nick knows he is always welcome to swing by and show off the beauty, which keeps getting better with every growth season. Whether we are sitting in the yard, walking through it to get to or from the house, or just staring at it through a window, we count ourselves lucky that this is actually part of our home. I cannot recommend Earth Ecology strongly enough. With Nick and his crew, you will get everything that you wanted and a lot more. As happened for us, you will get done with each step and be so happy that you decided to go for it, and occasionally scratch your head wondering if there is anything else you can do out there. Thanks, Earth Ecology :-)
