Los Campeones - Brooklyn Center: My Take on the New-Age Bodybuilding Mecca of Minnesota…read more As someone who has been actively bodybuilding for over a decade in the Twin Cities, I've spent years searching for a gym that truly checks all the boxes--high-quality equipment, ergonomically smart machines, and an intense, no-frills environment rooted in traditional bodybuilding culture. I've held memberships at multiple gyms--including Anytime Fitness, Lifetime, LA Fitness, Minneapolis Bouldering Project, university gyms, and even Planet Fitness (lmao, only for tanning during show prep)--plus other Los Campeones locations. I also travel to different states to check out new gyms just for fun. I currently hold three active memberships to support my various hobbies and training styles, and I can proudly say: Los Campeones Brooklyn Center is easily one of the nicest gyms I've ever trained at. I'm thankful to have it in my own backyard. This location feels like a culmination of everything they've learned from other gyms--built specifically with serious lifters in mind, especially those in the bodybuilding community. The variety of machines and cable setups allows you to train with precision and purpose. If you know what muscles you want to target, this gym gives you every tool to do it right. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and the staff regularly walk the floor to keep everything in top shape. On the rare chance something is down, it's typically fixed by the next day--that kind of responsiveness is rare and appreciated. There's a posing room, more machines, racks, and cables than you could ask for, and enough space and equipment to support any discipline--aesthetics, strength, mobility, or general fitness. They even offer a designated fridge and area for post-workout meals, which is cleaned weekly (currently Fridays). It's small details like this that show the gym is built with intention and care for the people who train there. I've been a member since the soft opening, and it's been amazing to watch the gym grow based on real community feedback. It's clear the staff and owners genuinely care about building something great for everyone who walks in. Only downside? The parking spots are tight, and it can be a bit of a squeeze getting in and out of your car--but honestly, that's a small price to pay for a gym that delivers so much. Pro tip: Evenings can get busy, but if you go early morning or during off hours, you'll have more than enough space and equipment to yourself. More photos to come, but if you're serious about your training and want a space that matches your intensity, Los Campeones Brooklyn Center is the place. TL;DR: A true bodybuilder's gym with high-end equipment, clean facilities, and a community-driven vibe--Los Campeones Brooklyn Center is one of the best gyms in Minnesota.

The staff is friendly, and I especially like the bright, well-done lighting. The location also has a posing room and an MMA room, which is a great bonus. At times it can get a little crowded, and you'll often see influencer-type gym goers, which isn't necessarily bad but something to keep in mind. Overall, I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you're looking for a gym in the area.

We are a family new to navigating the speech therapy world. We went to Metro Therapy hoping they…read morecould help our one-year-old daughter with early language development. Instead, we were left with serious concerns about the clinic's billing practices, transparency, and ethical treatment. Our daughter was one year old when she began receiving routine 30-minute speech therapy for a speech delay and early language development. During some sessions, her therapist incorporated a clinic-owned iPad with the freely downloadable SoundingBoard app. We had absolutely no idea that the occasional use of an iPad during these sessions was being treated and billed as a separate therapeutic service for the use of a speech-generating device or that it could result in a separate charge to our family. From our perspective, the iPad was one of many therapy tools being rotated into sessions. We often saw an iPad, a laptop, toys, books and other activities being used and rotated during therapy. Nothing about the way the iPad was introduced or used led us to believe that it represented a separate, specialized service that would generate an additional charge. Our daughter also did not require a dedicated communication device. She was one year old and receiving therapy for early language development and gap. She has no diagnoses of apraxia or any other reason for a device. We did not understand that occasional exposure to an iPad with a free communication app was being treated as a separate specialized AAC service. The distinction was especially confusing because we had seen other patients at the clinic using what appeared to be dedicated AAC devices, with much more advanced programs that they relied upon for communication. We had no reason to believe that occasional use of a clinic-owned iPad with a free app was being classified and billed in the same way. We were therefore shocked to discover that Metro Therapy had submitted separate charges for a speech-generating-device service in addition to the regular speech therapy charges. The biggest problem: we were never told. We repeatedly asked Metro's office manager about the expected out-of-pocket cost of our daughter's speech therapy after going a period of time without receiving bills. After several inquiries, we were given information about the cost of the speech therapy sessions and our expected responsibility. We were never told that use of the clinic's iPad could result in a separate SGD-related charge. Had we known, we would have asked important questions: What separate service was being provided? Why was it medically necessary? How was it different from the speech therapy we were already paying for? And what would it cost us? Instead, we discovered these additional charges only after insurance processed the claims and the resulting patient responsibility appeared on our bill. And this was not a small charge. The disputed charges associated with the speech-generating-device service were submitted to our insurance for more than $2,600 and ultimately represented well over half of our out-of-pocket responsibility. That is a substantial financial obligation -- not a minor billing difference -- that we had no idea we were accumulating while our daughter was receiving what we understood to be routine speech therapy. When we questioned the charges, Metro Therapy told us that they did not have a signed acknowledgment of the financial policies, but stated that the policies had been provided to us during an initial meeting with a Patient Liaison. That does not match our recollection of what occurred. We never met with anyone from a Patient Liaison during the initial evaluation. Our interactions were with the therapist, and we were never informed that the occasional use of an iPad could result in thousands of dollars in additional charges. Our concern is not simply that we received a bill we did not expect. It is that a highly specialized service and substantial additional financial obligation were never explained to us before the charges were incurred. We believe families deserve to know what they are being charged for, what services are considered separate from their child's regular therapy, why those services are being provided, and what their potential financial responsibility will be. We are sharing our experience because we believe other families deserve the opportunity to ask these questions before unexpected charges accumulate. We are continuing to seek clarification from the clinic and our insurance company. Parents should not have to discover after the fact that an ordinary-looking therapy tool used during their child's session was being billed as a separate specialized service. Transparency should come before the bill -- not after it.
