I woke up this morning to find the hot water heater leaking. Fortunately, it's located in the garage, so there was no damage. I did a Google search and liked the reviews on Pro Tec. I also liked that I called at 8 am, and by 2:30 pm, I had a new hot water heater installed. I don't think I received the best "deal" I could get on the water heater. I could have saved some bucks. However, with this installation, I received a 10-year warranty from the company, and they will come out and service the water heater for a small extra amount. My installer was Jaime V., who had great knowledge and a friendly attitude. He caught a small leak in his work and fixed it. As we all know, some would have just left; however, Jaime wanted to leave with everything fixed. I have had this water heater for just a few hours. If something in the future causes me to change my opinion, I will update the review. read more

The employees touched personal property and manipulated the security cameras that are in our home. They turned the cameras around so we would not be able to see what they were doing in our unit. We did not personally hire them as they were hired by our condo association and the condo property manager. Also, they tried to say the washer connection and pipes were installed incorrectly and charged us $1,000.00 dollars to correct them. After a second opinion, we were informed that nothing was wrong with the connection or pipes. This gave a red flag to us. We feel this company is not trustworthy. Pro-Tec Plumbing & Air of Naples, FL is NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CONSIDERATION for your plumbing needs! If indeed you have used this company and your project required a permit, check with local government to ensure the permit was in fact filed and the process completed as required for your address. Check with the local government permit portal for your address to ensure the permit has been granted for your project at your address. If you uncover any issues, file a Complaint with the Florida Division of Business and Professional Regulation. Pro-Tec charged $205 for "all necessary permits to complete the desired work". Currently two months AFTER installation and still no permit to BEGIN the installation. This is a violation of business regulations and a breach of contract. Pro-Tech charged $5129 (including $205 permit fee) to install a FULLY FUNCTIONAL tankless hot water heater as contracted and paid for by customer. The unit as installed does not function as designed due to Pro-Tec error in failure to identify required component (or intentionally disregarding requirement in favor of their profitability). Removal of the tankless water was requested immediately after installation and refused due to self-centered concern for profitability. This matter is a breach of contract reflecting incompetence, lapse in professional duties, and flagrant refusal to accept responsibility and correct in manner satisfactory to customer. Multiple complaints have been filed with Consumer Protection Agencies. Other consumers experiencing issues with this company are encouraged to do the same. read more

I had a running toilet and knew the gasket needed to be replaced. A $6.47 part on Amazon retail. I also asked to screw off an outdoor shower head and screw on one I purchased, along with plumber tape and step stool I provided, I was quoted $225 for the job. I had to accept because the toilet was running more frequently. Then the bill came to $294.00. They added a $69 service charge on top of the $225. There was literally 5 minutes of actual work and 15 minutes to wait to see if the blue dye leaked into the toilet. Pro Tec Plumbing Owner lives in our community and knew that was why were reached out. Unfortunately I will not be a repeat customer. Caveat Emptor! read more

This business has flat rates: We were charged $75 for ProTec to simply dispatch a plumber to our address. At an additional "flat fee" of $280, the techs spent 20 minutes to evaluate and identify the source of leak as coming from drainage piping (leaking toilet). Their evaluation included other potential plumbing issues for consideration. They charged us over $350 -- without repairs. Their "flat fee" (with a military discount) to replace flappers & floats for 2 toilets was and ADDITIONAL $535. The 1 star is kudos to the professional staff we interacted with. Predatory pricing? Beware: Do not hire this company. The very worst experience that I have ever had with any company. They replaced my hot water heater 4 years ago for over $1,000. The cold water line fittings completely corroded and rusted out and developed a major leak. I live on the 8th floor in a condo in Naples and if someone was not there at the time, the water leak would have flooded all 7 floors below me and could have caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage due to improper fittings used on the cold water line. Was told by the tech that the guy who did this, probably doesn't work here any longer. I had no water since shut off valve for tank did not work, also installed by them. Had to turn off main supply line. They came out and said would replace tank at no charge and be there later that day or following day. I asked for an emergency repair just to get cold water working and they wanted $374.00 to put a cap on the line to stop leak. Another way to hold me a hostage. They would not answer phones, even the emergency number. Talked to the owner the very next day and he said to sign the estimate he sent by e mail for $986 and they will install tank. $986.00 was for labor only or a job that they said would take 2 hours to complete, highway robbery! They were holding me at full hostage without a useable condo, (could not even flush toilets). I am a school teacher and had to work the next day and had to drive clear across town to shower at a friend's house before work. I hired an honest and reputable plumber the very next day and he by -passed tank for cold water use and charged me only $67.00. The new honest company will get all of my future work and business for all of our condo units in the future. I have used Pro-Tec twice, and will never use them again. Just over a year ago, we had them install some washing machine feeds. The tech convinced me to install a main shut off valve behind the municipal shut off valve. The job came to over $700. The joint between the main feed and the copper assembly that they installed recently started leaking a lot. I called and explained the problem. They required a $74 dispatch fee, with repair cost to be discussed with the tech. I took a chance and agreed. The tech said it was an easy job, and the total cost would be over $400. I sent him packing. I called another plumber we had used, who charged $245 total, soldering and all. I was expecting to pay something for repair of the work that Pro-Tec had done, which had failed. I wasn't expecting that they would gouge me to repair their work to this extent. Expecting that their recommended $700+ installation would not fall apart within fourteen months seems reasonable. Both of the techs were polite and professional. Pro-Tec's communiction, up front marketing, and organization seem good. If you have lots of money and don't care how much equivalent work costs, maybe it's for you. read more

I have used Pro-Tec Plumbing for over 10 years for two homes. They are without a doubt professional, extremely competent and very reasonably-priced. Over the years, I had over eight projects they did for me from maintenance to new remodeling construction. Each job was done to perfection and clean. I hired them from a friend's recommendation while living in Old Naples. My home was over 40 years old and I had bathroom drainage issues. They used a fiber-optic camera to follow my pipes from inside to the outside. They showed me the old pipes were being cracked by roots and and age. They fixed the problem on time and in budget. After a recommendation from a neighbor, we requested they come and look at a leak in our bathroom lanai. The technician wanted to charge us $149.00 for a diagnostic fee when you could clearly see the source of the problem behind the sink from the water mark on the dry wall. After a 30 minute conversation with the Service rep who admitted she was " new to her job", they removed the charge. The plumber fixed one leak which caused another leak to erupt. This despite the fact the Description of Work completed, " no other leaks detected". We had to get water mitigation, mold removal, new hardwood floors and baseboards. The " Service" rep would not even reimburse for the amount of the original invoice and told us to " call our insurance company!" read more

Would not recommend. We called Pro-Tec for a sudden plumbing issue with little to no knowledge of a good plumber in the Naples, FL area. After having three different technicians come to the home, on three separate days, and spending just about $500- our issue is still NOT resolved. Further, the plumber who arrived on the second day had NO idea that another technician from that same company was at the home the day previous- until notified after his arrival. I remodeled my bath and needed a shower faucet installed. I had already purchased the faucet and could not do it myself. They sent a man over to give me an estimate. I paid for the estimate and arranged for him to complete the job. He came back but discovered he did not have the correct parts and I was charged for his time plus a diagnosis fee. I agreed to the cost of new parts and labor for the solution. He came back a few days later and after at Least 2 hours of trying to make the valve work, decided that his diagnosis was wrong and he made a new diagnosis which I was charged for plus the time he spent trying to make his wrong diagnosis work. The third time he came back he finally got it right. I was charge $725.00 for the installation of a shower faucet. I was hosed. read more

Originally I had them replace the flange of the toilet. They charged $360 for the job. A few months later, the toilet leaks down and create a mess on the ceiling. I call again today which they come out and indicate that the wax was improperly installed and the tech screws down the flange to the floor and replace the wax ring. It leaks again and he said it is the toilet and quote more than $700 to replace the toilet. I decide not to do it and they charge almost $170 for reseat the toilet. I am really frustrated since they force the tech to collect the money right after the work "completed" instead of invoicing. Moreover, I suspect that they screwed up when they tried to change the flange in the first place since the toilet was not leaking before that. I had previously written a glowing review which I retracted. PRO-TEC originally did our fully overhaul of our plumbing in our condo. All went very well. The only issue was pour water pressure in our kitchen. We supplied all plumbing fixtures and Pre-TEC s instructed to remove all water savers BEFORE installation. This was done in the two showers, two bathroom taps. While still under warranty we asked if the kitchen waterline was being squeezed or was the water saver removed. after Sending someone, they basically said it was likely our GROHE faucet. Last year, they came for a toilet repair. Again I asked if they saw a solution and was told to replace the faucet head. We purchased a new one ( I still have the original) but there was no change. Last week we had another toilet issue. I called and asked what the hourly rate was and was told it was $149. NOT TOLD THT ONCE THEY ARE HERE THEY CHARGE BY THE JOB. Again, third time, we showed the water flow problem. He removed the spout and said there's no problem with the tap, the problem is the water saver is still in there. We were SHOCKED. He removed it at a cost of $139! I called Tammy at the office and she refused to credit us the cost. she said it should have been addressed while under warranty, WHICH IT WAS, then she said it was OUR FAUCET so they are not responsible. she asked what do you want me to do and I said, return that money but she said no. Furthermore she had said that we were supposed to get a 100$ credit against the whole job. Which was not told to me by the plumber David. He built that charge into the price of $139 PER FLAPPER INSTALLATION. He changed two. The whole job was less than an our to remove the ORIGINAL water saver and two flappers. The cost was over $420. Highway robbery. Tammy was not interested in keeping a client. She was not willing to assume their responsibility. We paid to replace a spout unnecessarily and then got gauged for another $139! I live in the upper floor of a 2 story condo and the seal on my toilet broke. The plumber set by the HOA wanted to charge me $200 and another plumber I checked with said it was a 2 hour job @90 per hour + parts. A friend recommended Pro Tec Plumbing. They quoted a $99 service fee and estimated it at $130. They were scheduled to arrive at 2:30 and I got a call about 10 minutes before they arrived, slightly ahead of schedule. Chris, a 6'4" soft spoken giant appeared and had the toilet reseated in short order. He explained everything he was doing & afterwards went into the unit below to make sure it solved the problem. Bill was $132.00. Job was done quickly & efficiently. Chris is a fine young man, honest and courteous. Total time, including checking unit below, about 50 minutes. Purchased a 65 gallon hot water heater from them for a condo in Fort Myers on January 15, 2015. They installed it. We never had really hot, hot water. Their technician told me, it must be something in my shower control knob. (He couldn't explain why we didn't get really hot water washing dishes either. Pro-Tec knew we did not reside in the condo, but used it for vacation visits during the winter months. The hot water heater was always turned off while we were gone, as was the water to the unit. On January 8th, 2016, when I left to return north, I saw staining in the pan, but no water when I felt the area of the stain. Since I felt no active leakage, I saw no need to call Pro-Tec. On February 23rd, 2016, I returned to Florida for a short visit. I had a flight to return north on Friday, February 26th. When I turned on the hot water heater and the water, I noticed there was standing water in the hot water heater's pan. I immediately called ProTec. They said they only warranty the heater for one year, and the year expired a few weeks before, on January 15th. (The heater itself has a 6 year manufacturer's warranty). They told me that had "no trucks" in Fort Myers. After several phone calls back and forth their bottom line position, after stating they checked with the company's owner, was: We do not service Fort Myers. When I reminded them that they had no problem taking $945.00 from me for the installation of the unit, the fellow speaking with me said he would check again. By this time, I had called other plumbers and the manufacturer, and knew that the situation required prompt replacement of the faulty unit before it failed completely potentially flooding. Pro-Tec finally agreed to "send someone out" to "see what the problem" was. I tried to make an appointment, but then he said he had no one available at any time during the days I would be in Florida. (?) I ended up having to call another plumber. It cost $1300.00 with $500.00 back from the manufacturer, eventually. (Separate transactions). Beware. read more
