I recently contacted this business to rent a PA package for a wedding we are performing at in the area. The wedding is on a Saturday so we are flying in late Friday and departing on Sunday. (We're from out of town) Not only do they not have any option of picking up or dropping off gear on weekends, the lady I spoke with on the phone was incredibly rude and short with me about it. I don't understand how an event rental company is not available on the weekends when that's when 99% of events are happening. I would not recommend this business. read more

This place has 5 stars for a reason. I called them months before my wedding to reserve a speaker and the guys here answered every question I had and gave me honest opinions regarding how many speakers I needed. I wanted 2 but they told me I didn't need 2 and should get 1. It could've been an opportunity for them to make a sale but they didn't, I respected that. On day of pickup they explained every detail of the items in full and were so friendly and polite. My mom returned the items the following Monday and said they greeted her knowing she was my mother! Always a delight to rent from. I have rented more than several times from them and have never been disappointed. Always more than happy with everything.. I'm at a point where if they where to jack their prices sky high I'd still be renting cause they make everything simple and hassle free, no matter what you get. If you have done professional recording or live sound, you know there are quite a few items needed in your kit to make it work. I needed exactly one such item. I called several music and equipment stores and none of them had it in stock. I needed it now, not in three days to a week. Pro Sound & Lighting had it. Their price was equivalent to Guitar Center, no "pro markup". And they were kind enough to put a battery into it to test it so I was sure it was good to go. The service person was very knowledgeable and we had a chance to talk shop, even at closing time. They have for sale and rent excellent lines of speakers, microphones, consoles, processors, digital snakes, cables and adaptors. A good source for fastfold projection screens. Their rental list is on the website. They have a small collection of Elvis Presley memorabilia, qualifying their Elvis Museum for the Odd Portland Museums List. What a great place! What great people! During these Covid days I was responsible for leading a memorial service outdoors at a cemetery, instead of the normal church service the family would have preferred. They set me up with all the gear I needed for the service... battery powered speaker, mike, all the cords... they made sure I knew how to set it all up (including syncing music from my iPhone) before I walked out the door. Their customer service is unparalleled, and they treat everyone equally no matter their experience level or project size. Review Update! I rented 2 powered speakers. When I showed up, I had packed my car too full of other gear (as I suspected) so I could only fit 1 speaker. I explained this but was still charged for both speakers and was told their policy was to only rent pairs. "We're completely rented out and people are calling and I'm telling them we have no speakers left" I was told. I'm honestly not that mad about that part because I'll write off the entire rental, I just seriously doubt that if someone called and asked for 1 speaker that I left there, they'd say "We have 1 speaker but you can't rent it." I also don't understand the "Rentals due back by Noon on Monday" policy. On one hand, I can see getting all your rentals back by Noon and then starting rental pick up at Noon for inventory purposes but from what I read in reviews, it seems like when people are late, they don't care. It's not terribly convenient to get rentals back by Noon on Monday for anyone with a day job. I get that you don't want people taking advantage of rentals but I think "having a job during the day" happens more frequently than "having a gig during the day" on Mondays. People probably aren't trying to squeeze a free Monday day rental out of you. Returning by EOB seems to be what I see at most other places I rent. Plus staggering returns is probably less stressful on the return staff and quicker on people dropping off. read more

Danny is the prime example of excellent customer service!! I was throwing a blacklight Boot Camp for the gym that I manage so I needed black lights... and lots of them! I didn't want to buy some so I came here. I was expecting to be talked down to like I'm stupid like most people do, especially to a young woman like me. Our DJ bailed on us a week before the wedding so we went into panic mode. We asked our venue location who they would recommend for sound equipment and they said here. We called and nice lady on the phone was so helpful and got us exactly what we needed for cheap!!! We picked it up the night before the wedding. It worked amazing the whole day! It was perfect! We used a laptop with it and our DJ/MC had zero issues with it all. It was even great with our piano. We dropped it off and they checked it all out. The guys were very nice! These guys are great. They have really high-end equipment, the rental fees are reasonable, and they just made my day. I rented a battery powered PA (top end K&M with wireless mic for about $50). Well I totally forgot to return it on the due day (I rented over the weekend). And instead of charging me a late fee plus another day rental fee (which would be fair), they told me that "these things happen" and didn't charge me a dime. I was perfectly ready to pay, as it was completely my mistake, but they told me they understood and that they appreciated me as a customer. Really generous. If they had had another reservation for it, they would have charged me, of course, but since they didn't, they just let it slide. I asked questions about and the clerk kept raising her voice, and then would say "I don't have anything to do with the contract", but did not offer to get me to someone who could help. Don't know much about sound and audio equipment, but I have to say this group seemed to know their stuff. They were very cooperative and organized when we cam to pick up the equipment. I think something may have been left off of our original pickup, but that was easily fixed. we picked up and delivered all the equipment back after the weekend was over. I stumbled upon Pro Sound and Lighting through the googles and called them at the last minute after my speech giver broke his ribs and didn't want to shout at a gathering for a birthday party celebration that was two days away. Not only did I NOT feel stupid for calling at the last minute, but Terrance worked with me on the exact length of cabling I would need for the size of speakers and space based on the size of gathering I was expecting. The pricing was beyond reasonable and I couldn't stop telling our guests about them because they made the entire process so approachable for someone like me who is as far removed from the biz as possible. When we picked up the equipment they ran us through a quick tutorial on how to set it up and offered to be available the next day by phone for any troubleshooting we may need (during business hours of course). Came in Friday and reserved one and they said I should be able to pick it up at 10 Saturday even though 12 is the usual pick up time. Mic worked well! Amazing service. We went with these guys for our audio rental needs for a wedding. They were helpful in telling us what exactly we needed and when we had to amend small aspects of the order. The kickass service part came later - when we forgot to return a couple of pieces of gear to them on time, they gave us two weeks to get our act together. Unfortunately, post wedding brain meant we still didn't get to it, and so they gave a gentle nudge and charged the card for the missing items all the while still saying that they'd really just rather have their gear back. Well, I finally got around to doing that 2+ weeks after the fact, and got a refund on the charges. Oh and all the gear worked great on the day of the event. Great experience, overall. read more
