I came in with a differential out of an old car and specifically asked, "can you rebuild this?" less than 5 minutes later it was destroyed beyond repair. Paul just hit the casting with a hammer and chisel and low and behold it broke, and he has the audacity to say I brought a weak part. It is cast steel, of course its weak, I even brought the shop manual, which he threw to the side, then broke it. I went outside to vent and came back in 2 minutes later and guess what, he's reading the manual. Maybe that should have been reviewed first? Then he says that I need to source out and purchase a replacement and he will do the work for free. Why would I go buy an extremely hard to find part and bring it back there for him to break again? One would assume that if you had a specialty shop you would have some specialized skill to do quality work. I'm assuming the only reason this shop is still in business is because no one else has a diff shop in the city, because anyone with some trade experience could make this place look like pretty foolish, even a first level apprentice knows that if they're not sure what to do, research it! read more
