When the "CHECK ENGINE" light came on in my Cadillac, an electronic scan detected two problems,…read moreP0741 and P1860. The car ran well, but the scan said the 'Torque Converter" and the "Torque Converter Solenoid" were not engaging correctly. Essentially what it meant was I had no 'overdrive' and I would lose about one mile per gallon in gas. I took the car to Mr Transmission on Pembina and after a test drive and a scan, the 'transmission re builder' Blair, told me that although the transmission had problems, I could still drive it in the city successfully. Five months later I planned to travel to BC and back so I decided to get the transmission repaired. But this time I went to 'Bob's Transmission'. I showed them the problematic codes P0741 and P1860. Their 'transmission re-builder' Brian, told me that he was experienced with these two codes, and they indicated further problems that would cost 'big bucks'. For just the solenoid and the torque converter I would have to pay $4500, and the seals and other things would be extra. I went back to see Blair at Mr Transmission on Pembina. He said he would rebuild the whole transmission from top to bottom for just $3500, give me a 36 month Warrantee and if I had any problems I could get my transmission serviced at any Mr Transmission center in North America. I told him to go ahead. The next day I dropped by to see how the work was progressing. Blair took me into the shop where I saw my car up on the hoist, with much of the undercarriage removed. He took me to my transmission which was totally apart and spread out on a workbench. He showed me where the two clutches were slipping, the burn marks, and the burnt out solenoid. It looked impossible to put back together. Four working days later my car was ready to go to BC and back dozens of times. They gave me a quote, stuck to it, and had my car ready on time. They even did some extra work at no extra charge. Getting a transmission repaired is sort of like going to the dentist. It is an overwhelming process and you need to trust and have faith in the technician. If you care about your car and want to make sure it serves you well for the long haul, then this is the place to get quality service at affordable prices. My 'in depth' research leads me to believe this is where you will find superior, honest, and friendly service. Their state-of-the-art computer technology and friendly service is your best source for quick and reliable transmission repair. I would definitely recommend Mr Transmission on Pembina Highway. Paul just hit the casting with a hammer and chisel and low and behold it broke, and he has the audacity to say I brought a weak part. It is cast steel, of course its weak, I even brought the shop manual, which he threw to the side, then broke it. I went outside to vent and came back in 2 minutes later and guess what, he's reading the manual. Maybe that should have been reviewed first? Then he says that I need to source out and purchase a replacement and he will do the work for free. Why would I go buy an extremely hard to find part and bring it back there for him to break again? One would assume that if you had a specialty shop you would have some specialized skill to do quality work. I'm assuming the only reason this shop is still in business is because no one else has a diff shop in the city, because anyone with some trade experience could make this place look like pretty foolish, even a first level apprentice knows that if they're not sure what to do, research it!

I'm not rating them with just 1 star because they were (grudgingly) willing to take the van back to fix the faulty repairs, and they had a loaner for us each time. That being said, I'll never use JB Transmission again.

Story Time! I took my mustang in for a transmission swap…read moreand rear gear swap. The transmission I bought for $1000 brand new 0 miles (got a good deal from ford employee). Mr. trans quoted around $1250 for the work to be done. I get a call saying one of the axles has pitting and needs to be replaced so I say sure. Get the car back and the rear brakes pull to one side and are wonky, pretty unsafe on the road. Take car back and complain about said brakes and they charge me to fix the brakes (which were fine before they touched it). Less than 2 days later I notice a whine coming from either the trans or diff so I call them and they say its just brake-in sounds. Drive out to the lake (about 130 km) and put the car on a hoist to check trans fluid level. THERE IS NONE! Mr. trans didn't replace the output shaft seal and all my trans fluid pissed out the back. Now I've got a brand new trans that needs a full rebuild due to their negligence. Thanks guys.
