I just happened upon Pro Barber college. This was a perfect place to take Dad to get a haircut. $9 for men $14 for women, they also do coloring. There were plenty of students ready to take on a client when we walked in. Dad was immediately directed to a chair and met his barber. Payment is due prior to the start of service. It took about 30-40 minutes. Dad's barber was friendly. I will definitely be bringing Dad back here when he is in need of another haircut. read more

Good place to get a haircut. I walked in and was immediately greeted and shown a chair / my student barber. I haven't had a real haircut at a shop in years so I was unfamiliar with the guard sizes / terminology. The teacher and student made sure to take their time to get exactly what I wanted. The teacher was supervising and answered any of the students questions. The hair cut took around 30- 45 minutes which is not a bad time at all considering I would wait 45 minutes just to see a barber at other "official" shops. The cut was $9 and I tipped the student $6 as I was very satisfied. This place is clean, has young passionate barbers, and good prices. read more

The experience of being in the classroom for the duration of my cut and trim was great. I also got a barbershop quality look. I certainly don't go into a student shop and expect a perfect look from someone with less than the thousands of hours of experience I pay for in a top shop. I started school in late October. I did a lot of research on different school which cost double the amount that pro barber charges. In the last two months I have learned a lot. Danny and Ray had helped me a lot. Danny is very hands on with it comes to teaching you how to fade. Danny has supervised me with each and every cut and provided me step by step on how to attack a haircut. Ray has taught me a lot about shear work which I had no clue about (learn that scissor work). Now I feel comfortable using my shears. Ray and Danny also do a good job going over the book (malady). I love when they show videos that helps me a lot when I'm Not at the school. read more

This school is a scam. They sell hours and have no one capable of educating you to get your barbering license. The owner well make up excuses on why you need to pay extra money so you can go to the Stateboard and take your test. More than likely, you'll be under investigation for your hours just like the dozens of other students in the same situation. The owner will either charge you 4000/6000 depending on how he feels on if you have money or not. Every month he'll make up some excuse on the state saying they added more to the curriculum but it's not true. I am owed money from the school and now enrolled into another school. Pretty much a year wasted and money as well. Time is money and if you're in a hurry to get your barbering licenses, don't go here. Hours are non transferable as well. Go to a legitimate school. Raymond was just awesome. He was not only pleasant, respectful and the best barber ever. The boss Nancy, however, was extremely rude and walked around with a face cold as ice like she wanted to stab everyone she saw. People working there said that she was nasty and acted as such everyday so watch out. This review was solely for Raymond and another male Hispanic student there. I went to this school to become a barber. It took me a little over 10 months to complete and I feel that this school not only prepared me to cut in a shop it also prepared me to pass the pretty rigid California barber exam. Brian was my instructor and I only wish I had more time to absorb tips from this master barber. This school costs less than half of what the next cheapest barber school in LA does so it is far from flashy but it gets the job done and like in Rocky 3 sometimes it is better to train under difficult circumstances to make you better. Was it hot in the summer? Yes. Was it cold in the winter? Yes. Is my barber license as good as someone who paid $20k for it? Yes. As far as a customer going here to get their haircut I couldn't recommend it more. If you have the time the barbers are really focusing on details and will give really clean haircuts for $5. Shaves are free and the students can really use the practice so take an afternoon off and pamper yourself for $5. Ps tips aren't mandatory but always appreciated especially since most of the students are balancing work and school to get their license. A $5 tip + a $5 cut and you are still below the price of a standard haircut at any shop. read more

I find the instructors to be extremely helpful because they are always there for you when you have questions or anytime you need them, and I like the way they break down everything step by step. I graduated from here and passed the state board exam on my first attempt. Tuition for barber school is approaching $15k at most schools in CA. Here you can go for $5k and cheaper if you can pay in full upfront. They do not provide typical classroom instruction but have the flexibility if you have a job and can't attend every day or if your schedule varies. There are also several talented barbers completing their hours so you can get a great cut for just $5. If you are self motivated and are looking for a school this is a good match. If you require a little more attention, instruction and structure this place is not for you. If your coming for a cut keep in mind that this is a school not a shop. This is an interesting barber shop nestled in the Hamilton Adult center in Torrance. They could use better signs or billboards but my review is not about their marketing. I came in for a trim and the student listened and went to work. About a half hour later my hair was done (perfect) and he even lined up the back with a razor!!! I like the fact that these students are serious abuout their craft and it really shows. I saw a couple of guys getting that old school full face shave and if I had more time I would have stayed for one. If you're tired of designer barber shops charging 40 bucks for a cut or if you're tired of the salon, I recommend this college because the students are legit and have skills!! read more

If I could give a 0 I would. Signed up for this class and since its covid, its on zoom. Sat on there over an hour with classmates signed up and no one on the class, no instructor either! I contacted the director wanting to know what was going on, there's no class. She proceeds to say there are two instructors. I'm looking right at the screen where my son is signed in - there are NO instructors. She calls the instructor and he pops into the screen of his camera, phone must be nearby. Hear the whole conversation online, and afterward he proceeds to talk crap about my son and myself, about where the hell do I get off telling him how to teach this class, he'll start when he feels like it. What kid is this, who the hell does he think he is? Among many other degrading statements about us. Mind you other students although signed in and no video apparently have their sound on too - and start chiming in talking crap about us! This went on for 10 minutes. I was so shocked and upset that I should have recorded this jerk, but I couldn't even process what was happening and how unprofessional this school was! Not even one day and this is what we got!!!! I paid for this class in full upfront the day before and cancelled immediately after this treatment. Then they refused to give us the full amount stating a registration fee is non-refundable. I don't care if its non-refundable or not, you owe me my money after the way your instructor behaved and proving yourself unprofessional and degrading us online before the whole class. Oh - he didn't know his mike was on she says! Really? How was he having a discussion about with the other students. And the students admitted that they sign in whenever they want and if they're signed in they go about their business until whenever this instructor basically decides to teach something. Basically, sign in black out your screen and collect your hours!!! This school owes my my $100 back and an apology which they have refused to do. They are a false crappy instructing school. Just collect hours and study for the state exam, learning nothing in between to get a license. Shameful! read more
