In my OEC statement, I reported that a 21 year old senior in BFA drawing and painting student, Dana. she told me to "go back to where you came from" and "act your age". I also documented that she and her friends laughed at my walk, which is affected by my disability. The deeper issue was how the department responded. Faculty and conduct administrators minimized the evidence I provided and labeled me the bully, even though I reported feeling intimidated and unsafe in my academic spaces. Their avoidance and favoritism created a culture where harmful behavior continued without accountability. I also stated that I had to block multiple Instagram accounts connected to the same student, Dana, because I believed she was using social media to monitor me and spread false narratives. The same attention‑seeking and elitist behavior appeared in campus art spaces, including a performative "Filipino Instagram group page" online, while bullying Filipino students in person. a pattern of narrative‑shaping for likes, followers, and visibility rather than genuine community. Even in Gallery spaces, Kleefeld Contemporary Art Museum settings, Dana's behavior showed up as attention‑seeking, exclusionary commentary, and inconsistent art technique paired with high social‑media performance. The environment felt more about online image than actual artistic growth. Because of the hostile peer behavior and the department's failure to intervene, I cannot recommend the Drawing & Painting program. CSU policy aside, Dana's behavior shows a classic status‑defense pattern inflating her "high school grad" identity while bullying transfer students to protect her fragile competence. As for CSULB... not something I'd recommend to my fellow CC transfers.

At first, they were going to set a chair out for me, but then the tone shifted. They started asking what I needed, and shortly after, told me they wouldn't be able to take me--despite it being over an hour before closing. I have very low hair, no longer than a #2 guard, so I was surprised they turned me away for something so simple. For a barber school, I was shocked there was only one student working and no sense of professionalism--especially from the instructor. I honestly feel sorry for that student. I even called ahead of time to avoid this exact situation, and I don't appreciate having my time wasted and leaving without a haircut. If you're looking for a better experience, I highly recommend the Mastery Academy off of Orange. They're half the price, have a full staff, and the environment is friendly and welcoming. I arranged childcare and missed work for this appointment. When I arrived, the front desk staff (not the person who booked me) realized there had been no communication about needing to wash and blow-dry my hair before braiding. I explained that Nancy had never informed me of this, and thankfully the front desk kindly honored the original quoted price. After my hair was washed and blow-dried by Christina, we were about to start braiding when Nancy stormed in and abruptly demanded that the service stop until I paid extra for the wash and blow dry. She was loud, rude, and dismissive -- even putting her hand in my face when I tried to explain the miscommunication. She told me not to speak because she was "talking to her student, not me." She then touched my hair and began making discriminatory comments about its length and thickness, saying that it would "cost more" but refusing to give me an exact price. Instead of resolving the issue, she escalated it, argued, and ultimately instructed the student to stop the service entirely. When I asked for her supervisor, she claimed she was the boss and the supervisor, blocking any accountability -- until I insisted and was finally able to speak to the actual administrator, who was kind and understanding. This unnecessary conflict wasted 25 minutes of my appointment, leaving the students pressed for time and forcing my service to be cut down to 2 braids instead of the 4 I had booked. I want to be clear: the students and instructors were professional, kind, and compassionate throughout this. The only problem was Nancy Lopez. Her behavior was unprofessional, hostile, and completely unacceptable in an educational or customer-facing environment. I will be reporting her to the board for her conduct. If you book services here, please know the students are talented and respectful, but the administration -- at least under Nancy Lopez -- is another story.

I went to their website and registered for the June course, paid the $250 fee, and only then noticed I had been enrolled in the May session instead. I never even viewed the May option, and this all happened within two minutes. I immediately registered again this time correctly for the June course. Since it was late at night, I couldn't call right away, but I contacted the school the next day to explain the situation and request a refund for the mistaken May enrollment. The woman I spoke with was incredibly rude, dismissive, and repeatedly blamed me, refusing to even hear me out. She said it's my fault and that it's none refundable and that I singed it. She made it clear that they wouldn't help. So, I had no choice but to dispute the charge with my bank. Then today, I received an email saying I was being refunded for the June class the one I actually wanted and was told I'm no longer welcome at their school for making a false dispute which is not true. Meanwhile, three of my friends registered with me, and after hearing about this experience, they've decided to go elsewhere. So congratulations you kept $250, but lost four students.
