Don't send your kids here. I am a parent and I've held my tongue for a while because my child…read moreenjoyed their lessons, but I have about had it. If you want your child to have a proper music education, send them anywhere else. You would probably be better watching YouTube tutorials. I think the issues stem from the top down. They are nickel and diming everyone, and the quality of work isn't worth the price. I can't tell you how many teachers my kid has had, and no they don't tell you. My child has gotten attached to three teachers only for them to never return. Front desk staff also turns over far too often. I've heard anecdotally from other parents that they do not treat their staff properly. I think the turnover rate speaks for itself. And the replacement teachers are young, clueless, and don't know their right hand from their left. Issues of racism and ableism are also an open secret. But I can't put up with this any longer. I have heard of multiple instances from parents about mistreatment or black and autistic children (and their families). I know the front desk refused to look a black mother in the eye. Anyway, I pulled my child out several weeks ago. I reccomend any parent looking for lessons to go anywhere else.

I know the theatre offers other classes and here is the website for more information: http://www.southerndancetheatre.com/. Be sure to wear sneakers and bring a bottle of water if you are interested. Every class feels like a beginning, but it gets easier over time since most of the moves are repetitive. You will be pumping sweat from your body....aawwweeee! ;)

Except for the nice friendly phone conversation and initial welcome, we received none of the above regarding our 7 year old daughter. And to be fair, many of the competitive parents and kids seemed to like the environment.

This is a full dance school that offers: Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Pas De Deux, Lyrical, Tap, Hip-Hop, Flamenco, Modern Dance, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Drama, Piano, Guitar, Violin, and Voice. The faculty is certified and have led professional careers in their respective areas of creative expertise. They begin laying a foundation from the preschool years all the way to young adulthood. And they have both female and male students. They also offer an AfterSchool program and work your child's classes at a mutually suitable schedule. I also look forward to their professionally-mounted recitals every year.
