Before any materials were ordered or work began, we submitted the required application to our HOA for approval. Unfortunately, the HOA denied the request and would only approve a black metal fence. As soon as I received the denial, I contacted Fence Mall and explained the situation. Since I specifically wanted a vinyl fence, I decided not to move forward with the project and requested my deposit back. They agreed to refund it, but told me they would keep 35% of my deposit as a cancellation fee. $600 To my knowledge, no materials had been ordered and no installation work had started because everyone was waiting for the HOA's decision. Despite that, they kept approximately $600 from my deposit. I understand that businesses need cancellation policies, but charging such a large fee before any materials were purchased or work was performed is unfair. I was unable to proceed due to circumstances outside of my control, and I don't believe keeping hundreds of dollars in this situation is reasonable. Specially with todays economy I hope Fence Mall reconsiders how it handles situations like this, because it left me feeling like I paid $600 for absolutely nothing. Corners were cut, details were overlooked, and the final result was an incomplete fence with panels and gates installed backward, along with other bent or damaged pieces requiring multiple repairs that was not resolved in a single return visit. The foreman, Gerardo, was rarely on-site, communication was difficult, and I had to follow up for over five weeks to get the job completed correctly. Owner Gio also failed to follow through on commitments made to address our concerns. When investing in a fence, quality matters for long-term integrity and durability of the installation. Based on the poor workmanship, lack of supervision, and the need for repeated follow-up to correct issues, I strongly DO NOT recommend this company.

TL/DR: Most professional contractor I've ever worked with…read more All the details: I've recently purchased a second home in Mount Dora, and got a terrible shock when my insurance agent called and informed me that the insurance inspector & underwriter determined that lattice around the crawlspace was not acceptable, and that I had 3 weeks to enclose with brick, stone, or hardiboard or they were going to cancel my insurance. Mint Construction had completely renovated the house prior to my purchasing it, and it is a showpiece! Since I was so happy with the quality of the renovation, I spoke with Jim Malak, and asked him to provide me an estimate for the required work. He asked some follow up questions, such as what exactly the insurance company required, and could he get a copy of the inspection report because he didn't understand why this was required - after all, the house met all building codes, including Florida windstorm requirements. Here's where the amazing customer service shines through: Mr. Malak then called the insurance company to plead my case - it didn't make any sense as to why the work was required. Then, he offered a potential alternative to try to save me money, but the underwriters wouldn't accept that either. When have you EVER had a contractor take that kind of effort on your behalf? But it gets better: work was completed quickly, and well. And then he notified the insurance agent that the work was completed so that they could take their pictures & document that the required work had been done. I knew the quality of work before I hired Mint Construction; but the customer service is just hands down amazing.
