They said no problem, just be here before 3:15 p.m.. Not even 5 minutes later the office called me back & refused to see Stormy (13 year old shih tzu) because he is old & is too sick to be able to see him. We were 5 minutes away by this time. I was crushed. Stormy is really not well & they refused to see us, even with an appt. We would have been there by 3:10 p.m. This after my regular vet couldn't see us in a timely manner so they referred us to the Carling Animal Clinic. The Carling Animal Hosptial tried to send us to the Ottawa Veterinary Clinic at Carling, but they charge 2x the $! How could they refuse to see my dog because he's old & has too many symptoms?! It's unethical & unprofessional to say the least. If they did it to me, they will do it to others.

I immediately picked him up and was shocked to see A DEEP HOLE in his right eye. It was swollen almost shut and covered in pus. I couldn't believe how bad his eye was and that no one had called us! We rushed him to the animal hospital where we were told that the cut was so deep he needed to see a specialist. He was obviously in a great deal of pain so the hospital had to give him pain killers while we waited. He had emergency surgery today which cost us $4000 and there is no guarantee he won't lose his right eye. The doctor confirmed that this had happened several days prior and had been getting worse. I am outraged that no one did anything while he was in their care. Photos taken show that his eye was obviously infected days prior and no communication was given to us or his emergency contact. Do yourself a favour and book somewhere else. Even though management refunded us for his stay, the mistreatment and neglect of animals like this is not okay.

Found a tick on my dog and panicked as I could not find our tick key. Arrived at the clinic 5 mins later, no pets in the waiting room, clinic rooms or coming in the door. The 3 vet techs and receptionist said they could not help me, gave me a tick key, pointed me to a bathroom and told to follow instructions. I was told to flush it when done, that nobody does testing on ticks anymore. My dog did not get any free cookies but ‍ I phoned another clinic and said I was a patient at another clinic and asked for information on ticks and treatments. I was told that I should get her tested after 6 weeks to be sure she does not have Lyme or any other diseases from it, as proteins would be present at that time. I am completely furious at the lack of service, compassion and out right not caring about my pet. I am searching for a new vet ( taking suggestions) however Greenbank animal hospital will NOT be getting anymore of my business as they OBVIOUSLY do not care about the health of their patience!!!

The only issue we've ever had was one of my cat's teeth was broken during a cleaning and had to be extracted. Fortunately they did not charge me for the extraction and were very apologetic. Still it was a shock to find out what has happened. My cat is not the worse for wear and has suffered no lasting effects as the broken tooth was a rear molar. I have been bringing my cats to Dr. Hughes for years and will continue to for as long as they live.
