On a recent visit to Sardinia, our local friends took us to this place to enjoy a "typical Sardinian meal." I can't imagine eating like this all the time -- there was so much food, and it was so delicious! I would have a hard time recounting all of the courses (had I not photographed them all!), but the most memorable one was a roasted suckling pig. Other flavors abounded -- eggplant and zucchini in a pot-pie type pastry shell, more meats & cheeses than I can recount, baked potato dumplings, chickpea spread, black rice, bell peppers, marmalades, and baked cheese with honey for the dessert. All of this was accented by a terrific red wine. This was also the first time that I tried mirto, a traditional Sardinian liqueur that is both a dessert wine and a digestive aid.
