Although I'd read many negative reviews on Princess Nails, I went here recently as I had nowhere else that could do my nails stat and I truly like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Sadly, the reviews were accurate: It took this gentleman a good thirty minutes longer than others to complete the same service, his drill got hot and burned me, he CUT me once with his file, and my nails looked horrible. To make matters worse, the top coat he used created an opaque, dull appearance on what was a striking color and when asked about it, he said that's just how it is. NOT! He then told me I owed him EIGHTY FIVE dollars for his service! I generally pay between $50.00-$60.00 tops and that's with excellent results. I told him that was very high and he lowered it to $75. I left but after looking at my nails several times knowing I couldn't possibly tolerate them until my next fill or pay someone else to fix them, I went back to him, shared my dissatisfaction, and insisted he make them right. After spending yet another 30 minutes having him drill off the top coat and reapply a newer clear coat, I left with so-so nails, curious as to how this establishment stays in business. I laughed thinking they should rename their business from Princess Nails to Pauper Nails. Needless to say I'm I will not be returning! read more

I was in a bind to get my nails done before leaving on vacation. I called ahead and David answered and said to come on over. The location is convenient and was nice inside. He was very friendly and I asked for an almond shaped full set with gel. They came out amazing! He is an excellent nail tech. I highly recommend him. David was the absolute sweetest and kindest nail tech I've met in a while. I called last minute they were set to close in like 30 mins but he told me to come on in. I got a pedicure and I was explaining to him how the last place really messed up my actual toenails because he saw how thin it was. He was so easy to talk to and he listened to my concerns and fixed my nails the way I like with no complaints or problems. His wife even called when he was still working on my feet to let him know dinner was ready and he still never rushed. I called here at 4pm to make an appointment for my friend and I to get a fill and David took us at 5:30 and did a great job! He is hilarious and very friendly and he really made my nails pop! I was looking for a place that does holographic nails and this place has sooooooo many options for colors. A fill and and gel polish was only $35! The last place I went to, I got a fill and just regular polish for $40, and the place I went before THAT charged $50 for a full set and regular polish. Coming from San Diego, I'm used to pretty expensive prices but I thought it would be a bit cheaper up here in Arcata. I want to start by saying the man that did my nails was very nice. However, the color I wanted wasn't available and he used a color that wasn't brown but more like a purple that looks more black than brown. I went in wanting gold and brown, but came out with black nails somehow. My fault for not changing the color and that's on me. Also, before he painted my nails he asked me for a form of payment and I thought that was strange. I wouldn't say it was worth $50. The nail polish wasn't put on correctly and my nails smell like chemicals. I want to add that when I went in he said it would only take 45 minutes. I was there for close to TWO HOURS. For being there that long and being charged $50 wasn't worth it to me. I'm actually going to have to take the nails off tonight because of the smell and the nail polish is already peeling off. Let me start out by saying the man that did my nails was very nice and talkative, but i will not be going back her for acrylics. I paid $55 for a set of nails that was done very poorly and not worth the price. My nails hurt do to the incorrect tips being put on them, the shape that I got was not the shape I requested (not even in the same category I was looking for), no polish was put on my nails (used color tips). I had to go to the store to buy supplies to make my nails presentable enough for the evening. The acrylic was done very poorly, uneven and left lumpy and not filed down. the edges of the nails were very sharp and needed to be shaped. I really like this place! David is very attentive. If you tell him exactly what you want he will make sure you leave happy. My favorite thing about coming here is that he can almost always get me in the same day, often right away or within a couple hours of when I call. He has even stayed late to get me in for a fill before! That kind of service is hard to find, especially around here. I feel really bad even posting this review but the guy butchered my nails. Do not go here to get your natural nails done with gel, all his polish is old and dried out and he tries to use polish thinner to make it work, but the next day the polish was all cracked down to the nail and it caused my nail to break that I had been growing out for months. Maybe he's better at acrylics but DO NOT GO HERE if you are wanting to get your real nails done. Like I'm truly Sorry I can tell you're having a hard time but if you can't afford to get nail polish that actually works maybe just tell people that before they get their nails done by you, like only offer to do acrylics if that's all you can actually do right. Also he charged me 110$ for the shittiest mani pedi ive ever gotten in my life. Other place only charges me 80 for doing the same thing but doing it RIGHT so that it lasts for 2 weeks not 1 day. So sorry for having to leave a bad review like this(which I've never even done) but I've been thinking about how he destroyed my nails for weeks, and it really bummed me out and was such a waste of money. Oh ya and the whole reason I went in there( I used to do my own nails at home) was because I wanted help getting the gel polish off from my previous mani without damaging my nails, the other places I've been use a little tool to grind it off. Instead, He had me soak my nails in like pure acetone, it burned my skin, hurt my throat and eyes and I believe it weakened and damaged my nails. I would just say... If you are quoted a price over the phone have him requote the price in person. We were told $35 for acrylics when the appt was made and the charged $65. We were also told a kids nail was $18 and then charged $25. My nails are already breaking off. They are uneven and they look like I need a fill after just a couple of days. He may be friendly and kind, but he is just looking for a quick dollar! Wants you to pay top dollar for crap quality. How about you invest in your business and THEN ask those prices. Probably to pay for his equipment that doesn't work and dirty work space. My nails are the shortest that they can go and all I do is an overlay then shellac. No tip, no shaping. This is also the first time I've ever been asked if 'I want a manicure' while getting this done-trying to make more money. I think that if you're paying for an overlay and shellac that the manicure part should come along with it, being that all you do is use the drill on your natural nail...it's already a part of the process. I've been getting this done for years in numerous cities and have never been asked to pay $80 for the shortest nails. Pedicure water was COLD, chair was broken. Only way to get hot water is from the kettle he had to keep refilling to pour in the foot spa. Sorry-not relaxing. And no one else was in the shop while I was getting this done so I assume the other chairs are broken too. I left after a cold pedicure, painted toes that didn't look very nice & said no to getting my nails done after handing him $30 and seeing that he wasn't doing a very good job on my nails. He said he was allergic to gel powder and couldn't get my old gel off. What a headache read more
