The owner of this company David Prince lacks complete professionalism. We bought a 700K house recently that he installed for the builder an irrigation system at. We are building a pool and when after a week of attempting to contact him we found out that his company purposely ran the water main and control wiring exactly in the middle where a pool would go. When I asked him about this, he said oh well we install all of them that way. He laughed at my wife and I when we told him we were building a pool and said no one builds pools, so just let the pool guys destroy the irrigation system. Basically my take away from that is I would have to call him after the pool was completed and pay 2K+ to have it repaired. Some careful desinging and layout would help avoid this issue, however I have learned this is the way he conducts his business. I would give David Prince and Prince Irrigation a negative number if it was possible. Lastly I will be filing a formal complaint with the state and anyone else who has a similar experience I would recommend you do as well. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. TRUST THE POOR REVIEWS! If I could give this company zero stars, I would. They were sub contractors for our new home build but 6 months later, after the irrigation system no longer worked, they were extremely difficult to get in touch with. When they finally did come to our home to assess the situation, they informed me that they would contact me the next day with an estimate. That never happened. My husband had to repeated call and email them. They were rude and unprofessional In their response to him. The estimate to fix the irrigation system was going to be over $2k. $2k+ to fix something we didn't break. Terrible, terrible service. read more

We had been customers of this company for several years. Their work seemed to be fine, but very expensive. However they have become completely unresponsive to phone calls and messages. After a month of calling, we finally gave up and called another company. When they finally did respond and we told them we were going with someone else... they responded, "Haha ok good luck". If you're considering hiring Prince Irrigation, strongly consider the reviews that indicate that they don't return phone calls and that they are focused on new construction. That has been our experience exactly. We had a very good experience working with them when building our home, including planning for a pool to be installed after the home build. We asked them to assess why sprinklers weren't working this spring. They did visit and found that the electrical line had been cut by the pool builder. Said they'd get an estimate to us the next day. I emailed (because phone calls have never been returned) and had an exchange that, in a nutshell, told me they weren't interested in our business. In response to my email, they said that the sprinkler system needed to be revamped to accommodate the pool and it would cost at least $2,100. They also said it would be a while to get to us because they are "beholden" to the homebuilders. I asked them to call me and explain because we were led to believe that the sprinklers were ok as installed. They responded that "it's a lot more than reconnecting a wire" and that they tell all homebuilders and homeowners that a pool is "a significant process but that's not usually what they want to hear." After I asked again for clarification, they said they were sorry I was confused but not much can be done to plan for a pool. "It is what it is." I told them, again, that we were led to believe that it would be fine. Their response, "We did no such thing sir." I asked for a phone call and explanation but got an argument about a conversation that happened a year ago from someone who wasn't involved in the conversation. Find another company. sadly, we had sprinkler problems and called for over 2 months and never heard ONE WORD BACK. when I finally got a call back, there was no acknowledgment of my 15 messages I'd left. nothing. incredibly disappointing service. even if they were booked or were busy, they should have called back. one phone call takes 3 minutes. read more

Clarification: I purchased my home roughly 6 months after Prince had installed the sprinkler system from the previous owner. Which they did not live in the house, as it was a complete re-model job. I was given all the paperwork on the irrigation system for my records. I carefully worded this in my review, so as not to falsely claim I personally had them install the system. The facts are simple: My irrigation system was installed in 2014 by Prince, and since I own the home, it's my system. But no, I did not hire them. They in fact did not charge me to come out to do an estimate on my re-install job, although they said they would, I just never received a bill... And I don't remember, nor is it written anywhere on the estimate, them stating I would have to have this job done within a certain window of time in order to be serviced. Apologies for the gender mistake, as the person I spoke to on the phone sounded like a woman. However, being rude and short with customers, repetitively, is most likely the reason they feel compelled to express any negative opinions publicly. Otherwise, a review may not have felt necessary. read more

I just met with Mr. Prince (John).... seriously the sweetest, nicest and most personable man. He sat and talked with me about my landscaping needs for at least 30 minutes. It was an absolute pleasure meeting and talking with him. I'm not sure why all the bad reviews but my experience has been awesome! Please give them a chance. read more

We are current residential customers of Prince. It's mid-July, system won't turn on, grass is turning brown and Prince won't answer the phone or return calls after 2 weeks of trying/leaving a few msgs. Very disappointed and they have officially lost our business. Sad, as we've been satisfied in the past. I understand it's the busy season but hire enough staff to service your existing clients; at least answer the phone. read more

I'm disappointed in this company. My neighbor had used them so I asked for them to look at my yard. They were too busy but said I should call in the winter and they would have a discounted price too. When I called later They never returned my calls. I will not try them again after reading the other reviews. I'd rather plan and dig it myself. read more

I have used Prince Irrigation for years. I call them out whenever I accidentally bust up my irrigation system (e.g., I break an irrigation pipe while digging in my flowerbeds), or when something major just fails on its own (e.g., one of the pumps goes out). They have always shown up on the day they said that they would, and they have always been able to quickly diagnose and fix any individual issue in a way that is effective and lasting. I continue to have them fix things that I think are too much hassle to do myself, and I'm glad that they have been reliable in running their business and fixing these issues for me. Unfortunately, while they are deft hands at any individual irrigation fix, their work sometimes misses things or leaves unfinished bits. One time I had them out to do a "spring-time checkup" and right after the worker left I went out and did my own checkup. He fixed five or six sprinkler risers/heads while he was there, but after he left I still had to fix another four myself that maybe he missed, or that maybe subsequently failed because of the increased pressure after he fixed those other issues. Regardless, the job wasn't completely done. Another time I had them switch out my controller. The worker guessed it would be $150-200, but his guesstimate didn't account for another $100 for extra station modules which was a surprise when I got the bill. And to top it off, he failed to firmly attach the controller to the drywall so it was very wobbly. I understand that he's not a carpenter or handy-man, but sloppy work is sloppy work. I had to take the controller down, remove the drywall mounts that were barely connected to the drywall, patch the drywall, etc etc. So I recommend Prince Irrigation, but they could do better. read more

I called for an estimate for corrections to my existing system and additions. Once the guy on the other end looked up my address he told me that he had put the system in originally. I indicated to him that the code must have changes in the past 8 years because most of the water was landing on the sidewalk. He immediately told me that he was not interested in giving me quote. I ended up with a guy who worked for prince years ago. Needless to say, we both had a similar opinion of his work quality. read more

I'm not sure this company is in business anymore. I had a sprinkler system they installed & about a month later received a phone call looking for my mailing address. I had three previous repairs & received a bill with the correct address. I then received a bill and initiated payment the same day. I then received another "second notice" a day later. (????). This bill had the wrong zip code. (???) I made repeated calls & left messages to follow up because the payment was received by the company but check not cashed. I've made multiple calls recently but the phone is picked up and hung up. It appears the business is no longer open. Sad that there is no available company contact. read more

After 40 years of watering lawns with hose, blood, sweat and tears... Finally! I have an automated sprinkler system. I wanted the best and price is still something I had to consider. I had multiple bids and encounters with other business owners, but none provided me the unquestionable confidence in the job being promised and delivered as Mr. Prince. Not only was there no doubt he has the experience but gave a firm no b.s. quote. The design and layout is truly masterful and genius. I have an odd shaped property and it took 8 full zones and strategic planning to get coverages and nothing is left off. The sprinkler guys installing the system took care to disturb as little as possible of my existing lawn and went above and beyond my expectations and generally mine are ridiculously high. The technology and simplicity of having the Wi-Fi Rachio controller and phone application made being a first time sprinkler an effortless learning curve. It's so smart it checks the weather forecasts, sets scheduled watering and displays future calendar of days watering. If you're considering sprinkler installation, trust the Prince family. I have used Prince Irrigation for one year and they have been very helpful. As a first time sprinkler system owner I was a little unsure of how to adjust and fine tune my new system. After a quick phone call they were out the next day or two to make all the adjustments I needed and show me how it was done so I could make changes myself. Zero stars for customer service is what I would like to leave. Mr Prince showed no concern for me when I politely rescheduled a couple of times as I was told a time for my appointment t but no one came so I had to go to work. When I attempted to reschedule he snidely remarked maybe we should try every day this week. He also accused me of having ruts in my yard and that's how the sprinklers got broke. I had no ruts and was offended by his accusations and condescending attitude so I politely said maybe I will just call someone else, which he replied, that would be great. No way to treat your customers. On the original instal, they put the sprinkler heads directly under my gutter spouts so I had already had them come and move them. I will not recommend this company nor ever use them again. This is a small town and reputation is everything. Clearly his reputation is taking a hit due to poor customer service. read more

Horrible customer service. Technician did not arrive at expected time of 8:00 am. When I called to find out when he would be here, I was told that I was mistaken about when we were scheduled. He (the owner, David Prince) told me that they "never, never, ever" give an exact time to be at a job. When I asked for the range of times, he told me that it would be sometime in the afternoon. Since my husband works nights, he sleeps during the afternoon, so I told him that we would not have scheduled it for the afternoon. His response was to tell me to find someone else! We had waited almost two weeks to have this service done and this guy was nothing but rude and unaccommodating. Mr. Prince is not prince! Apparently, he has enough business that he can afford to be offensive. Not for long. read more
