The staff is generally nice but overworked. Several slips in care occurred but one was unacceptable and caused me long term problems. One night my Dad needed help going to the bathroom and no one came. After 3 hours, he couldn't hold it anymore and wet himself in the bed. When the morning staff came in, he was wallowing in pee. The experience was obviously humiliating. Devastating to his long term care needs, he now refuses to be " put in a home" and will only return to his house. He will not even consider places outside The Moorings.

The staff, nurses, CNAs, therapists, social workers, food service workers and activities directors have all been outstanding. A special shout out to Alex, an extraordinary CNA and Carolyn, the hardest working nurse I have ever met. There is constant activity, delicious food, attentive nursing, and great advocacy. I have visited a lot and gotten to know the staff personally. They treat my mother with respect and dignity even when she was very incapacitated when she first arrived. They are all doing everything they can to help my mom get stronger and to make her stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. The PT and OT and Speech therapy she has received has been top notch. The wider facility is available for my mother's use, including the salon, a snack shack and even a restaurant (though we haven't gone to the restaurant as the food here is great). I visited quite a few facilities before making the decision to go with the Moorings and I know that they are a full step above the other options.

My sister Sandra moved into Chestnut Square at The Glen in August of 2023. We had done quite a bit…read moreof research and looked at three or four other communities in the region that were nice, but we ultimately chose Chestnut for a variety of reasons. First and foremost were the staff and residents. They were all some of the warmest and friendliest people I've ever met. Not only were they warm and friendly but extremely helpful and very competent, as well as accommodating. The food was excellent, and the entire building was very clean, well-maintained, and quite attractive. There was plenty of programming and amenities both at Chestnut Square, as well as a short walk away in The Glen Town Center. Just across the street is a beautiful natural area with paved paths, a lake, shops, and plenty of places to explore. During her time at Chestnut Square, Sandra made many close friends and even developed a wonderful, close, and fulfilling romantic relationship with another resident who lived down the hall. The most important thing, however, was the dedication the staff had toward the happiness and fulfillment of all the residents. It really showed how happy everyone was in the community. Pretty amazing! When Sandra's health declined and she needed more assistance, Chestnut Square was able to provide additional on-site support through its phenomenal sister affiliate, Partners in Healthcare. The caregivers from Partners treated her and her loved ones like they were their own family. This was all available in Sandra's original apartment with a very thoughtful aging-in-place model, so she wouldn't need to transfer to another floor or facility. The care was exceptional, providing her with warmth, dignity, and respect. It comes as no surprise that Chestnut Square (a non-profit organization) is driven by their dedication to residents as well as staff--who all seem to really enjoy working there. Our entire experience with Chestnut Square was wonderful and provided the whole family with tremendous peace of mind!

I am so glad i chose to move her when i did. I have progressed to needing a walker and 12hrs a day private caregivers. Both are accommodated enthusiastically here. I know that this residential community has extended my life actively. The activity calendar offers something for mind, body, and spirit every day. Location is the best with shopping and medical care within a mile or two. The decor and residential suburban settings is superb. As is the residence itself. If you need it come join our club. The Vi At The Glen is gorgeous, comfortable, provides high-quality dining options, a beauty salon…read moreand other amenities, and features an in-house Care Center with a truly outstanding staff to assist with its residents' ongoing medical care, and its cost of entry reflects that...and I would normally give it a 5-star review for all of those things. Unfortunately, at least an our case, the administration failed to honor their multiple promises to *ALWAYS* keep our Mom's family members up-to-date on her progress. Despite multiple requests for details, they refused to give us any, and we found out that they had made the decision to both put our Mom into the Care Center *AND TO REFUSE TO ALLOW HER TO MOVE BACK IN TO HER APARTMENT* only *AFTER* they had done so. I can think of few things more unethical, immoral, indecent, and counter to every single positive aspect of the Vi than for the administration to unilaterally move a resident into the Care Center and prevent her from moving back into her apartment without informing her children at all, let alone after promising and assuring us multiple times that we would be notified right away if her status there was *EVER* at risk of changing. I initially planned to NOT recommend that anyone put their loved ones in a position where the administration of the facility could unilaterally move their loved ones into the Care Center and prevent them from moving back into their apartment without notice, but I realize that not everyone in a corrupt administration stays in their position forever; thus my context-specific recommendation of Maybe. My advice? If considering having your loved ones move into the Vi At The Glen, you should first insist that the administration sign a document stating their obligation to *ALWAYS* and *IMMEDIATELY* keep your loved one's family members apprised of any change in status and the reasons therefore so no one else has to suffer the way the administration made us suffer upon discovering their cowardly subterfuge regarding our Mom (and if they won't do so, then our firsthand experience suggests that you should *RUN* in the opposite direction). No one should have to ever be put through the emotional wringer we were put through by the unfathomable callousness of the current Vi administration, and to be clear, my 1-star review reflects only that aspect of our experience with the Vi At The Glen.

Although Vi's Assisted living was to isolate residents, in the long run, it kept most safe under extremely trying circumstances. I may not have been pleased but in retrospect, I do not know what VI could have done better without risking greater safety concerns for residents. I am thankful that my Mother was there and reasonably taken care of, with moderate dimentia, during that time. She is now 96 and still kicking!
