Not only do I recommend Primo VIP, we will definitely come again. We want to experience The Road to Hana. After reading about the meandering narrow road, the one lane bridges, the countless curves, we decided to take a tour with a guide. Our hotel concierge recommended Primo VIP. We booked it. Tuesday morning seven AM sharp we were greeted by David. Now, we've been around and we've experienced many places on this blue planet. We've been taken places by tour guides before. But this was different. The Chevy Suburban was spotless, AC was on, drinks were offered. But David was the star of the road trip. A great personality with Aloha mentality who showed, explained, asked, answered and in general was present through the day. David was the best. If you're in Maui, and want to take a private VIP tour anywhere on the island. If you want to hear the history, biology, genealogy, geology of the island - David is your man. Had paid $420 for a 1 way pick up from Airport to Hoolei. Cancelled the return due to exorbitant price gouging. Confirmed again with hotel then they argued it wasn't within 72 hours even though the company had notice the day we arrived and within their time limit stated on our checkin- we would not use them again. They also charged $400 for a one way pickup for another family member on our hotel bill, while Hoolei also separately charging $120 for the taxi they utilized for the service we actually booked with them. They then show up when we're leaving as if to suggest we didn't cancel. I think this is outrageous behavior operating a business like bandits.... maybe hopeful unsuspecting patrons won't scrutinize their bill. Anyway we ended up using CB Taxi which delivered a 5 star service using a Mercedes Sprinter Van. Highly recommend- Jonah was an excellent driver, courteous, and polite. PrimoVIP was our guide for the Road to Hana tour. The driver and guide, Kai, was absolutely perfect for the tour. He was conversational, knowledgeable and local. He had plenty of insight into local history and information regarding the changes of Maui and Hana specifically. He was cautious in his driving, yet expeditious. The road to Hana was a challenging drive and we had already rescheduled due to bad weather conditions the previous several days. There were trees down and road construction in a few places along the tour. At no point did we feel rushed or like Kai was inattentive. We made several stops at scenic lookouts and at places to eat such as; Kuau Store (amazing fresh breakfast), Aunty's Kitchen for banana bread and finally lunch at Uncle Russell's kiawe wood grill for some Huli Huli Chicken. We were picked up early and arrived back at the hotel around late afternoon. Everyone in the party felt like Kai was a terrific guide and driver. He was friendly and down-to-earth. I truly hope that he continues offering this amazing service to tourists who want to experience Hana. I wish Kai and his family all the best. My husband and I are in Maui for 10 days, the only thing I wanted to schedule (other than relaxing and spending LOTS of time on the beach) was a tour to Hana. I did not want to be stuck on one of those buses with a bunch of strangers and having to stick to a strict time schedule, so I looked into a private Jeep Tour. I found Primo VIP and sent them an email through their website. They were very responsive and I heard back the very next day. I had also emailed several other companies, some never even replied to my request for more info and availability. The woman we spoke with was very kind and helpful. We booked our tour for Wednesday and were told that our guide would pick us up at 6:30am at the lobby of the resort we were staying at. Morning of, our guide Kai texted us that he was at the lobby and was ready to go whenever we were. We made our way up to the lobby and met Kai, he is a wonderfully kind human being with a big smile and the best positive energy! We set off and he first took us up to Kula for a great breakfast at a local coffee shop (where he seemed to know everyone!), then a quick bathroom break and photo op of the island. We went around the backside of the island and it was SOOOO beautiful! Kai pointed out all the beautiful spots and had stories from his youth about some of them. We stopped at so many amazing places, a few beautiful beaches, waterfalls and other gorgeous spots (i'm not going to try to name all of them because I will butcher the spelling)! We had lunch at this amazing little roadside BBQ place at Koki Beach (not a food truck) that had the best HuliHuli Chicken I have EVER had! My favorite spot was Waiānapanapa State Park where we got out and went hiking and swimming at the black sand beach! 10/10 would recommend, it was worth every penny. Kai was absolutely AMAZING and it was an all day adventure that I will never forget!!! Primo VIP is a local family owned business which makes supporting them all the more worth it! read more

An absolute unforgettable experience! Honestly would not want to do the Road To Hana any other way. Our driver was Kai, and he was incredible. He was so friendly and hilarious, telling us stories the entire drive, and telling us all the fun things about the road. Our tour included breakfast and lunch which were both delicious, and all the water, juices, and soda we wanted. We stopped at multiple locations and were allowed to take as long as we wanted to at these spots. The road is extremely difficult to drive on, so we were very thankful we had a professional like Kai driving for us and making us feel safe the entire time. Recently the family was in Maui on vacation. We contracted with PrimoVIP to go on a tour to Hana. A much desired trip due to the many switch backs and one lane bridges. Our driver/guide, Kenale, was very informative and the most excellent host anyone could possibly hope for. He kept us very entertained on the 8 hour round trip from a hotel, the Hyatt in Lahaina to Hana. He knows everyone along the route and they all seem to know him. I can't begin to say enough good things about their service. During my 8 day trip to Maui we used Primo for 5 trips. On all trips they were timely. They were waiting for us at the scheduled times and never kept us waiting. We had four different drivers and all of them were personable, kind, attentive and respectful. Since we were traveling with two very young children they supplied the cars eats on the trips where we didn't want to have to bring our own. The car seats were high quality and well cared for. A week after returning home I received a package from one of the drivers. it was a pacifer that we had left in the care. This guy took his own time and money to send us our pacifier. That is the type of customer service that so few organizations or people offer. The value for the money well exceeded our expectations!!!!!! read more

Used these guys for their romantic picnic deal for proposal to my (now) fiancé. The whole experience was great and straightforward. From arranging the trip via email with nancy one of the dispatchers to Jim the driver who made the whole evening very special. It was all a surprise for my wife to be and Jim called ahead of time to arrange the plan so she was still unaware of what was happening up until the very moment I proposed. Jim was full of local knowledge and showed off some hidden gems (including Steve Tyler's house). The picnic included in the package was great. Plenty of food that we are still enjoying. Like most people, I rarely write review unless they're exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. We scheduled a tour to Hana with our concierge because there was a shortage of cars in Maui when we were traveling and we didn't want to spend all day in a small car plus we wanted the knowledge of an experienced tour guide. Avis ended up giving us a jeep (yay) so I immediately tried to cancel the tour. It was 47 hours before the tour and their policy was 48 hour so I was denied. The tour company was suppose to provide a suburban but the driver showed up in a jeep instead. We were 4 adults plus a driver in a jeep for 8 hours. We were supposed to have many stops among the way and be able to customize the tour. That was not the case at all. Our driver was soft spoken and not much of a talker which isn't the best quality when you're supposed to be a tour guide! There is a beautiful beach close to Hana that you need a scheduled time to enter. The tour company takes care of scheduling the time. They made the time so late in the day that we had to rush through it and the driver allowed us no stops on the way home even though he originally said he would stop when we made the decision to leave the beach early. read more
