They get you in at a low rate and then raise it every 2 months by 20-30 bucks claiming lack of rooms

This is a conveniently located storage facility staffed with employees that are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The property site manager, Dakota, provided me with a great customer experience when I showed up unannounced and needed to rent an additional unit on the spot. 1 star for a nice color scheme. The lack of knowledge and training on their own system boggles my mind. First, I drove one of their rental trucks 5.2 miles and I was told that I used 10+ gallons of fuel. When I contested that fact, I was told that they are not experts on U-Haul trucks. I even did the math for them because apparently they are incapable. If I used 10 gallons of fuel to drive 5.2 miles that would be slightly less than 0.5 MPG. I resorted to calling U-Haul. The service rep said (in between laughs) that either they are either incorrect or there is a serious malfunction with the vehicle. The billing system is atrocious. I attempted to have my account put on automatic payments twice. It failed both times. I get home, check my spam folder and there is some message about it. I then log in and find that my bill is $371 for a $67 unit. Roughly $300 of that being fees. Phone call? Apparently they try, but they use a robo-dialer which is blocked before it even hits my phone. They sent an unknown bill to collection from my previous until saying that it wasn't swept out. I was so filthy when I moved in that I sacrificed a $90 comforter to put my belongings on. Then there's the fact that they have like six working carts for 100's of units. Definitely go elsewhere. Also, check out their end game. Great location very clean and safe in a temperature controlled environment. Front desk personnel during normal working hours and key fob gets you access after hours if you need into your storage unit. read more

Disappointing customer service. I called the Monday before I moved in to ask about the availability of a truck. I was told the person in charge of the trucks was busy, but they would have her call me before the end of the day. I called the next day because I hadn't received a call yet, and played phone tag back and forth with Erica. We eventually established that there would be a truck for me to use on Friday, I could pick it up at Prime Storage and leave it there when I was done. Later someone from Uhaul called to tell me the truck from Prime wasn't available because it was down for repairs, and the next closest truck I would have to pick up in Glenville. Not as ideal, but I really needed a truck that Friday, so I agreed. Two days later, on Thursday, Erica called me to tell me that she hadn't realized the truck was down for repair, and I couldn't use the truck. I told her someone else from Uhaul had already told me this and had arranged for me to pick up a truck in Glenville. She then told me that I could get a truck from a place in Mechanicville instead, and if I did so, I could leave the truck at Prime when I was done (I had thought this was a favor, for the inconvenience, but found out later this was because Erica had also rented a truck out to someone for the following day, and if I did this, essentially I would be doing her job of getting the truck to Prime so the next customer would have the truck they were also promised). I opted for this choice since I would rather be able to leave the truck at Prime when I was done moving instead of driving a truck back to Glenville before going home. Erica told me she would call the facility in Mechanicville to make sure the truck would definitely be available, and to inform them that I would be leaving the truck at Prime rather than returning it. She said she would call me around 9:15 am Friday morning to confirm this information with me. Friday morning, Erica called and reiterated what she had said the day before, and mentioned a "guy" at the Mechanicville location where I would be picking up the truck. This gave me the impression that she had talked to someone there, so I asked what the guy's name was, so I could find him once I got there. She said she had "no idea" what his name was, and I began to feel she had not actually spoken with anyone there, and then she told me that there "should be a truck there for me," and if no one was there for me when I went to pick it up, "the keys should be in it, hopefully." This blew my mind, I cannot think of any instance ever where Uhaul would accept someone picking up one of their trucks to use without checking in and providing a license and payment information. When I arrived to the location in Mechanicville it was confirmed that she had not spoken to anyone there. I was told it would cost me a lot more money to leave the truck at Prime rather than return it, and after 20 or so minutes of going back and forth with someone on the phone with Uhaul, we got it sorted out that I could leave it at Prime for no extra charge. I would be paying approximately $55, a flat rate that included the first 30 miles for free (as opposed to the $0.99/m charge and a lower base fee). I drove the Uhaul truck to Prime Storage, where I met Erica. I expressed that I was frustrated with the situation with the Uhaul truck so far, and that I was being told different things by different people. Her response was that I should only believe what she says. She told me the truck would be $29.95, plus 99 cents per mile. I told her that was not what I had paid for at the location in Mechanicville. She also told me that she would try to have the charge be as low as possible for me, since I was basically doing her job of getting the truck, because she had also rented it out to someone for Saturday. After moving, I wanted to buy a lock from the office, and lock up my unit so I could leave. I checked my phone, it was 1:47. I went to the office, and it was locked, with a sign on the door saying that Erica would be back at 2:00. I waited until 2:30, after speaking with someone over the phone several times asking if they knew when she would be returning (they did not), then left to purchase a lock elsewhere. I came back with a lock around 2:40, and she was back. I told her I waited until 2:30 for her to return, and the sign said she would be back by 2. She was not apologetic in the slightest, and said she didn't leave for lunch UNTIL 2 (this was a lie, as I had checked my phone at 1:47). She was very short and cold with me. The last frustrating thing - Erica sent me an email with a Uhaul receipt showing a charge of $0.00 and said Uhaul must have not charged me because of all the hassle. I later noticed that I was charged, so I sent her an email to inquire. Her response, without any greeting, was "No idea. You will have to call them as they handle the charges not us."
