However, my most recent visit over the weekend was deeply disappointing. I came in around 9:10 AM, right as the office opened, needing a physical done urgently. The front desk staff member seemed noticeably reluctant to assist, even though the office wasn't busy. She told me, "Dr. Okonji is not here," in a dismissive tone, as though I was there for a casual visit. Then she added, "I don't think Bola will do it," without any explanation or attempt to clarify who Bola was. I had to suggest she at least ask. She briefly went to the back and returned to say they couldn't do it and advised me to go to my PCP--as if I hadn't already considered that option before coming to urgent care. As someone who works in healthcare myself, I understand policies and constraints, but I also know the value of being responsive and empathetic--especially in urgent care settings where patients often don't have the luxury of waiting for a PCP appointment. This experience was a stark contrast to the professionalism I've previously received at Excel, and I hope it's addressed so other patients don't feel similarly dismissed

Extremely Disappointed - Lack of Transparency and Accountability…read more I received my care for less than 10 minutes in the urgent care but waited for more than an hour. I was never informed that my insurance was out-of-network at the time of service. Six months later, I received a surprise bill with no explanation of whether it had been submitted to my insurance. When I asked, they said they'd resubmit it--then a month later, I got a revised bill for $300. At the time of service, no Good Faith Estimate was provided, which violates the No Surprises Act. When I raised this with the billing department, I was told I had to pay because I signed an agreement--regardless of their legal obligation to inform me. I asked to speak with a manager and was denied. I followed up via email and was ignored. This is not how patients should be treated. If you value transparency, respect, and the ability to voice concerns, I strongly recommend seeking care elsewhere--preferably at a location that honors your rights, addresses your concerns. When patients are ignored and denied clear cost estimates for their care, it sends a troubling message about how little their concerns matter. This lack of transparency is not just disappointing--it's indefensible.

Two days later, they charged $180 on my card while the State Farm PIP was supposed to pick up the charge. When I called to inquire, they say they cannot speak to me because my son is 18 years old. It is true but this has nothing to do with medical reports but a simple incorrect billing rectification. They have actually given me the medical report over the phone without asking for my son's verification. I wish I could have given zero stars.

I waited for over an hour and a half while other walk-ins were called ahead of me. 3. When I inquired, the attendant checked her system and discovered she had sent the required check-in text to the wrong number, making me wait needlessly. 4. Despite this being her error, she stated she could do nothing, and I was forced to start the queue over again. This negligence turned a long wait into a two-hour-plus ordeal while I was already severely ill. The front desk staff desperately needs to be trained on clear patient communication and check-in protocol, especially regarding critical next steps like text message confirmations. A nurse came right away and did the medical chart so as a doctor as well. After brief examination, they run a CT scan and they did the preparation on her. The front desk personnel (whom signed me in) also administered my B12 shot (no problem). She did not wash her hands before and after the B12 shot (from front desk to needle). However before the shot she did place gloves over both hands. No alcohol wipe on skin before insertion of needle. After needle removal, an apparent bubble of blood in shoulder area remained. No assistance with that at all. She just turn around and fill out paperwork (used gloves still on). I had to request bandaids to be placed over shot or something to wipe blood off. No attempt to assist in blood removal. She began looking and inquiring about bandaides. She left the room looking for bandaides - (still wearing used patience gloves). In her absence, I noticed a box Kleenex in the room so I removed several sheets and wiped the standing bubble blood from my shoulder. She returned with a bandaid (used gloves still on). Remove 1 glove from hand and placed the bandaide on my shoulder. This is not over. When placing the bandaide, she placed it over dry skin, not where the needle was inserted to prevent blood leak. ( It alarmed because - Normally there is no blood leak of this amount from any B12 shot I have ever taken). Needless to say: Sterilness, quality coustomer care, well being and , patient concern of medical hygiene was not on the agenda today. I hope they figure this out! And by the way - you guys can clean it up in there a little bit please. Wipe down the lobby and patience rooms.... Geesch!!! Give it a 2 rating because the lady was fairly pleasant.

When I expressed that I found his attitude rude, he responded with, "That's fine," and didn't seem to care. I mentioned I would leave a review, and he simply said, "Totally fine." It's frustrating to be treated this way, especially by someone who isn't even the owner of the practice. I don't believe money justifies poor behavior. I have more income than Surgeon. Definitely more than Family Doctor, yet I treat others with respect. This experience was unprofessional and frankly, unacceptable.

This makes sense but didn't seem like a professional or courteous way to share this information. Since I lived 5 mins away, I decided to take my chances. My husband carries my son in. Two people were sitting in the front, laughing and chatting. They did not seem concerned or a place where they take care of "urgent" matters. I gave my insurance and they told me to complete the 10 page questionnaire online. It took some time for me to load it, after connecting to internet, when I got to the last page, an error page loaded. I felt hopeless with my kid crying. My husband tried again from his phone and thankfully was successful. We were seen after 25 min. Which isn't too bad but I felt frustrated considering the login issues and hearing the front desk folks laughing while my baby was in pain. My son got seen but I can't comment on the care received since they didn't allow both parents in the urgent care room. I know that memorial Herman urgent care allows both parents and seem to show more urgent like caring behaviors.

However, I had a pretty deep cut in my ankle today and my friends thought it would be a good idea to get it looked at. I didn't have to wait very long, paid an initial $50 fee, and then shortly after, the doc came to check out my ankle. He was very helpful and stitched up my ankle in no time! He gave me some useful advice on how to take care of my ankle before sending me on my way. I was pleasantly surprised to see that my bill came out to $250. My ER bill for just receiving bandages was over 5x that amount with insurance (and over 10x before insurance)!!
