Wonderful butchers…read more Notice that I didn't say "meat market." Sure, this place sells meat, but they also know how to cut meat per my order -- which we made from Texas weeks prior to Christmas. They also tied it very nicely, and the vacuum pack is clutch. The big order was a bone-in rib roast (six pounds), which will be our Christmas dinner. It's a beautiful roast ... probably Select Grade, since it was about $120. But there is plenty of fat in the cap. If this beauty doesn't taste worth a damn, it's on me. Notice that I rubbed it with dry rosemary, course black pepper, Kosher salt and lemon zest. It will sit in the fridge overnight and roast low and slow on Christmas Day. We also picked up bacon, breakfast sausage and Dearborn hot dogs (I'm a hot dog junkie). All of it was fresh and tasty, The service here is spot-on. Not only do they answer questions, but they also give you exactly what you order ... along with some advice. That's old-school, and it's too bad that there aren't more places like this anymore. I live in the Houston area, and we have markets such as this. But they are few and far between.

Visiting Cleveland during an unprecedented heat wave and since the West Side market lacks good A/C,…read morea friend recommended these guys. They also have really nice A/C!! :) Small shop, but with an amazing selection of steaks, sausages, cheeses, pork and etc. They also had some fresh vegetables, dry goods such as ketchup, beer, spices and breads. Service at the butcher shop was awesome, I was looking for a few large fillets, the gentlemen chopped them up and air sealed them for the ride home. They tasted amazing! So, when visiting the West Side market, you might want to start here first or at least pass thru on the way out. I think you will be impressed by what they have!!

The butcher was a wonderful older gentleman who let me taste their most delectable ciccioli which is like a pork terrine with apricots in it. Melt in your mouth good! This place isn't huge or crammed with products but you will feel good spending your money here and get high quality products in return.

I was reminded about Rudy's by my son who gets a lot of meat here for smoking in his smoker. I've been by twice and the first time was just so so. My problem was that I didn't order ahead.! The great thing about this place is they are busy! It's a popular place! There are guys in the back butchering and cutting up meat! It is pretty cool to watch! This is truly a homey place and I can see why my mom visited for her meat needs and she ordered ahead! When you walk in, you can tell there are a lot of regulars. People take numbers, get their meats, have conversations. A nice and welcoming vibe. I ordered an Easter Ham from David. He was great in explaining the difference between bone in, boneless and cooking differences. I did a boneless sliced ham and it was perfect for my own glaze. Everyone enjoyed and the ham itself was good. Not salty or fatty. I will definitely be back and if there is something specific I want, I will call ahead. They are really great and I highly recommend!
