I felt confident in my choice to hire MHS after reading all their reviews, but it really became solidified after my initial call with Aaron and working with them from start to finish. These days its hard to know what experience you'll get hiring contractors, but these guys are the real deal. Without a doubt I would strongly recommend them to anyone who values quality, great communication, and clear expectations on any projects they have for their home. +1 on the amazing platform they use to describe or show daily progress. 100% would hire again, and definitely plan to for the future!! We were looking for years, and absolutely fell in love with the place they built. While I can't comment on the working relationship, I can can comment on their quality of outcome, which is stellar. Gas line? Hot water recirc? Heated flooring? Large overhangs? Pushing your space to the legal height limits? Balconies, induction stoves, floor to ceiling Anderson doors and spacious windows or open concept living areas? Glass garage doors? Garappa platform decking? Energy recovery ventilator? Electric car charging? Mini split AC? Everything is beautiful, everything works, and we're super happy with the end result. Is it perfect? No. Is anything ever perfect? Also no. Has every inspector or tradesman we've hired made an unsolicited comment on the build quality? Yes. Has that happened to our friends or family? No, definitely not with this unprompted consistency. While we have some settlement problems with the flooring, issues with some appliances, some scraping on the balcony doors, and the drainage pump should have used waterproof wing nuts (also the float valves easily get caught), overall it's a supremely complex 5 story build with stellar results. We're only a year in, so we'll see how it goes, but so far so great.

We contacted Chermak when our bathrooms were destroyed during a massive water leak in our home and…read morewe were dealing with a huge insurance claim. We were initially recommended to a few contractors that specialized in restoration from leaks but started to feel uncomfortable with the process and like they were all trying to take advantage of us via the insurance claim. A neighborhood Facebook group pointed us to Chermak with consistent reports of them having great service, but also a fair price and staying on time and on budget. I was quickly connected to Angel the project manager and she was able to come out to our house that week for an inspection. She immediately built trust with us and showed a genuine care for wanting to get us back into our home (we had been out already for 3 months). We trusted our gut and quickly got to work with Angel and Chermak and getting the ball rolling on the scope of work to be done and approved by our insurance company. And to risk the obvious pun here, Angel was an Angel, there's no way this would have gone how it did without her, for all that she manages and does she's very efficient and good at her job and really absorbs a lot of the stress and difficulty that is common to this kind of work. She also was very reasonable with us in not upselling, offering suggestions where things could be easier or money better spent, which helped with our trust. Fast forward to the working starting EARLY (which was a good thing) and not only completing on time but even a week EARLY than what was planned, so exciting for us. Kim from the design team helped us get our plans together for the bathrooms to achieve what we really wanted out of them and set the plans in place. Tyler was our GC for the 8 weeks of restoration and I selfishly don't want to tell everyone how good he is because then everyone will want him. We were concerned about having so many people in our home and around our stuff, but he so quickly made us feel comfortable and was adopted into the family. He also really listened to us and understood our wants, needs and particular requests as the bathrooms were constructed, he knew it was important to us things be done the right way and was willing to take the time to see it through. He's also just an all-around good dude and we miss having him here. I've given many referrals since our job wrapped to other prospective clients for Chermak and we intend to hire them again when it's time to remodel our kitchen. Our job was not without any issues but they were determined to do the right thing and see us be happy with the end result, which is a really great experience in this kind of arrangement. Customer service goes a long way and is often worth paying for and we are so happy with our new bathrooms. Thank you Chermak team!

I want to specifically mention the team that worked on the place since I'm so happy with the job. AnJanette oversaw things and walked me through the job, Gary did a phenomenal job doing the initial assessment and recon, Jack, Craig, Chris, Carson, and John did the work and painting. I don't know enough about the details to give specifics of who did what, but it was all done really, really well and I am ecstatic about it. Additionally, our project was tricky from a permitting perspective and we decided to do a complete landscaping project in tandem with our remodel. McAdams delivered on all of their promises and their craftsmanship is excellent. Have you ever given birth? A remodel, I've learned, is pretty much exactly like that: painful,…read moreinconvenient, messy, takes longer than you think it will, and toward the end you'll find yourself wondering, "Why did I think this was a good idea?" But at the end, man, you have something pretty terrific out of it. My process with McAdams started in June 2017, when I contracted with them to remodel, primarily, my master bathroom in my townhouse. However, they were also repainting the entire interior (including millwork), installing new flooring everywhere, and doing a few other things. The actual building process began in January, 2018 and ended, pretty much, in July. Their work is very high quality. My project lead, Rich, was amazing - very easy to work with. After the build, there have been some minor detail-y things that have required them to come back to fix. Dale, the owner, has been very nice about getting right on these things. One star off for two reasons: they are very expensive. Know that going in. The other reason probably won't impact you. When I contracted with them, they were going through a bit of a staffing turnover. I loved my original project manager and was sad when I learned he was leaving. Because of the turnover, certain things weren't done when they should have been due to communication lapses (permits weren't pulled...). This resulted in my daughter and I spending more time in a hotel than we'd been prepared to do. However, Dale worked with us to reimburse our cost, so that was terrific. And again, my house is gorgeous.

I hired Keith and team to remodel my master bath shower because of a water leak. Overall, I had…read moremixed feelings about my experience. Everything went well until I felt like he tried to gaslight me into believing a piece of trim they removed near the shower was bigger than it was and they weren't going to texture the area that they had mudded. It turned out to be a miscommunication between him and his drywall contractor, but the conversation didn't leave a good taste in my mouth because even with proof in pictures, he argued with me quite a bit that the area they had mudded looked like that because the trim they removed covered the whole area and they weren't going to fix it. (Attached photos for illustration) I'm happy with the tile work even though there are some imperfections with the shower fixture installs, but those can be overlooked. The caulking was terrible and didn't look like it was done by a professional. When I inspected it the first time, I let it go because I thought it wouldn't be a big deal to remove it and re-caulk it myself when we eventually had to. However, after I showered in it for the first time, it leaked because they didn't fully caulk parts of the shower door. We re-caulked the areas that they missed, but I'm probably either going to have to hire another professional to remove the existing caulk and re-caulk it eventually or have to deal with it myself after paying so much money for the remodel. We also discovered a deep gash on the shower pan after thoroughly inspecting it. While they did come back to remedy this, it felt like it took some convincing that this wasn't a factory defect before agreeing to come back and resolve it. We found out when they came back that a piece of tile was indeed dropped in that area and caused the gash. Lesson learned, don't pay unless you're really satisfied with the outcome. This review is 3 stars because they were nice enough to help me fill in a couple sections of grout that flaked away in a different part of the house that was unrelated to this project. Addition in response to owner's reply: I may be a bit confused about the trim. I assumed that if something originally part of the demo was removed, it would be replaced to match the previous look. I didn't realize I needed to specify this, but it's a lesson learned for the future. As for the shower fixtures, I distinctly remember a verbal acknowledgement that even if we bought a new shower fixture, that you wouldn't charge us anything additional to install it. I was charged for the extra parts of this additional install and happily paid that. I unfortunately did not notice that the shower fixtures were installed a bit crooked until after showering in it, but as mentioned, they are things I can live with. Nonetheless, thank you taking care of the install. In regards to the caulking, perhaps you may have misremembered that during inspection, you asked us if we had touched the caulking and we told you we did not, so your response mentioning that we touched anything during inspection is incorrect. To clarify for future readers, the photos of the caulking I uploaded with my review show the original finished work, before we made any touch-ups to address the leaking issues. As mentioned before, it was absolutely my fault for not calling out the poor job before signing off on it, but it's a lesson learned moving forward. Indeed, the remediation and renovation work of the drywall and carpet were done well, so no complaints there. Addition in response to owner's new reply: It's becoming increasingly difficult to follow your story on the caulking since it's not true. Again, I want to reiterate that during the inspection, we did not touch the caulking, and it's disappointing to see that rather than acknowledging the poor caulking job by your team, there are explanations being created to justify it. At this point, I won't be updating this review further, as it seems to be turning into more of a "he said, she said" situation. Best of luck.
