I've give Schwab multiple chances over the years, phone customer service is useless, so I decided to walk into the actual brick and mortar and out of 21 business cards of displayed cards of their in-house professionals not a single one was available to have a conversation with me to discuss my options and to help me!!! The receptionist offered for me to stand at the counter and open an account online, but a further discussion had to be by appointment only. No walk ins are accepted here at all. The two guys at reception had very low attention span and kept asking the same questions over and over without listening to my answers. How on earth does Schwab stay in business??

Worked with Sean Shaughnessy (VP, financial consultant) from this branch for the last 4 months and he has been so helpful to us setting up accounts, POA, transfers, and all sorts of random finance and tax questions. We mostly self direct but he answered a lot of my questions and is so responsive. We had terrible experience with investment consultants at another bank that we paid a lot of fees to, it was a complete nightmare, so glad we finally pulled the money out and can now self direct.

What really sets them apart is their proactive approach. They don't just file your return and call it a day; they take the time to explain every option and have helped us strategize for the following year so we always feel prepared. The best part is that it doesn't feel like a typical tax preparation office. It's the kind of high-level expertise you'd expect from a large firm, but with a genuine, family feel that makes you feel like a priority. The pricing is very reasonable for the quality of service they provide. If you're looking for a reliable and trustworthy team that truly understands the business side of things and thinks about your future, TPI is an excellent choice. I can't recommend them enough. One of the things I was most impressed with about Josh was that he says what he's going to do and then he does it. He arrived at my house on time and looking sharp. The presentation he made was straightforward and convincing. I had a 401(k) account with a previous employer that Josh worked with me to rollover to a Traditional IRA. Now my money is being watched by someone who is conscious of my goals and lifestyle. It felt great to be involved in the decision-making process. I'm confident my nest egg is secure. One thing I had never considered was the tax-diversification benefits of cash value life insurance and the other benefits of term insurance. We were able to find the right balance of each for my situation. Josh represents himself and his company, New York Life, very well.

Josh took a collaborative approach; we exchanged several emails back and forth throughout the entire process. His process was exhaustive. Since I put the financial plan in place, Josh meets with me every 6 months for a check-up/review.

I was overall very disappointed with the level of communication from the office staff, who deals with filings and payments. Being in the mortgage industry, I naturally have met many financial planners in the DC metropolitan area.
