We were having a surprise 60th birthday party for our friend and we're able to bring in catered food and our own alcoholic beverages. They were very accommodating to us, allowing us to set up a little early and then allowed us an extra hour (which we paid for) after the 2 hour painting session. The instructor was very nice and guided us through the painting process step by step. She had an assistant who made sure we were well stocked with paper towels and paints. In the end everyone had a respectable painting to take home. Some of us are more talented than others, but it was fun nonetheless! If you're looking for something different to do to celebrate a birthday, this is a great option. They also off a full calendar of events you can attend solo or with just a friend or two. They have many different classes to choose from. And of course they have holiday themed ones as well.

Then I found this studio that had plenty of availability with very seasoned instructors. I took a private class with Leslie and it was amazing. She really took the time to teach and guide me through wheel throwing, and was VERY patient with me. I knew nothing about this art and when I came out, I felt so accomplished. Also, she's an amazing artist and has been doing this for a very long time. I will definitely be back for more classes!! The price of a 1.5hr private lesson was actually pretty affordable compared to all the other studios I researched too.

There is a BYOB option and if you plan to drink you are required to sign a form that says they didn't give you the alcohol. Most people bring wine, however you can bring beer, mixed drinks, or non-alcoholic beverages. They provide cork screws and plastic cups in addition to everything that you need to paint. Food is also allowed, however space is limited and there is not a lot of table space after canvases, paint brushes, and paint are all laid out. The reason that they received a 4 out of 5 rather than a 5 is because the instructors are really a hit or miss. While all of them do display artistic abilities, some are just better teachers than others are. If you find an instructor that you like, try to stick with them when you sign up for classes online.

My sister-in-law has been wanting to try one of these painting classes and I saw that they had just opened a new place in Irwin. So, we decided to check it out. The class was on a Friday night in June and was supposed to be from 7-9pm. The class was nearly full....since there were several small groups of ladies, as well as a bridal party of about 10. Luckily, we got there before most people and were able to get seats up front. This is a BYOB event, and it appeared mostly everyone (including us) brought a bottle of wine (or several) and snacks. The instructor was very nice. At the beginning, she gave us her credentials so we knew she was an actual painter with experience and not just someone they pulled off the street. She reviewed what we were going to paint and went at a nice pace. Actually, probably a little slow for me but it's better than her rushing through. She also gave us free reign and "artistic liberties", so the paintings didn't all have to look exactly alike. It was a fun event and I would love to go again. Biggest pro...the class was only $20! And I've seen other places as high as $35 or $40. The only reason I didn't give this event 5 stars is the following: It was waaayyy too long. Supposed to be over at 9pm; we didn't leave until well after 10:30. The biggest cause for this was when we got there at around ten minutes til seven, the instructor was just starting to set up. She did state that she had everything set up, but then a last-minute birthday party booked, so they had torn all of her things down, and she had to get them all back out. Not very professional of the company. We didn't really get started until about 7:35-ish. Plus, with a big class and people asking her questions, I think it just took longer than anticipated. Also, it was a bit unorganized, which I do give leniency to since it's a new gig. I signed the two of us up online and also paid online. But, really, how was the instructor to know? We could have just strolled in from the street and said we paid. The site offered no receipt or confirmation number to take with you to the event. I asked the instructor if she received our payment, and she stated that she gets paid from the company, and frankly has no idea who paid and who didn't. Overall, a fun night out. Would go again!

I traveled to this location to see a local artist (Bob Fryer)…read more I loved the location. It was in downtown Sharpsburg (never been). The streets were busy with people. I am not sure what was going on. The venue was cool. an open area with art. What more can you ask? The art was fun. The venue provided an opportunity to talk with other viewers and the artist. It was just a big social. A great thing to do if you want to meet some new people and have a new experience.

Since then I have shown at KCC numerous times, and worked with Nanci on social media workshops. It's always a great time being there. The professionalism that she has is great. She's very easy to work with for setting up a show. Having creative freedom on how the artist wants to show their work is great. Out of all the galleries and creative spaces in Pittsburgh KCC goes above and beyond for local artists new, emerging, and seasoned. We're treated with respect, care and appreciation. I really believe they should write about on the importance of supporting local artists.

There's a small waiting room near the front desk, or you may drop and go. If you'd like to enter with your child, there's an additional $5 fee. I will definitely come back for their camps and free play.

My 5 year old birthday boy asked his friends some questions (what are you building?)--he did more facilitation than the instructor did. Kids lost interest halfway through and the instructor did nothing to pull them in. Eventually she asked my son a few questions about what he built but didn't interact with the other kids. It's unclear why this cost $100. All they provided was a zoom link and a photo of a LEGO vehicle. I could have done that for free.

Attended a student art show last night with a friend who teaches a class at PCA. There were so fantastic pieces created by the adult students. In addition of course there were other exhibits that we were able to tour. When I was in art school this was a place we visited often. Time to get back in the swing of things. The gift shop is still fantastic and filled with lots of unique items.

After brunch at Square cafe we needed to take a little walk and absorb some rays. It is a very serene setting and once they get the fountain running I may just come to sit and ponder. The building is so big and they offer many summer art classes so check out the website to see what they have. Events are held here all summer, mostly weddings. I went in to see the printmaking lab, I mostly do screenprinting but they don't have the light tables or screens here. The receptionist was so helpful and said that there would be printmaking classes over the summer and to call one of the directors to see what they might be able to do for me in regards to the type of medium I want to work with. If you need a place to do intaglio or relief printing they have a great space to print!
