They have all the "basic" mainly Chinese and Japanese staples. They also have a very small selection of fresh produce such as baby bok choi, snow peas, ginger, garlic, purple yams, and a few others. They also have a small freezer chest full of usual and unusual sushi-type goodies. They have a good selection of bulk rice, as well. It used to be a take-out Chinese restaurant a few years ago but that section isn't active right now and I don't know if it will be back up after the current pandemic situation resolves.

Try something new. I had century eggs for the first time thanks to A8! You can find specific produce like bitter melon or bok choy, frozen bones and tripe for pho, dumplings galore, and tons of different types of ramen. It's fun to look around for something different to try. I even picked up a bamboo steamer and dumplings. The employee I've interacted with is always so friendly and helpful. It's a pleasant and fun experience looking around for something unique, or just picking up a reasonably priced cooking essential.

Not the kind of place I'd do my regular grocery shopping if I was local, but these small supermarkets are important to their communities. I wish my local small market hadn't closed up two years ago in my little town, it makes shopping a bit more of a challenge now. Again, as others have stated, prices are slightly higher than your larger retailers. But this store offers some unique items, the deli is outstanding, and the fried chicken is excellent. Staff is very friendly & helpful also. A solid 4 Star rating.

The facility is spotless and the grocery aisles always have a good level on the shelves. Unfortunately, for me, this is a "one or two emergency/in a rush" place for me when I can't get to a larger store. The pricing is 20%-40% above other local places. It's not that I don't frequent here because I don't appreciate all they do - but it's simply unsustainable for me. Especially on the staple items.

"Give us this day our daily discount outlet merchandise…read moreRaise up a multiplex and we will make a sacrifice" (Billy Joel) We used to love shopping at the Outlet when their Canton store was open, but they closed it a few months ago. So, we made our first visit to the Outlet in Southington today. The differences between the two locations were striking. Southington is much larger and seemed to have a greater variety of products. It was more like a mini supermarket complete with produce, frozen goods, refrigerated goods, and a dairy case. Another difference is their 50% off room, where all sorts of non- foods items were half price. We used to pick up coffees, teas, frozen goods, and boxes of cereal at the Canton store. Just like Canton was, you have to check the pricing carefully because pricing is a real mixed bag. The Outlet is lower on some items and quite a bit higher on other items when compared to supermarket prices. We did find a few good buys- two squares of frozen jalapeno cornbread and two mini packages of frozen chocolate chip pancakes. How does $1.16 sound for all four? Yes, I thought you'd be as pleased with that as we were.

"Leave your cares behind come with us and find The pleasures…read moreof a journey to the center of the mind" (Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes) We confess that we love Italian delis and grocery stores. And we both agreed that the Whitneyville Food Center is as good an Italian deli and grocery store as we have ever visited. When you walk in, you're greeted by long aisles of fruits and vegetables, baked goods, grab and go showcases, prepared salads, deli meats and cheeses, steaks and pork and chicken and sausages, canned goods, pastas, breads and rolls, and lots of grocery items. We picked up 3/4 pound of ground veal ($7.69) for a Thanksgiving Bolognese, a huge 3.5 oz. coconut almond chocolate chip soft biscotti ($3.25), and two deli sandwiches. The sandwiches were on a hard roll and were priced at just $8 each for a pretty good sized sandwich. My Italian Combo had plenty of ham, pepperoni, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and onion on a super sift fresh hard roll. I had half for lunch today and the other half went into the fridge for tomorrow. The customer service was fantastic. The gent in the butcher department was very personable and funny, and the guy who made our sandwiches was friendly and professional. Put everything together, and this was an easy Five Star experience.
