What started as an ideal process ended up being a complete nightmare. We started our home buying journey at the end of April, sent the necessary documentation to Randy's team and were pre-qualified on May 1st. From the pre-qualification to the initial underwriting approval everything went smoothly and we were confident that we had chosen a good team. Then 2 things happened: 1. Randy brought to the party the most incompetent mortgage lender: Sprout Mortgage. 2. Price Mortgage locked us in a rate that was higher because of our home being a "Condo" and we found out that this information was not accurate and our rate should have been lower since the home we were buying was actually a "townhome". The remainder of the process was a painful back and forth with Randy (who by the way really likes to mansplain and doesn't hold himself accountable), we were not given accurate information regarding the closing costs (Price mortgage first estimate was $4,800 and it ended up being $7,200). Despite being on top of it and providing all requested documents at the beginning of the process, Randy's team kept asking us for last minute documentation and requesting the documents last minute when both my partner and I were working (Cancelled check, rent payment...). The underwriter asked us twice for a verification of employment. Randy asked me to translate my previous proof of employment that was in a different language and I paid about $200 to have the documentation expedited just to hear him say that at the end of the day the lender didn't need the documentation. These are just a few examples of the poor communication and lack of transparency but the worst part of the process is that due to our mortgage broker and mortgage lender's incompetence, we almost lost the house that we were dreaming of. We had to file 4 addendums to push the closing date because they couldn't do their job in a timely manner (original closing date was June 5th and we weren't able to close before June 24th). If the sellers would have cured us we wouldn't have been able to close the loan on time. Our real estate agent even had to get involved in the lending process to hold Price Mortgage and Sprout Mortgage accountable. Additionally, tired of getting the runaround, we had to physically drive down to Randy's office for him to reach out the Sprout Mortgage and speed things up. Towards the end of the process we found out that our rate was actually for a condo and that Price Mortgage had misclassified it and locked the rate higher than it should have been. Randy was dishonest from the beginning of the process and assured us that Price Mortgage did "their homework" and assured us 100% that it was a condo. Of course, we had no way to turn back at that point. Due to that mistake, we are currently paying $35 more a month that we should be and the only solution offered by Randy was to refinance in 6 months, and of course by paying another $2500 at the very least for it. I cannot help but wonder if the "mistake" on the rate was actually intentional to solidify more business for Randy/Price Mortgage in the future. We communicated to Randy that if we were going to go that route the process would not involve him or Price Mortgage, but he is being overly pushy. Not to add that we asked him to remove us from any form of emailing or communication from Price mortgage and we are still receiving automated emails and text messages advertising their services. Lastly, to make up for the painful process, Randy assured us that we would receive a gift card as an effort to make things right, we are still waiting for it. We feel cheated, and we were definitely not respected during this process. Please do not deal with Randy Bongard nor Price Mortgage if you are in the process of buying a home or refinancing. Worst experience with a mortgage company ever! We dealt with Brian C. At first he seemed like a nice, competent guy. We were given a great refinance rate and after the first attempt to sign our contract, my husband noticed that interest rates and additional fees had been changed. They even added a 10k origination fee when there wasn't supposed to be any! When we confronted Brian on this, he said that they obviously made a mistake and the paperwork would be corrected. Came back again and numbers had been changed, but were still "mistakes". After numerous attempts to get the paperwork in order, and unanswered messages left to Brian, the 30 day interest rate guarantee expired. Brian said he was unable to get us the original interest rate any longer even though it was their "error" and acts like he's jumping through hoops in order to "help" us. My husband has reached out to him numerous times since then to see where we're at and his calls have gone unanswered. Don't go with this company unless you are ok with getting bait and switched! And make sure to read ALL your paperwork thoroughly with whoever you go with! read more

I bought a house through Price Mortgage last year. I'm a single home owner, Doctoral student and Registered Nurse so very busy and have debated on making a complaint. However, after looking at the similar complaints online and talking to other potential buyers who have corresponded with Randy Bongard, I know I'm not the only one. His behavior was completely inappropriate, degrading and made the process much more stressful for one of the most stressful periods in a persons life. I will say, although, it was a longer process, the team doesn't communicate with each other (eventually had to cc all members to avoid multiple send outs), It was an excellent deal, at a low interest rate and Randy Bongard worked to get things done, but I could have down without his aggression, lack of accountability, condescension and manipulation. Randy, was extremely unprofessional and manipulative. If I asked questions he was extremely condescending. "What are you talking about." That's not what I said," As a Nurse I was ignorant to details of purchasing a new home, but I'm neither stupid nor deserve this type of response. I also have an excellent recall for details in conversation and cannot be so easily manipulated. Working in customer service I would never respond to my customers in such a tone or choice of words. Because of this I tried not to ask too many questions. Through much of the process, I was always the very last person to know what was going on even down to the date of closing. Towards the end I kindly asked if I could be kept in the loop and not be the last to know about details and Randy got extremely defensive even acting like I was crazy making it up denying this was true. What's more, lying and saying I was the 1st to know details when it was simply not true. Randy knew that I worked as an RN and that I would sometimes call on my 30 min lunch break. I would call him and he wouldn't answer. I would then call my realtor to discuss other details for him to tell me he had to go cause Randy was calling. So I kindly asked (as if I was on eggshells) if I called if he could talk to me since he and my realtor could talk all day and he became so angry and defensive like I had no idea what I was talking about. Basically, how dare I ask or address any concerns. It was really bizarre and perhaps he was going through a tough time but he always seemed to be quickly angered, defensive and in the offense when I was making very reasonable request or asking questions. Requests that would be standard in companies who value their customers and offer excellent customer service. A customer should always feel welcomed to ask any questions. Even at closing there were surprises because he failed to communicate very many details. When I asked he basically lied and said we all knew why wouldn't I tell you. "So everyone else knows but you." Who talks to customers this way? Even after discussing these details with my realtor we were both not in the loop. He also had promised to reimburse me $900 towards an Amazon account payment. Which was surprising and not expected. We discussed exactly what the payment was but he only reluctantly reimbursed $500 after going back in forth several times. In this discussion he basically gaslighted me telling me we never discussed the amount. The money is not an issue it's the lying and mental gymnastics. Although, it seems like there are some excellent reviews for some of the other officers at Price Mortgage, I would not use price mortgage again. People who are this degrading and manipulative have no place in customer service period. Lesson learned, get a new broker or company if I experience this again. read more
